...clio has got a really brilliant handling...but it's top gear ratio is too high, so it can be very annoying on long motorway journey... even the revision in end 2008 of the gear ratios didn't t help much...personally I m looking for a second hand of one of these two, I admit that the Clio is a better car, but I need to ride the highway quiet frequently, so I'take the Cora's...
I would take the VXR, french cars in my opinion always fall apart and the lay out is always so fucking stupid, like the cup holders under the hand break leaver, these things matter when it comes to owning the car
ive driven both of these cars and to be honest the corsa has a better engine the clio has no torque and a lack of rev range to make up for it the corsa is porrly built but would win the traffic light grand prix everytime, show the clio a hill and its suddenly very slow. and dont think im going for the corsa! it feels like a small engine that some boy racer has fitted an oversized overboosting turbo to it, if you want a first time hot hatch buy a 5 year old civic type r ! these two dont compare.
my 8 year old type r would still smoke both of these and nothing in this class can touch the 2l vtec which revs to 8200rpm. Pick one up for half the price of a corsa and it will go for a hell of lot longer.
@IIXRATEDIIHiTMAN so what? a 20 year old 20let would smoke your type r but thats not the point, if you want a new car this is whats available obviously people considering a vxr or 197 dont want an old car. There are plenty of cheaper cars that would destroy a type r but this video is showcasing the new hatches not old ones.
@IIXRATEDIIHiTMAN well better is a different thing to faster now isnt it ;) there are plenty of faster options, but better? your probably right the type r is up there
i think the renaultsport team have always made a better hot hactch then vauxhall thay put more time in making it a better alround car.....where vauxhall just seem to go out looking for the biggest turbo wot thay can find.
7500rpm is the MAX that the 197 can rev to. Peak torque is around 5,000 rpm which you will get to VERY often when driving the 197. It revs up far more quickly than the VXR due close gearing. The 197 lacks torque at low revs, not in the mid-range....have you ever driven one? I suspect not. I've driven both and for me the 197 is far and away the better car.
i would say the clio would be more reliable due to the naturally aspirated engine, i would be worried about the turbo going on the corsa which is expensive to fix. i think the interior of the corsa is much nicer, but in the end it depends whether you want a car for the way it drives or comfort. its not like the clio interior is shit anyway. i think i would go for the clio actually, due to better handling. in the end handling is the most important especially in britain.
I currently have the Astra VXR, i'm thinking of downgrading to the Corsa VXR Arctic, or the Vectra VXR my mind is working overtime thinking about this, I want some honest opinions on what people think?
sorry but the interior of the clio is appauling, my mate has one and it is so tacky! vxr is smarter, looks the best both inside and out. french cars suck!!
Wow all the people here going on about 0-60 times is ridiculous. The VXR does it in 6.8....a whole tenth of a second quicker...I think I'll take the handling thank you. How often do you have a 0-60 sprint on the roads
? Never? How often do you go round corners? All the time. End of argument. And to be honest that tenth of a second would become of little significance in the real world.
The Clio is the better all round car as standard, stop being fanboys and own up to it.
Most people on here wouldn't get anywhere near the actual 0-60's of these cars so the extra tenth the Corsa gets is irrelevant in the real world. Similarly most people won't reach the limits of the Clios handling so the advantage there is irrelevant in the real world. Point is it doesn't matter which car you get. Comes down to personal preference and price I guess. Id have the Clio because its cheaper and looks better.
@roundtr1p the vauxhaul looks more or less exactly like every other vauxhaull in their range and are far more common on british roads. vauxhauls to me seem like very lazy design, sticking the additional sporty trim on the vxr models makes them stand out a bit more but doesnt sell them to me. most unique design they have come up with for a few years is the insignia, i agree with you completely the clio is the better looker
@jgus3012 At the time there were used Clio's on Autotrader cheaper than the used VXR's. I was referring to used as I wouldn't buy either of these cars new.

Not sure where you get the idea that most people race from lights lol? People who own these cars do not race from traffic lights. They are not go-kart, boy racer VTRs, they are proper hot hatches designed for the track. I certainly do not race on the roads...
Ha, I dorve the new corsa 1.4 It was the worst handling car I have ever driven, I used to have a nissan and my nissan would out handle it easy. Really shit car, over price waste of junk, dont no about the vxr though
tiff: "when i fffirst drove this clio 19ssssseven at'Ccc'astl combe race track i fffffffffffffffffffffell for it big time." I hate the way it sounds like his balls are being tickled
VXR corsas are overrated I own a 2001 clio 172 and Ive taken a few of them in a straight line. I am a huge Renault sport fan so most Vauxhall owners/fans will probably think im just saying this because im a Renault sport fan, but on a serious note all Renaultsports are quicker than a Corsa VXR! a 172/182 are quicker top end than the latest 197/200 and on this video a standard no cup 197 model quite easily beat a VXR with a well known racing driver ragging them both on a track. :-)
@henjo22 No mate, in a straight line your Clio is not quicker than a VXR. And Tiff even says so in this video. The only thing the Clio has on the VXR is the cornering. That is it and the figures given out in the Clio manual book also say that is the case.
So ofcourse, everybody will rightly see your comment as a fanboy comment. In fact I can educate you now. Current Clio 200 models are 0-60 in 6.9s... that is slower than the Corsa VXR.
@henjo22 The VXR also comes with a lifetime warrantee. So in 10 years, the VXR owner will have have a car still in very good shape... while the Clio will have worn parts and it's near 200bhp starting figure will drop considerable more.
The Clio is not the best option at all, and at just 1mph quicker than the VXR... it is laughable how you claim the Clio is so much better.
As for the Clio 172... it gets caned by the VXR in every department! The VXR would beat that by more than 2 seconds!
@ProjectVRD the fact that you are quibling over .1 of a second on the 0-60 is hilarious - do you honestly think that is ever going to be noticeable? And your ten year warranty comment? You really are scraping the bottom of the barrel there aren't you!?
If you are gonna split gnat pubes, I think you'll find the 172 is well over 100 kg lighter than your lardy VXR (and the cup is nearly 200 kg lighter), helping it turn in quicker and brake later. Result would be the same as 197 round a track.
@ProjectVRD so no, a 172 doesn't get "caned by the VXR in every department" at all. If Tiff struggles with the handling of the VXR, imagine how much your average chav VXR driver would struggle with it around a track? The fact that the Clio chassis is so sorted means that in the hands of an average driver, it would be much easier for them to put in better lap times. Plus they wouldn't look like such a chav while doing it.
By the way, my rep mobile 4 door 335d would make you look silly.
@286Horses Shame I ain't come across a 172 or 182 that beat me yet then ain't it?!
NA just doesn't do the trick 80-110. End of discussion, go back to you 335d, practice on the Black Mountains and when you think you are ready... challenge me on that road, and watch as I leave you behind.
@GT5FanTrailers I don't think you're really qualified to talk about quick 80-110 times. Have you seen the 80-110 times on a 335d?
Funny you should mention the Black Mountains, I used to live in Hereford and know them pretty well. If you honestly think your chav mobile would beat a RWD 286 bhp car on those roads then I think you are horribly mistaken.
Oh how much torque do you have again?
Now fuck off kid and go and hang around in a McDonald's car park you cunt
@286Horses I am well qualified to talk you stupid lying cunt. Hereford is a long way away from the Black Mountains to start with, I seriously doubt you would drive in your Ford Fiesta all the way there for your athmatic motor to struggle on the road. You do not own a BMW, and I have figures for you. Corsa has 192lbs torque @ 5250rpm with overboost, 335d has only 325lbs @ 5400 and it continues dropping. Now... the wieght/torque comparison coming up...
@ProjectVRD you really have no idea about cars do you? I think you'll find the 335d has around 430 lb ft of torque @ around 2k rpm. It's a twin turbo diesel you retard, why would it develop its peak torque at 4.5k rpm? And what's this shit about the torque continues dropping!? You've really not been in a 335d have you?
Read the evo.co.uk car review, watch some 335d 0-60's on here then shut the fuck up kid.
Oh, and FYI the black mountains are about 55 miles from my old house. Yeah really far
@286Horses Oh dear, it looks like somebody hasn't seen the torque for 335d's. It is quite confusing why an owner of a 335d would also get the info from Evo when he should know those off by heart anyway. And if you did have a 335d, which you don't, what would you propose? Going up a mountain @2000rpm so you can utilise that pulling power to negate the heavy ass you pulling?
Not only have no clue, you fail at Geogrpahy. Black Mountains is South Wales! More than 55 miles from anywhere near Britol!
@ProjectVRD The Torque Curve will tell you everything you need know. Now go play along, or maybe find a crazil excuse for creating a new ID today because I owned you with your previous comment. Like I owned you with your other comment about the straight line speed between Clios and VXRs... still cannot believe you had to create a new ID to make it look like somebody else was taking your side.
@ProjectVRD create a new ID to make it look like someone else was taking my side? Umm... I think you'll find that was you with your "GT5FanTrailers" alias!! Yes I created my account today, what's your point? How do I fail at geography exactly? The black mountains run from Llangadog down to Brynamman. Llangadog would take us around an hour and a half to get to.
I didn't get my figures from Evo - neither did you clearly! The Evo ones are correct. Yours weren't.....
@286Horses Thats a good road we used to go for a spin on that road in the evenings after college when we stayed in Llangadog. Did top gear film on this road once? Clio for me anyday!!
@ProjectVRD now who's failling at geography? Bristol is nowhere near Hereford you fucking retard! And how old are you again... kid? What the fuck is a troll? Is that some kiddies internet term by any chance? Educate me, because I don't speak twat.
@286Horses The 335d has 5.29 torque per kg of weight, the Corsa has 6.21 torques per kg of weight. AND... the Corsa doesn't drop torque like a hooker drops her panties, which the BMW does.
If you think a big, heavy car like the 335d can excel in the short straights, tight turning environment of the Black Mountains then you are seriously deluded and I suggest you start learning a thing or two about cars... starting with correcting your delusion that you Fiesta is a 335d! So fuck you troll!
@286Horses Oh, I'm sorry... I made a mistake, the 335d has 325lbs at 4500rpm... not 5400rpm as I originally stated. At 5400rpm that torque curve just keeps on going south! Go fucking google it sonny! And pick a car suitable for the mountain roads before entering an adult conversation next time!
A 2002 Clio sport 2.0 is best road sports car beats any corsa VXR OR even the up to date Clio 197, my mate who has one took my for a quick spin and its the most powerful supermini i been in, and fuel economy is quite good too. Renault is well known in F1 Racing too!
In the real world the VXR (In my opinion) is the best of these two, the slightly softer set up works so much better in reality, who care's if the the Clio is quicker around the track, I spend 99.9 % of my time driving in the real world? And if the Clio handle's so well how come he ends up on the grass? (1:45)
@garryinblack U owned a Clio 197 and a VXR for that comparison? I don't think so.. Renault Sport over Opel any given day, any model, any year.. Opel is for standard ppl needing a cheap, but not that smart engineered car.. No offense, but seriously listen to what they are saying.
"What looked close on paper, proved a massive difference on the track." I don't think that puts it any clearer..
@Mantua64 No i have not owned them but have driven both cars on and off track and although as a track day car the Clio is better (Only just) the VXR is a much better car in the real world....You have driven both i take it?
@garryinblack I haven't driven any of those two cars. But this was a comparison of hot hatches, one significantly more powerful, and one that was just brilliantly engineered. Guess what? To hell with power when you get owned anyway. I can't even describe the humiliation that Opel must be havin' over such a pathetic try of overcoming true racing performance. This is facts unlike whatever you've been telling. Another fact is that R Clio has won European Car of the year unlike any car made by opel
@Mantua64 So you haven't driven any of these cars, and one was not significantly more powerful.... the Clio has 197ps and the Corsa has 192ps...and I wont get 'owned' as I dont own any of these cars, and why are you having a go at me when all I am doing is giving my opinion on these cars after actually driving them as opposed to defending a car I actually have never even driven....
its hard to place the vxr on the road, the dash is so long, turbos are fun though.tiff loves any grippy high revving car,the gay boy even likes the civic type r which has the worst steering n ride ever
Look on auto trader, 1.8T with 71000 miles and full VW service history you wont find one cheaper than £3500, mine has heated recaros, abs, tc, climatronic climate control, 18'' bbs alloys, ecu remap, electric sunroof, all electric windows, electric heated door mirrors, cruise control, satnav, 20V turbo engine, kenwood cd player with 8 speakers, now show me your spec
@tommy119 So your blind and retarded go on autotrader, put in VW golf £3000-£4000 then put in under 80,000 miles then petrol there you are you done it all yourself. Also my golf is a 1.8T not a 2.0L thoses 2.0L golfs are cheap.
Sat nav was around then you fool it's on the options list, good luck with your part owned money pit
@tommy119 You couldnt handle the speed of a real mans car. I couldnt borrow your car cause that would go against your finance agreement. You dont even own your car. So when you own a car your opinion will matter. Your quite immature for a 24 year old, I sould have knew with the car you bought/loan, £16,000 finance on a 1.6 corsa that cant beat a 21 year olds golf 1.8T now thats pathetic.
@tommy119 cloth heated recaros yes, what brand are your seats? Vauxhall lol non heated lol. Get a grip man, your car is slower than mine, you bhp 189 mine 220, you weight 1233kg mine 1203, you 0-60 6.8 mine 6 flat. you fail
@tommy119 clearly standard? go to my 0-60 video, that's not standard. My car has got 220bhp, you dont have recaros cause you dont own your car. After you pay of your finance you'll have recaros, by that time you car will have depreciated bad. 150bhp golf 0-60 8.2 seconds 180bhp golf 0-60 7.4 seconds 220bhp golf 0-60 6 seconds. You can only dream of this speed
@tommy119 wow your comebacks are getting more like a five year olds, Well if my car is shit you car would get smoked by shit. Here is an original comeback ''your car is shit'' dont have an explanation why it just is. in that case I say your dealerships car is shit. lol
@tommy119 o.k you did a 6.8 I'v done a 6, what did you prove? Your video ends at you doing like 56-58mph. You misunderstood the video is ok. the car lags. lol
@tommy119 You couldnt handle the speed of a real mans car. I couldnt borrow your car cause that would go against your finance agreement. You dont even own your car. So when you own a car your opinion will matter. Your quite immature for a 24 year old, I should have knew with the car you bought/loan, £16,000 finance on a 1.6 corsa that cant beat a 21 year olds golf 1.8T now thats pathetic.
@tommy119 No i'm just getting tired of you giving me no explanation of why my car is shit. and you never talk about performance because you know what's faster, basically you bore me with your kids talk. You have a 1.6T with 189bhp I have a 1.8T with 220bhp, nuff said.
@tommy119 Now please get a life and a girl friend and stop this constant child's play, make some friends you might benefit from some social interaction, lose the car give it back to the dealer you'll lose your deposit but it's worth it. I think your lesson is finished for today, take into consideration all I have tought you.
@tommy119 you say '' yea that retards drive golf 1.8 Ts'' read what you wrote, now ask your self who is the retard? If that makes sense to you I think you should have a rest.
@tommy119 Yea i'm jealous that I dont have a car on finance that is slower than a 21 year olds 1.8T. I could go out tomorrow and get a new VXR on finance but i'm not stupid, I know new vauxhalls are a very bad investment, money pit. Plus I wouldnt be seen dead in a corsa even if it has 1000bhp.
The car makes me feel sick just looking at it. Not refine at all, maybe when you grow up you'll know that refinement is an important part of having a car, VW, Audi, BMW, Porsche, Lexus, Mercedes, Jaguar even Volvo and Ford have more refinement than a vauxhall.
@bigdeal1970 Also you can get a 1.8T for £2000 with high miles & no service history. My 1.8T has full VW service history 71000 miles on the clock and came with 220bhp and coilovers, now you find one like that for less than £3500. There are loads on autotrader with higher miles for £4000. Get your fact right before you comment.
@jasonf81 Mk4 golf 1.8t 180 bhp standard 0-60 7.6 secs ,top speed 138 , weight 1289kg ,chnces of getting 220bhp out of a remap no chance !! chances of jasonf81 insuring a R32 not a hope in hell ,chnces of the turbo failing on a mk4 Golf 1.8t very very high common problem ,,better save for a new ,besides anyone knows and i am sure tommy will agree that the Mk2 golf gti 16v is the one to have the rest after that are way to heavy , i had a mk2 8v gti and was a nice car
@tommy119 haha tell me about it hes commenting on all manor of videos about saxos and all he does is think his measly 1.8T golf is fast.. he ought to drive a real car or atleast something fun to drive...
@tommy119 like I said go to go compare's wed site and get a quote for a 21 year old on an R32 V6 with 3 years no claims and you'll find over 20 quotes. Dont bullshit me everyone buys new vauxhall's on finance and I know I lier and you lie. I dont know where you get ten pence from? My recaros are worth about £500 alone. My car is worth £4000 because it's only done 71000 miles and is immaculate in and out with full VW service history and mods.
@tommy119 I bought the car with mods i'v done nothing to change my car, I have the vw options list in my hand and you can get satnav with it, and I can afford an R32 in December when in 22, and my seats are worth £500 used, look on ebay there are some 25th anni's going for £1000 used.
@tommy119 LOOK on autotrader for a golf like mine, 71000 miles, full vw service history, 220bhp with a remap, 18'' 25th anniversary alloys, coilover suspension, sunroof, immaculate paintwork & interior. There are some going for more than £4000 with higher milage thay hold value unlike vauxhalls because they are dear to buy new, mine cost £20000 new.
@tommy119 I got a quote for an R32 last week for £2600, You dont need to be 25 to get insured on an R32, go to go compare's web site and put your age as 21. 3 years no claims and select Golf R32 as your car. You fail
@tommy119 Post a video of your amazing VXR that you own 40% of, the dealer owns the other 60% doing 0-60 in 6 seconds, you wont because you know you'll get embarrassed by me i'm 3 years younger than you and own a faster car, lol
Your corsa 189bhp, 0-60 6.8 seconds, weight 1223kg
I'v smoked 2 of my mates corsa VXR's & a few SRi's. What's shit about my car? The Golf GTi's are mens cars nothing like your feminine corsa. corsa's arent refine one bit. Most chavs buy corsa's for there first car.
@tommy119 I would swap my golf for a VXR because my golf is only worth £4000 that I paid cash, I'd then sell the VXR and get an MK4 R32 or get another 1.8T and put a garrett turbo on it with 320bhp. I could get a VXR on finance like 80% of buyers do,
but my GTI is faster lighter and aggressive looking. I'm getting an R32 in December
for £12000.
Dont think you bought a VXR cash £16000, my golf cost £22000 ten years ago.
@tommy119 I dont care at the end of the day you bought a car that depreciates fast and drives slow, i'm 21 only been working for 5 years and just starting to get good money now. My golf cost me £4000 a year ago and I will sell it for £4000. Buying a new vauxhall isnt a good investment in 5 years it wont be worth half what you paid for it. My car has 5 doors I have friends & family that come in and out my car so it's practical. By the time i'm your age I wont be driving a 1.6 corsa,
I'd love to see your face when I rip past you and your just sitting there thinking well
at least i'v got warrenty. lol It's funny cause VW's are good cars and dont breakdown much, when I get my r32 in december not only will it be worth more than your 1.6 corsa it will hold it's value longer even though it's 5 years older. You pay off your finance then buy a faster car than me then you can comment on my car.
@jasonf81 You can pick up R32,s for peanuts coz nobody wants them ,fast cars but mental road tax high insurance and low mpg means they are selling cheap cheap
@jasonf81 lol who would pay £4k for a shit old golf , i paid £2k for mine and it was mint , now i know your a bullshitter 21 year old , go away stupid boy ,you have no clue , you could not insure my Clio let alone buy it or drive it , ..
the renault is cheap .. it feels cheep but has a great engine ... i will take the corsa ! better made .. ies the performance its a little less .. but its easy to tune .. and has more style !
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Ive got a corsa vxr and i got to say ive NAILED them clio 197 everytime. even on the corners. and regards to this video
the corsa fell behind cuz he went off the track, if it didn go off then it would be still up with the clio poss beat it. a clio got a 2.0 and a vxr got 1.6 trubo.... come on what car is better????
corsa ANYDAY. besides a renault is SHIT always will be
So fanboy, which tracks have you nailed them on then? We appreciate that you're a far better driver and judge of cars than a pro driver like Tiff Needle, so we value your objective, balanced opinions. Renaults are shit? Renault haven't gone bust, but Vx is teetering on the edge, and I haven't seen the VXR rated well in any car magazines, whilst the Renaults are highly rated. I wonder why? Would I have the Clio? Maybe. The chavtastic VXR? No way. Besides, my Caterham 7 is more fun than either
@jasonf81 I owned a golf 18t , 180bhp model 6 speed box , they dont do 220 so dream on , your speedo is out by 10mph for a start so more like 8 seconds to 60 , your 4 door saloon also weighs more like 1350kg , At least my golf was w decent colour , what is that green shit colour ..,face it sado my Clio 197 will out handle out run and out last your shity old £1500 golf , when you buy a decent car then get back to me not some old 10 year old rust bucket
@bigdeal1970 my 180bhp golf has been remaped with other small mods and dyno reads 220bhp, my speedo isnt 10mph out my satnav is GPS and the clocks are 1mph out my golf weighs 1203kg where do you get your facts? your clio is heavier. That green is british racing green. My golf is lighter and more powerful than your clio, with coilovers so I don't think it could out handle my golf. A good R32 2003 will go for £12000 - £15000 the rare supercharged or bi-turbos are what I'm getting with 400bhp.
Where is it you have nailed these cars , its more like you one of these numpties that think nothing about racing on public roads and the Clio driver prob has more sense ,,your vauxhall is a oversteering wheelspinng shopping cart get used to it
Tuning the vxr power wise aint gonna make it handle any better. Thats what id spend my money on. and it would take quit a lot of £'s to get it to handle anywhere near as well as the clio.
I'd choose the VXR cos you can tune the turbo easy, and Renault have shit build quality, the shit breaks all the time, and no matter how good it is, that would piss me off.
@bign3ck My Clio has never had any probs , My daughters 09 plate Corsa is never out the vauxhall dealer with problems ,,so shit Vauxhall build quality .Ok i accept the fact that the Clio is at its tunning limit in standard form but you really dont need any more its nuts !! , the corsa chassis cant handle its standard power let alone anymore
YOu can't compare the engines only from their size, turbo is why these cars are so close to each other. By the way the chassis of th clio is designed by nissan and I doubt if any european brand can make something even close to japan chassis and motors.
wtf do you have any idea of cars? tell me even one japan car which is close to some europe car`? all this is made of cheap plastik and bad engeneerd! ask any one who ever had a german car and a japan, evereybody will tell u that the german is a al lot better! may the japan cars will be cheaper but this is nothing against the look and the other stuff!
So the 2-year old GT-R (70.000 euros approximately) can be compared with anything European as a matter of chassis? Needless to mention the engines like rb-26 (nissan skyline r-34),sr20 det and vet(pulsar, silvia etc), k20 (hondfa s2k civic) are engines that european cars are dreaming. K20a2 for example delivers 250 bhp without turbo with 2.0l size. can any european engine can just claim to do so?
@zhaviator Sorry about the few mistakes, I m on an iPhone , and the autocorrect or is really annoying...

my 8 year old type r would still smoke both of these and nothing in this class can touch the 2l vtec which revs to 8200rpm.

There are plenty of cheaper cars that would destroy a type r but this video is showcasing the new hatches not old ones.

i think the renaultsport team have always made a better hot hactch then vauxhall thay put more time in making it a better alround car.....where vauxhall just seem to go out looking for the biggest turbo wot thay can find.
methven6067 7 months ago
"How often do you have a 0-60 sprint on the roads ? Never?"
ridiculous argument. How often do you get those cars to 7500rpm (almost) never. How often do you use mid-range torque ? all the time
that is a very track-oriented test, for cars which, let's face it will spend 99.9% of the time on the road
NigoNI60 8 months ago
@NigoNI60
TheSimplyElectric 7 months ago
of course the "extra tenth" is irrelevant
the huge torque difference at mid range isn't, though...
NigoNI60 8 months ago
i would say the clio would be more reliable due to the naturally aspirated engine, i would be worried about the turbo going on the corsa which is expensive to fix. i think the interior of the corsa is much nicer, but in the end it depends whether you want a car for the way it drives or comfort. its not like the clio interior is shit anyway. i think i would go for the clio actually, due to better handling. in the end handling is the most important especially in britain.

@TheSimplyElectric How often do you go round a corder at full speed? Almost never, but how often do you floor a car? Every day?
theanythinggoesblog 1 year ago
Most people on here wouldn't get anywhere near the actual 0-60's of these cars so the extra tenth the Corsa gets is irrelevant in the real world. Similarly most people won't reach the limits of the Clios handling so the advantage there is irrelevant in the real world. Point is it doesn't matter which car you get. Comes down to personal preference and price I guess. Id have the Clio because its cheaper and looks better.
roundtr1p 1 year ago 6
@roundtr1p the vauxhaul looks more or less exactly like every other vauxhaull in their range and are far more common on british roads. vauxhauls to me seem like very lazy design, sticking the additional sporty trim on the vxr models makes them stand out a bit more but doesnt sell them to me. most unique design they have come up with for a few years is the insignia, i agree with you completely the clio is the better looker

henjo22 1 year ago
@henjo22 No mate, in a straight line your Clio is not quicker than a VXR. And Tiff even says so in this video. The only thing the Clio has on the VXR is the cornering. That is it and the figures given out in the Clio manual book also say that is the case.
So ofcourse, everybody will rightly see your comment as a fanboy comment. In fact I can educate you now. Current Clio 200 models are 0-60 in 6.9s... that is slower than the Corsa VXR.
ProjectVRD 1 year ago
@henjo22 The VXR also comes with a lifetime warrantee. So in 10 years, the VXR owner will have have a car still in very good shape... while the Clio will have worn parts and it's near 200bhp starting figure will drop considerable more.
The Clio is not the best option at all, and at just 1mph quicker than the VXR... it is laughable how you claim the Clio is so much better.
As for the Clio 172... it gets caned by the VXR in every department! The VXR would beat that by more than 2 seconds!
ProjectVRD 1 year ago
@ProjectVRD the fact that you are quibling over .1 of a second on the 0-60 is hilarious - do you honestly think that is ever going to be noticeable? And your ten year warranty comment? You really are scraping the bottom of the barrel there aren't you!?
If you are gonna split gnat pubes, I think you'll find the 172 is well over 100 kg lighter than your lardy VXR (and the cup is nearly 200 kg lighter), helping it turn in quicker and brake later. Result would be the same as 197 round a track.
286Horses 1 year ago
@ProjectVRD so no, a 172 doesn't get "caned by the VXR in every department" at all. If Tiff struggles with the handling of the VXR, imagine how much your average chav VXR driver would struggle with it around a track? The fact that the Clio chassis is so sorted means that in the hands of an average driver, it would be much easier for them to put in better lap times. Plus they wouldn't look like such a chav while doing it.
By the way, my rep mobile 4 door 335d would make you look silly.
286Horses 1 year ago
@286Horses Shame I ain't come across a 172 or 182 that beat me yet then ain't it?!
NA just doesn't do the trick 80-110. End of discussion, go back to you 335d, practice on the Black Mountains and when you think you are ready... challenge me on that road, and watch as I leave you behind.
GT5FanTrailers 1 year ago
@GT5FanTrailers I don't think you're really qualified to talk about quick 80-110 times. Have you seen the 80-110 times on a 335d?
Funny you should mention the Black Mountains, I used to live in Hereford and know them pretty well. If you honestly think your chav mobile would beat a RWD 286 bhp car on those roads then I think you are horribly mistaken.
Oh how much torque do you have again?
Now fuck off kid and go and hang around in a McDonald's car park you cunt
286Horses 1 year ago
@286Horses I am well qualified to talk you stupid lying cunt. Hereford is a long way away from the Black Mountains to start with, I seriously doubt you would drive in your Ford Fiesta all the way there for your athmatic motor to struggle on the road. You do not own a BMW, and I have figures for you. Corsa has 192lbs torque @ 5250rpm with overboost, 335d has only 325lbs @ 5400 and it continues dropping. Now... the wieght/torque comparison coming up...
ProjectVRD 1 year ago
@ProjectVRD you really have no idea about cars do you? I think you'll find the 335d has around 430 lb ft of torque @ around 2k rpm. It's a twin turbo diesel you retard, why would it develop its peak torque at 4.5k rpm? And what's this shit about the torque continues dropping!? You've really not been in a 335d have you?
Read the evo.co.uk car review, watch some 335d 0-60's on here then shut the fuck up kid.
Oh, and FYI the black mountains are about 55 miles from my old house. Yeah really far
286Horses 1 year ago
@286Horses Oh dear, it looks like somebody hasn't seen the torque for 335d's. It is quite confusing why an owner of a 335d would also get the info from Evo when he should know those off by heart anyway. And if you did have a 335d, which you don't, what would you propose? Going up a mountain @2000rpm so you can utilise that pulling power to negate the heavy ass you pulling?
Not only have no clue, you fail at Geogrpahy. Black Mountains is South Wales! More than 55 miles from anywhere near Britol!
ProjectVRD 1 year ago
@ProjectVRD The Torque Curve will tell you everything you need know. Now go play along, or maybe find a crazil excuse for creating a new ID today because I owned you with your previous comment. Like I owned you with your other comment about the straight line speed between Clios and VXRs... still cannot believe you had to create a new ID to make it look like somebody else was taking your side.
You suck kid!
ProjectVRD 1 year ago
@ProjectVRD create a new ID to make it look like someone else was taking my side? Umm... I think you'll find that was you with your "GT5FanTrailers" alias!! Yes I created my account today, what's your point? How do I fail at geography exactly? The black mountains run from Llangadog down to Brynamman. Llangadog would take us around an hour and a half to get to.
I didn't get my figures from Evo - neither did you clearly! The Evo ones are correct. Yours weren't.....
286Horses 1 year ago
@286Horses Thats a good road we used to go for a spin on that road in the evenings after college when we stayed in Llangadog. Did top gear film on this road once? Clio for me anyday!!

@ProjectVRD so go on then.... tell me what I'm supposed to be getting from the torque curve?
286Horses 1 year ago
@286Horses I have already told what you get from the Torque Curve... pay attention kid! And the Black Mountains is more the 55 miles from Bristol.
Goodnight kid. Troll another day.
ProjectVRD 1 year ago
@ProjectVRD now who's failling at geography? Bristol is nowhere near Hereford you fucking retard! And how old are you again... kid? What the fuck is a troll? Is that some kiddies internet term by any chance? Educate me, because I don't speak twat.
286Horses 1 year ago
@ProjectVRD I'm sorry to upset you but they are 50.5 according to google maps....pay attention!
david880brown 11 months ago
@286Horses The 335d has 5.29 torque per kg of weight, the Corsa has 6.21 torques per kg of weight. AND... the Corsa doesn't drop torque like a hooker drops her panties, which the BMW does.
If you think a big, heavy car like the 335d can excel in the short straights, tight turning environment of the Black Mountains then you are seriously deluded and I suggest you start learning a thing or two about cars... starting with correcting your delusion that you Fiesta is a 335d! So fuck you troll!
ProjectVRD 1 year ago
@286Horses Oh, I'm sorry... I made a mistake, the 335d has 325lbs at 4500rpm... not 5400rpm as I originally stated. At 5400rpm that torque curve just keeps on going south! Go fucking google it sonny! And pick a car suitable for the mountain roads before entering an adult conversation next time!

And if the Clio handle's so well how come he ends up on the grass? (1:45)
garryinblack 1 year ago
@garryinblack U owned a Clio 197 and a VXR for that comparison? I don't think so.. Renault Sport over Opel any given day, any model, any year.. Opel is for standard ppl needing a cheap, but not that smart engineered car.. No offense, but seriously listen to what they are saying.
"What looked close on paper, proved a massive difference on the track." I don't think that puts it any clearer..
Mantua64 1 year ago
@Mantua64 No i have not owned them but have driven both cars on and off track and although as a track day car the Clio is better (Only just) the VXR is a much better car in the real world....You have driven both i take it?
garryinblack 1 year ago
@garryinblack I haven't driven any of those two cars. But this was a comparison of hot hatches, one significantly more powerful, and one that was just brilliantly engineered. Guess what? To hell with power when you get owned anyway. I can't even describe the humiliation that Opel must be havin' over such a pathetic try of overcoming true racing performance. This is facts unlike whatever you've been telling. Another fact is that R Clio has won European Car of the year unlike any car made by opel
Mantua64 1 year ago
@Mantua64 So you haven't driven any of these cars, and one was not significantly more powerful.... the Clio has 197ps and the Corsa has 192ps...and I wont get 'owned' as I dont own any of these cars, and why are you having a go at me when all I am doing is giving my opinion on these cars after actually driving them as opposed to defending a car I actually have never even driven....

both cars make me sick, I'd have the clio if I was forced. My 1.8T golf would smoke these shit cars with it's 220bhp.

@tommy119 VW are better than vauxhall,
my 1.8T GTi would smoke your corsa easy,
My 1.8T 220bhp, 0-60 6 seconds, weight 1203kg

You pay off your finance then buy a faster car than me then you can comment on my car.
jasonf81 1 year ago
@jasonf81 You can pick up R32,s for peanuts coz nobody wants them ,fast cars but mental road tax high insurance and low mpg means they are selling cheap cheap
bigdeal1970 1 year ago
@jasonf81 lol who would pay £4k for a shit old golf , i paid £2k for mine and it was mint , now i know your a bullshitter 21 year old , go away stupid boy ,you have no clue , you could not insure my Clio let alone buy it or drive it , ..

The clio
slinkey123 1 year ago
So fanboy, which tracks have you nailed them on then? We appreciate that you're a far better driver and judge of cars than a pro driver like Tiff Needle, so we value your objective, balanced opinions. Renaults are shit? Renault haven't gone bust, but Vx is teetering on the edge, and I haven't seen the VXR rated well in any car magazines, whilst the Renaults are highly rated. I wonder why? Would I have the Clio? Maybe. The chavtastic VXR? No way. Besides, my Caterham 7 is more fun than either

@gromit37 Caterham 7 ?!? Man, You are the Boss! That is the thriller 4 sure! Respect.
Btw, I have Clio. Shine machine.

i bought the Clio 197 purly after driving an st focus and a golf gti the Clio is a better more fun car to drive
bigdeal1970 1 year ago
@bigdeal1970
You made the wrong choice there, both the focus st & golf GTi are faster and more refine cars. Some people are stupid.
jasonf81 1 year ago
@jasonf81 your wrong and i have owned a 1.8t golf , big boring and heavy ,looked ok but Clio would waste it no probs
bigdeal1970 1 year ago
@bigdeal1970
look at my video's 0-60 6 seconds. How could your clio 197 waste my golf look at the facts.
My golf 1.8T 220bhp 0-60 6 seconds weight 1203kg
Clio 197 194bhp 0-60 6.7 seconds weight 1240kg
You say the golf is boring and heavy, I say you clio is 37kg heavyer and 7 tenths slower to 60mph. I know my golf would waste your clio no probs
jasonf81 1 year ago
@jasonf81 I owned a golf 18t , 180bhp model 6 speed box , they dont do 220 so dream on , your speedo is out by 10mph for a start so more like 8 seconds to 60 , your 4 door saloon also weighs more like 1350kg , At least my golf was w decent colour , what is that green shit colour ..,face it sado my Clio 197 will out handle out run and out last your shity old £1500 golf , when you buy a decent car then get back to me not some old 10 year old rust bucket
bigdeal1970 1 year ago
@bigdeal1970 my 180bhp golf has been remaped with other small mods and dyno reads 220bhp, my speedo isnt 10mph out my satnav is GPS and the clocks are 1mph out my golf weighs 1203kg where do you get your facts? your clio is heavier. That green is british racing green. My golf is lighter and more powerful than your clio, with coilovers so I don't think it could out handle my golf. A good R32 2003 will go for £12000 - £15000 the rare supercharged or bi-turbos are what I'm getting with 400bhp.
jasonf81 1 year ago
@bigdeal1970 Your 40 years old, 19 years older than me and you have a slower car. How does than make you feel?
jasonf81 1 year ago
Where is it you have nailed these cars , its more like you one of these numpties that think nothing about racing on public roads and the Clio driver prob has more sense ,,your vauxhall is a oversteering wheelspinng shopping cart get used to it
bigdeal1970 1 year ago
Clio handling and power is better, but I also like corsa, they worth their price much more than mini and fiesta.
akumadriver 1 year ago
corsa power
towerselgitano 1 year ago
Tuning the vxr power wise aint gonna make it handle any better. Thats what id spend my money on. and it would take quit a lot of £'s to get it to handle anywhere near as well as the clio.
Eastwoodzs 1 year ago 4
I'd choose the VXR cos you can tune the turbo easy, and Renault have shit build quality, the shit breaks all the time, and no matter how good it is, that would piss me off.
bign3ck 2 years ago
@bign3ck My Clio has never had any probs , My daughters 09 plate Corsa is never out the vauxhall dealer with problems ,,so shit Vauxhall build quality .Ok i accept the fact that the Clio is at its tunning limit in standard form but you really dont need any more its nuts !! , the corsa chassis cant handle its standard power let alone anymore
bigdeal1970 1 year ago
first look at both cars! Clio looks like hello kitty!!!!
Corsa looks like a little sportscar!
then you have 300 pounds between the corsa and the clio for these u can chip the corsa and got more hp.
And also its a 1,6 vs a 2,0 l engine and there is only 1sec between them !! so what is the better car??????
89Niggi 2 years ago
YOu can't compare the engines only from their size, turbo is why these cars are so close to each other. By the way the chassis of th clio is designed by nissan and I doubt if any european brand can make something even close to japan chassis and motors.
Philippro21 1 year ago
wtf do you have any idea of cars? tell me even one japan car which is close to some europe car`? all this is made of cheap plastik and bad engeneerd! ask any one who ever had a german car and a japan, evereybody will tell u that the german is a al lot better! may the japan cars will be cheaper but this is nothing against the look and the other stuff!
but dont look at the french cars ......
89Niggi 1 year ago
So the 2-year old GT-R (70.000 euros approximately) can be compared with anything European as a matter of chassis? Needless to mention the engines like rb-26 (nissan skyline r-34),sr20 det and vet(pulsar, silvia etc), k20 (hondfa s2k civic) are engines that european cars are dreaming. K20a2 for example delivers 250 bhp without turbo with 2.0l size. can any european engine can just claim to do so?
Philippro21 1 year ago
you chat shit mate proper, european cars are much better, apart from french ha
