  • That Oscar presentation. As I recall, they came out from opposite sides and met center stage. He grabbed her, they spun, and as they came out of it, her forward momentum brought her arm around right into his waiting arm, at which point, they walked forward in perfect time. It was magical and I've been hoping to see it again for years. Is there someone out there who has it?

  • Thanks so much for sharing this footage!

  • That was a wonderful walk through time. Thank you.

  • Fred is such an amazing guy!!! I love seeing them (Fred and Ginger) together. Not just on screen but off screen. You can tell they were such good friends. And btw, where did you gets these clips from? They're amazing!

  • I love Ginger!!!! One of my fav. actresses! Such a class act! My hat always goes off to this woman...lovely heart and wonderful actress! She deserved that academy award for kitty foyle. All her movies are amazing and she's still the best female tap dancer to this day!

  • I love how Fred immediately reaches for Ginger's hand up on stage in the Oscar clip. It's so nice to see them not acting together! And Ginger is still so slender and gorgeous.

  • WoW!! these clips are wonderful, the one of Fred and Adele I've never seen, and quite a few of the ones of gorgeous Ginger. Thank you for posting these treasures!!

  • omg wow Finding stuff on Ginger is sooo hard! Thank you thank you! I didn't know they did the Oscars!

  • This is wonderful thanks so much for sharing.

  • how wonderful. thank u

  • So nice to see Fred without his toupee on !

  • these are fab! have to say fred seems to one of these guys who look just as good without hair as they did with!

  • This is wonderful. Fred and Adele together are like little children who just love each other.

  • Thank you so much for sharing these great clips.

I've watched this several times...Ginger is just so captivating.

  • ginger soo freakin cute....she should have won more awards

  • gee thanks! this is awsome. they still look as cute as ever togeather in the '67 academy awards clip!

  • Thank you - always a joy to see - so good!

  • they left out the part where Joan went home and slapped her kids around after her team lost to Ginger's at the polo grounds.

  • @BernardProfitendieu Really? I heard that she was abusive, but........really????

  • It's wonderful to see all these newsreels - wherever did you find them? Are there any more of Fred? The bit in France was amazing, and the Stagedoor dancing, and with Delly - WOW! But what happened to the sound at the Oscars?

  • You can find lots of newsreels on britishpathe . com and movietone . com. Sorry, there was no sound on the Oscars clip.

  • is there a possibility to find the dance that ginger and fred did together at the Oscars ceremony this same year ( 1967) ? I'm looking forward to finding this dance

  • I haven't seen it anywhere, sorry.

  • i've been trying to find that also, there's plenty of other footage for the same event but not that it seems sadly..

  • I love the shoes Ginger is wearing when she puts her footprints in the cement at Grauman's. Shoes in the '40s were so cute and flattering to the legs, and didn't look like the instruments of torture that stylish high heels look like now.

  • @YNGR true!

  • gees, simply fantastic newsreel of

FRED & GINGER' must of been in the early 40s war years.

its funny though- this film was

    meant for "NEWSCLIPS @the MOVIES"

and who knew back then it would ever

be seen on TV let alone COMPUTER!

WONDERFUL package newsclip! to see today'

    10stars

  • Jeez I love this clip! I can't stop watching it! I'm so lame. :D

  • I'll try my best not to delete your comment this time :)

  • Wow, this is great stuff! I would otherwise probably never have seen it. Thanks for uploading!

  • In gingers autobiography she said she came up for an idea for a little dance entrance they should do at the academy awards before the presentation. fred and her enter at different parts of the stage and when they reach each other fred would give her a couple of spins leading her up to the microphone. Hermes and Ginge conviced him to do it and & on this entrance they got a huge applause & yells for more. I wud love to see that moment!

  • Astaire actually started his career with his sister in 1905, aged 5, and had his first bit part in a movie in 1915. Thats why he was so incredible, he by the time he had his biggest hits in the late 30's to mid 40's he had been doing his thing for 35 to 40 years.

  • Wonderful compilation. Thank you!

  • I've watched this so many times that it's almost strange to see Fred with hair! Lol :] he's so cute!

  • LOL! And I managed to reply without deleting your comment this time! Woo hoo

  • Haha!! Hey thanks for the links!!

  • How cool would it have been to see Fred in person. Omg I would have died! I should have been born back then! :)

  • OMG he's bald...

  • wooo this is so cool!!!!!!!! i LOVE THEM :D who is that with fred (she comes on stage after he's just done a dance for the troops) is that his wife?

  • That's his sister Adele, he started his career with her in the 20's

  • oh i see, thank you! i did know about her, just didnt recognise her :)

  • oh, yeah just watched it again and he calls her 'deli' so yeah, should have guessed! :P

  • I reckon he looks cuter and more natural bald. Lol!

  • I have to say I agree with you! I was just about to say that when I read your comment. :)

  • Thanks for posting I would never get a chance to see these otherwise.

  • Hollywood was perfect back then ..it's sucks now

  • I think another word you may be looking for (back THEN) was CLASS!

  • This is wonderful footage!

  • I love Ginger and her heels are so cute!

  • Ginger seemed to wear alot of yellow!LOL! Gr8 clips!

  • shit those were the good ol' days. i love to see those old videos. it makes me wish i was there at those times. when people had fun and lived there lives. today people depend on work and themselves.

  • WOW! He was really bald?! OMG Didn't know that.

  • I heard somewhere that he was bald but it's amazing that for basically his whole life he had hair. I wonder whether it was fake hair or whether it was hair potion...

  • He began balding in his twenties and wore a series of toupees for his entire film career, but it's funny how those hairpieces of the early 20th-century were so much more convincing than the later ones, or the ones today.

  • Yeah. I never would have known...

  • Thank you so much for this.....it was like getting a surprise dessert!! Yummy. No one can replace these two......he was so sweet with his sister, and to see Ginger doing the Charleston (being the Texas champ) was amazing!!!

  • It's fun to see them candid! It's very different.

  • is fred asatire bald???

  • Yea.. I don't remember what movie it was but he was having a hard time with the outdoor scene because it was windy and his toupee wouldn't stay down..

  • Wow, I found ya' among the Ginger videos, eh' Martin? ;)

I love this video! Thank you for uploading :)

  • Princess Kimberly, we have to stop meeting like this!

  • Liked the bit at the end - is there any more?

  • I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please check out my new clip of 1930's cigarette cards of Fred Astaire, Joan Crawford, Gary Cooper, Errol Flyn, Vivien Leigh, George Formby and Gracie Fields.

  • It's very strange seeing Fred without his toupee during the Stagedoor Canteen thing.

  • I know!

  • It is wonderful to see these! Thank you!

  • I would have liked to see Fred dance with Adele too.

  • These are really great. But I would have liked more Fred. :o)
