This is bullshit. The Fit don't come with side and curtain bags. Of course, Honda will allot you the privilege of ordering airbags at $1200 if you buy the optional GPS at $5000.
No they were not, the certain airbags deploy only when their sensor is hit, so that side was receiving the hit a tad later which causes the delay a bit.
When you drive cars on uneven roads that try to flex your car, you hear that creaking or interior plastics rubbing along each other, thats a bad sign because the cars structure is weak. I test drove the same Honda Accord shown here and you dont hear those noises from that car, unlike the same year Camry.
@Anadisqus Accord would of been replaced too, too much damage and too many hours to do a repair it isn't worth it, insurance would write it off and pay out, any car can be repaired but if it cost too much then it is written off
@rainbow6vegaslover How does this in anyway prove that? It's a crash test, watch tests of your beloved Chevy and you will see it bends like pussy aluminum. Imports are quality and Americans are too fucking self righteous to admit it.
@hvtecfreak - you should watch mythbusters nextime. same g-force is experienced by the passengers crashing at a brick wall at 60 kph and head on with another vehicle at 60 kph.
@toyota420xp, the Honda Accord is assembled, (not made), in the USA, using Japanese parts, panels, and electronics. The only reason they built that plant in Kentuky was to cut the import tariff!
@Azureecosse, It really does come down to a choice. Choose to support my coal mining familys livelihood by buying American made cars, or send all our jobs over seas and die in poverty. Hmm. Tough choice? I think not...
@dbutcher8014 oh yeah did you know gm is outsourced to mexico, china, and korea. haha bet you didnt. and did you know that coal is the worst source of power. bet ya didnt either.... get your facts straight bud...
@dbutcher8014 not its not. My Civic from 1998 was built in canada. the only parts made in Japan were the engine/transmission, the rest was built of US/Canadian parts.
Ouch on the Jazz/Fit... Nice work on the Accord! The Accord is the standard of the world right now even though it's boring styling, but the Fit needs some fine tuning.. maybe a lot of fine tuning... By the way to the guy who was bashing Chrysler, I have bought two in a row now and they are top quality, good mileage, and reliable to 200K+ miles. I have no complaints against Chrysler products at all.
@ale03000 "Once again it proves how safe Honda's cars are"
Well, insofar as the Accord is concerned.
Although the Jazz/Fit appeared to have perfomed better than the Yaris, it still failed the test with a "poor" rating as the dummies had too high injury measures to pass this test according to the IIHS (which was the firm that conducted the test depicted in this video).
Very small cars simply do not protect as well as larger vehicles.
@dbutcher8014 Is that not the point to not be caught dead ? these are both good cars from a good maker hence the reason why so many people buy them. I dont give a rats ass if Iam in a 200K car or a 30k car as long as it saves me from dieing and from this test the sub 30K car would do me just fine. You need to drop your snooty attitude it aint gonna win you any friends. I reckon you probably would love a Honda but you cant really afford one so instead you just bad mouth it...
@Azureecosse Hate to tell you sweetie pie, but I'll just stick with my sturdy little AMERICAN MADE Jeep Cherokee that'll take me anywhere I want to go, never break, and not collapse like a pop can if I was to ever get in a wreck. And for your information, I can afford anything I want to, and I definantly DON'T want to afford a Honda! As for my "snooty attitude", I do believe you're the one who needs to drop it, and I have all the friends I'll ever need without you!
@dbutcher8014 ya the jeep is made in america but so is the honda accord and actually the honda accord is made of more american made parts. and did you know that kentucky based toyota creates the most american jobs per 100 cars sold at 20 jobs per 100 cars. the honda accord has the second most made in america parts.something like a ford escape that uses 65 percent american parts needs 2500 us works the camry needs 6000 us workers
@Azureecosse Moreover, I've driven several Hondas and have never come away impressed. They're all small, squarish, plasticy, and weak. I'll take a Chrysler product any day.
@dbutcher8014 Hmm why did you bother to expend your energy and time to watch this Video then, surely someone who is so devoted to Jeep would not bother. I sense you just like to argue for no good reason. Enjoy driving your Jeep and i will enjoy driving my prefered brand of car. Buy the way Where i come from nobody buys Jeeps / Chryslers because they are mechanically stone aged have a POOR image , Chryslers are cheap and crudely built you just need to sit behind the steering wheel to see that.
In the Honda fit, it looks like every thing would be alright. You may at a chance have some broken bones, but that's nothing. The car preformed very well in the head on. The safety cage remained well intact and all of the airbags did their job.
how come only Honda's side curtain deploy during offset crashes?
Toyota Camry vs Yaris did not deploy side curtain, and Mercedes VS Smart did not deploy side curtain either..
They were all equipped with them, do they just do that so they keep the repair cost down by saving the replacement money for side airbags, or are they just designed differently..where in a frontal offset the side airbag sensor simply won't trigger?
@CAREXPERT69 Toyota's drive quite badly, make a bad engine noise, are very bland, lack passion and just aren't the best cars money can buy. So why buy them?
Wrong! yaris did better, because yaris absorbed much more energy than the jazz/fit did. fit absorbed less energy during the collision, that means that energy was transfered to the passengers.(thats why the jazz spun arround)
@mofayer How can you say that. The yaris drivers head hit the wheel through the airbag, he got a face full of steering wheel and dashboard, his legs would have been drushed and his femurs shattered.
Basically hes fu$%ed.
Energy absorption should be primarily through the airbag and seatbelt, then the crumple zones. Thats what they're included for!
This is bullshit. The Fit don't come with side and curtain bags. Of course, Honda will allot you the privilege of ordering airbags at $1200 if you buy the optional GPS at $5000.
