Splitting wood with black powder dates back to the pioneer days. In the video they had a container of Green Dot which is smokless powder and is not explosive like black powder.

Ok I couldn't tell from the video but I am guessing that was oak and I know your prepping it to mill, but investing in a chainsaw milling rig would be a lot better investment in the long run if you usually run logs that large. Powder is expensive now not to mention the wasted board feet with those jagged splits

It really does not take much to split a log. This is serious redundant power and the end result is very jagged and mostly worthless. I believe it is fun though.
