  • I saw these guys live in 1999..one of the coolest shows I've ever been to. Their video art on screen was insane..

  • can't get enough of it, and i remeber grand turismo2 when u started a race only 1 song would play all the time, either it was rob zombie or the cardigans or this. especialy when you drive a 50lap race for like 1,5 hours and jam to this one song ^^

  • yes! gran turismo 2 was awesome

  • FU KirkP

  • Yuval Gabay and Mark Di Gli Antoni were the soul of this band, Sebastian's bass lines were the spinal chord, and Doughty was the cerebrum. I've never seen their videos but this one was fuckin awesome!

  • all I can think of is a dodge viper fishtailing on a hairpin turn on Rome Circuit course. in retrospect.. its pretty hilarious that they put this song on GT 2... along with powerman 5000 and rob zombie.

  • Gran turismo 2 *-*

  • Their songs have great beats.

  • reminds me of KOPNA KOPNA...

  • i'm surprised it was later revealed mike doughty was on heroin cuz his lyrics are so logical and coherent...in all seriousness, this band kicks a lot of ass, one of the most underrated of the 90s or any decade.

  • first time hearing them a friend told me to hear em and they are good not usually my music style but their good any other good song from them u guys recommend me ?

  • Lazybones, Circles, Soft Serve

  • The entire "Irresistible Bliss" album is excellent

  • start with Ruby Vroom

    work your way up.

  • the whole "el oso" album

  • i like the cubs. besides, what does baseball have to do with soul coughing?

  • DAMN, this song is cool.

  • i cant even begin to express how much i love this song

  • just a bad ass song

  • Great video, it really captures the song's rawness.

    Cute kitty, as well.

  • I CAN'T GET THIS SONG OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!

  • One of the best of Trip-hop. Sadly the album of this song, Irresistible bliss, is not as good. I prefer Ruby Vroom or El oso

  • I don't agree. But at least you know all their work. It's all good.

  • Absolutely fucking sensational song!!!!

  • best sampling ever!

  • This song was on the Gran Turismo 2 soundtrack too, if I'm not mistaken. This song is one of those things that's embedded in your memory and you didn't even know it was there.

  • you are absolutely correct! LoL

i loved this song when i played that game. i could never find it. i just heard it on tv the other day and i had to look for it. haha

  • To fat fat, you must cut clean,

you've got to take the elevator to the mezzanine chump, change,

    and it's on

super bon bon, super bon bon.

  • This is probably my favorite song from the entire 1990s...

  • The greatest part about this song is that it's so simple, and yet so crafty!! That's what makes it crafty is its simplicity.

  • now this was a good song. great bassline

  • the best band to jam along with drums. for drum n bass beginers

  • This song is in that new car commercial. I freaked out when i heard it.

  • Bassline is fucking AMAZING.

  • The bassline in and of itself is alright, in my opinion. It's the fact that it fits so well with the beat that completes it and makes it awesome.

  • Hank Paulson is the bassist!

  • no it is NOT....who the f- is Hank Paulson??

Sebastian Steinberg was the bassist for Soul Coughing. or should I say Bull Fiddle?

  • It was a joke. And if you don't know who Hank Paulson is, you need to read a newspaper once in a while.

  • People should not read newspapers. and nobody knows who Hank Paulson is.

  • I never got this song, but I fucking loved it. M Doughty's more recent (last 5 years) is pretty awesome. Brings back memories of eighth grade.

  • This song is also from a scene from "Homicide: Life on the Streets". THE best show of the 1990's. It's what the makers of The Wire did before The Wire. This song always reminds me of Baltimore.

  • Are there two versions of this video?

  • yea i remember this song from gt2. gotta get gt2 on my psx...=D

  • Bassline is tight.

  • Agreed 100%. Love this song.

  • yay! sweet video!

  • this video would def make you trip harder, never saw the video till just now, but i always liekd this song back in the day

  • grand tourismo 2 anyone?

  • THAT'S where I remember it from! Thank you!

  • Saw these guys on the indie stage at Lollapalooza 96...needless to say, THEY PWNED!

  • "you gotta take the elevator to the mezanine chump...change, and it's on, etc..." THE MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSS SOUL COUGHING TONES DOUBLE PLUG FOUNDATION

  • This is part of the 90s music american consciousness. If you were not a nub, you saw this on MTV late at night coming off some cid and got pretty tripped out at the video to boot. Good times. Thanks for the vid.

  • a classic indeed, so many ppl never heard this one though, it is a little strange.

  • this is a bad-ass song and video

  • the good old old days when i was 41

  • dead man on campus!!!

  • looks like he's trying to flap his arms hard enough to fly

  • Crazy amazing band. This is probably my favorite of theirs.

  • I like the kitty...

  • this was on the Gran Turismo 2 Soundtrack

  • yeah, and everytime it came on while I was racing I wanted to shoot myself

  • creepy

  • One of the great songs of the 90's!!

  • kool song

  • he kinda looks like billy corgan

  • Is it just me or is Nine Inch Nails' "Discipline" a straight rip-off of this song?

  • It's just you. The riff in "Discipline" is similar only for the first 4 beats; not identical.

  • Doin' that carrrazy hand jive...

    LOL@trueyellowdart

  • Okay, I /love/ Soul Coughing, but this video could stand to have less of Doughty doing his spastic hand-jiving. The kitten chewing on knobs looks less awkward.

  • LMFAO! What the hell is he doing? That's insane...

  • doughty looks like a special ed kid on ritalin lol

  • special ed kids dont take Ritalin, people with adhd do

  • Yes we (adhd kids) do, it's with out it that we act retarded.

  • i like it

  • One of the best song of the 90's!

  • is it cut clean or cut lean?

  • is cut lean.

  • sounds like cut clean to me

  • lol then why did you ask?

  • 1996....

  • Fuck YEA, been looking for this one a long time: )))

    thx

  • wat year is this?

  • wat year is this?

  • Soul Coughing rocks! don't hate just because they aren't cookie-cutter rock. this song is fun as hell to play too....

  • this song and vid is a trip!! awesome!!!

  • I'm loving the bass line in this song! And played on an upright at that! Miss the 90s. :o(

  • Whoo hoo! One of my favorite underground tunes. Thanks mypartofthething

  • check out screenwriters blues.

  • you are

  • LET THE MANGO THROUGH

    Yum. :3

  • i think of this song everytime i eat mango's. Move aside and let the mango through, let the mango through.

  • The line is: move aside and let the man go through, let the man go through.

  • oh ok. Judging by some of there other tracks it was a continuation of there drug imagination with lyrics. Then again, if it was mango they would have had a mango dancing through the tunnel I guess. Still, thats how I relate to soul coughin. One day I hope to upload my video of morkus dueporkus the singing lemon.

  • what kind of dumbass gone to think is a mango, sou coughing was mell know for the m.doughity poetry

  • what kind of dumbass writes with kindergarden grammar so no one knows what the hell there talking about

  • im non-native english speaker

  • oh well, then your forgiven

  • Haha, I thought it was mango too

  • I needed a break from scrolling upscreen at my pedestrian job. I love this song. Listen to it all the time when I'm driving home from work. "Move aside and let the man go thru, let the man go thru, move aside and let the man go thru, let the man go thru." Makes traffic somewhat tolerable.

  • i think of this song everytime i get stuck in a line at the supermarket.

  • Yeah, same here.

First time I heard I also thought it was "Mango". Just like in one of their other songs "I Miss The Girl" I thought he sang "Mr. Girl" xD

  • Mike Doughty was so young then...

  • ther are more soul coughing original videos?

  • ah too bad doughty hasn't done anything this cool since, his solo stuff is pretty pedestrian.

  • True dat his work with Soul Coughing was godlike. But some of his later solo stuff like Haughty Melodic has hints of his past work in it. Far more creative than you'd think. I recommend that album.

  • Great song. Long live the 90s.

  • this is a great song

  • Holy shit - I looked for this one for the longest time. Thanks for posting!

  • I know how you feel!

  • I must agree.. sexiest beat ever. Sheeeeeeeeeet.

  • From The Gran Turisimo 2 ost awesome. I miss the 90s

  • So do I. This is an Austin band.

  • I love this song dammit. long live the groove bass.

  • :(( :( :| :)

  • CHICKENNNNNZZZZ!

  • that was fucking awesome HAIL TO THE 90S

  • Great video!!!

Mr. Chip's (former USAF's Finest SP & Special Operations "Move aside and let the man go through...HOO-AH to ya Nickelback and your vid from SOUL COUGHING continued success
