At least Obama has approved lots of money for cool rocket research and in-space refueling. I'm thinking that a Constellation replacement is (hopefully!) going to be in the works... One that doesn't run over budget and take so long.

@reevesAstronomy its the Multi purpose crew vehicle and the space launch system (MPCV and SLS) no where near as impressive or capable as the ares V. Closer to the falcon heavy but as always, way over the price range.

@jm5390 worst thing obama has done yet, not so much the ares 1 or constellation program in general, but the Ares V was an incredible rocket. 188 tons to LEO (wikipedia number by the way) could have shot us clear across the inner solar system. I hope that it is reopened OR SpaceX goes a head and builds the falcon xx which should have 140tons to LEO.

Space travel is actually cheaper than military stuff... The Department of Defense's budget is about 170 times greater than NASA's budget, and NASA gets as much done as the DoD...
