@Cynta42 You say his talk was scattered? Try having more than one thought. Try having five. It's not surprise that after scientists have been studying long enough, they all go to one thing, what is the meaning of life. From Darwin, to Einstein, to Pythagoras, to every great thinker of our time. They learn that life and love is more important than any theorem. And you can see love, unbias love in children. They don't hold these grudges because they want to learn, they want, life.
If he could talk about all of the topics he mentioned, why didn't he? He takes the absentminded professor routine waaaay too far. His talk was disjointed, scattered, tangential, and hard to follow, and I think a lot of this was owing to his affected "shtik." A disappointing waste of time as I was eager to hear from him. As a supposed genius, some of his suppositions, such as getting computers out of schools or asking kindergarten teachers what the future holds, are really simplistic. Pffft.
@Cynta42 He's not acting like the absentminded professor, what goes on in his head we probably couldn't even imagine. He has a brilliant mind, but he's also very hyperactive. To put in a cheap cliche, genius and insanity are always separated by a fine line. Your remark about being simplistic, he's referring to how we rely on computation probably too much, to the point where students have trouble with basic math because they just push the buttons. Also, he's talking about society in the future.
i think this guy is a lot wiser than people give him credit for. yes, he is awkward. yes, he is a bit too amped up. but he is absolutely in love with what he does and he wants to make an impact on this planet. very respectable and very uncommon.

@dragonwar55 My understanding of the quote is this: There is only one truth, one answer to any question. This truth is what mankind as a whole seeks to understand, and what inspires people to come and learn is this journey man is taking on the path from the darkness of ignorance to the light of understanding. Religion and science seek the same thing, this elusive truth that we are working to understand. I may be a bit off, but I think that's basically what it means.
Homosexual activists understand the power of words.
Please visit my channel to watch a one-minute video clip in which popular atheist author Richard Dawkins admits that homosexual activists "hijacked the word 'gay'".
The word "homosexual" is more appropriate and accurate because it, unlike the word "gay", actually describes the behavior/attraction/relationship being discussed.
The word "gay" helps homosexual activists push their agenda.
What an utterly interesting (albeit eccentric) man. I bet his mind is like a 4 dimensional amusement park, wherein all the vagrants have genius level iq's, synesthesia, ADHD and eidetic memories.

This is gold pure gold. He shows us real enthusiasm! Tells all teachers find your light!!! Find your own way to excite people and make them feel the excitement of finding things for the first time! Don't make all students robots make them open minded! Let them learn! Really learn!
@SenseiEli This idea is prohibited by the U.S. Department of Education ... no enthusiasm allowed, find your light in the rules they provide and their guidelines. Robots and information regurgitation doesn't need enthusiasm.
Man i was like that a few years back... Snorted about an 8 Ball of cocaine walking on my tip toes sweating like a muthafucka talking just like this guy not on the same topic but still trying to just get my point across hyped up lol... Good times i tell yea good times...

Wow, I just had the most remarkable revelation. Waves and the law of attraction! I have been wondering why sometimes things take longer to manifest and sometimes things just happen right away, if your own vibrational frequency is higher then it must happen quicker.
Supposedly there is a fine line in intelligence quotients where those above it are no longer able to function in society. I think Clifford not only crossed the line but is so above it that he has returned to the realm of of functioning as a complete bad ass.
Its sad that people like this today would simply be calmed down with drugs because they'd think he had ADHD. Also, I honestly have no idea what I just watched.
Please visit my channel for the unpopular truth about homosexuality.
A person does not need hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption. Even non-religious people know this.
Homosexual activists, with support from the media, have successfuly framed themselves as noble victims; it's an effective way to push a social agenda.
@isidim I see your point. I guess he is just an old man who cant stand seeing values of his time being slowy lost. The benefits of technology does benefit us more than what it's taking away from us, but it is ashamed that we do lose some skills and habits which I do think is just much more intimate. We dont write letters to each other anymore because there's the internet and texts. Our education now is based on a projector off a laptop rather than a blackboard and chalk.
He is a showman and an entertainer using his scientific background as a source of authority. His content is depressingly scarce and mostly comes back to the same theme of technology doubt and rejectionism. Some questions he asks, and points he raises are important and relevant, but he is not at all learned. One do a lot better.
@isidim He wasn't trying to prove that he knows alot. He wasn't trying to prove he is great. He wasn't trying to prove he is smart.
He was trying to show his own crave for knowledge and to stress the importance of learning -'It is the voice of life, which tells us to come and learn'. The thing about technology is not rejectionism. I think its the fact that technology is changing education, whereas he prefers education to be more hands on. And that's why he did the experiment.
@KantutJuice Fair enough. If that's the effect he has on you (and others) then its a good thing. I have seen him before in front of a much smaller audience. He has some values which I respect but a lot of it comes down to warning us to put the breaks on when adopting new technology - in the case of the seminar it was about libraries and how we were abandoning the precious skills and knowledge of librarians in favor of computerized catalogs. My answer to this is: how to keep these features.
@KantutJuice For example: the ability to browse library shelves is one we should preserve if possible. But in the entire seminar, this was the only point, though all the hand waving, he made. I guess he can be inspirational mbut I think we have serious problems to get down to.
He is fascinating to watch, I'm not sure how prolific he is as a speaker, but certainly you can see all that math going through his head. I get sort of like this too, hyper, I shake a bit and it affects my voice, when I'm excited. It always bothered people. This guy makes me feel like. Well who cares about them. I'm making something beautiful in my mind.
Watching this guy is amazing. It's like watching me think.... I too have ADHD and this is astounding to think I could possibly talk in TED in the future, hyper actively, while trying to get my point across and be listened to and not disowned by society as someone with a hyperactivity 'disorder'.
:) stupid teens are stupid.... this guy is a genius. his energy makes me happy that there are people out there still happy doing this instead of regurgitating information into data then telling someone that information so they can announce it to the general public in such a way that they can understand without getting their little tiny brains jumbled up

Does he ever stop moving??? How does he work in any sort of professional setting, let alone some sort of lab setting or with a telescope? Or is he tweaking out on coffee here?
zeppelin0110 3 months ago
