I play this game in Australia - we don't have a school competition, but a club one, so you can basically play for as long as you feel you are up to it. We get a lot of expat Americans who jump at the chance to play proper, full contact football, a lot say they haven't played since highschool. Makes me wonder why there aren't amateur football competitions in America. I couldn't handle being told I can't suit up with my brothers anymore cos I'm too old - that feeling never goes away boys
@Ehoa just like here in Italy. Sometimes I wish I was born in the US, but most of the time i'm so glad that I can still play side by side with my brothers, even If I'm 21. But if you think about it, that's probably what make high school football so amazing in the US: you have only four years to prove your hometown who you are, representing them, knowing that the whole city is rooting for you. And once those four years are over, they're gone.
when winchell and billingsley r crying at the end, that really got me. It brings me back to the state final for baseball when we lost 6-5 and I couldve put the game away in the top of the last inning when it was 5-4 but made a throwing error...and then my friend struck out to end it in bottom half and how we hugged each other, crying, kinda relates to that part
My senior of football just went by and I was suppose to prove everybody wrong but mentally I wasnt ready so I didnt do what i was suppose to do although i worked my ass off like no other. It hurts alot, makes me cry. I wish I had one more year. I just hope this wont bother me forever
There is nothing like that feeling of nerves, excitement, and adrenaline as your about to take the field. Gives me chills just thinking about it. I always used to listen to this song before game time, it brings out all those same emotions even when I hear it now. Man, I'd do anything to have those days back.
This video actually makes me tear up. I cannot watch this movie all the way through again, and my career ended in November. I already miss it. Friday Night Lights are the best.
”It’s just like what Coach says before every game: Be not afraid of greatness, some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them"
Last game of our senior year season also two the guys below me. Just remember nobody can ever take away the lessons in life, the friendships, the fun, and the experience we had.
The last game of our season ended yesterday. The first three games of the season took out a senior each game with a season ending injury. It was the hardest thing watching my team from the sidelines, and knowing that i would never play football with these guys ever again. This song and video are so perfect. I love it
last game of our season ended yesterday.... it was a fun run i going to miss those days..... i remember last play of the game... we went into double over time and center snapped the ball back and he went to try to receive and almost completed it.... but my friend anthony came and intercepted the ball and we won our last game.... the memories that are going to carry on forever i miss football....
I don't play for the fame, glory or highlights, I play for the faces that look at me knowing that they want it as bad as me before I snap the ball 10 yards deep.
"If you want to succeed as much as you want to breathe, then you know your going to be successful"
Showing my school and most of all my town love. Escalon High School located in California, home to 7,000 people, 950 students who attend Escalon High. The boys of fall treated as stars for 4 years of their life. Heroes to young boys who are dreaming to one day wear the purple and gold of the Cougars. 2010 California Division 3 Bowl State Champions. Going for the repeat as return 17 of the 22 starters. Mission: Impossible is Nothing. Tradition Never Graduates. Cougar 4 Life.
This helps me remember why I play.. Not for the glory, the popularity, or for the big plays, But for when you make a big play you go back to the huddle and youve got your 10 closest brothers patting you on the back. Football isnt about anything to me except about the brothers I line up with every down. Its about the team.
I would do anything to dress down for another friday night. I play college football now and it just doesn't compare to the atmosphere of playing with your friends that you grew up with.
Ya I grew up where football is more than life. Walking down those hallways on game day with a jersey was a privledge. Earned with out sweat and blood. the whole town shut down and everyone was packed into the stadium cheering there boys on to victory. Brothers forever. !4-0. Fight Antlers fight.
I would do anything to dress down for another friday night. I play college football now and it just doesn't compare to the atmosphere of playing with your friends that you grew up with.
A lot of friends dislike this movie because of the ending. They hate that they lose... But I love it. The ending is perfect in my mind, because it shows how heart-wrenching and painful high school football can be. Only 1 team per division can win state. The others have their dreams cut short somewhere along the road, and it hurts to have a dream die when you're only 18 years old. Those were some of the best years of my life, I would give anything to go back and play. I miss the lights...
@BrandonCox56 Even though I know how it end, I still get chills watching it. I still feel like they have a chance to win it. The way that final play is filmed, edited and directed (with the music hitting all the right notes) is incredibly moving. The movie is all the more powerful because they fall short. And it's great that it's based on a true story. If it weren't. I imagine the studio would have had them the win the BIG GAME, like thousands of sports movies before it.
Not played in a football game in almost 40 years. I was only a little better then average, but I played it like for all I was worth. There is nothing like playing football, and having teammates. You never forget it. My advice to young guys- play each game like its the last time you'll lace them up, give it all you have, and went it is over, move on. Don't let it be the highlight of your life. Go on to do more great things, like I have. Look back on those days, but don't dwell on them.
it's been 5 months since my last football game ever, and it's prolly the hardest thing to overcome especialy since youve played since youve been 6 years old. I'm from a little 1a school in Indiana surrounded by cornfeilds, and we live off of the friday night lights. Football isn't just a game it's somthing that grows in your heart. I just prey to god that I have a son someday, so I can inspire him to live through the great ways of true American football.
could never forget the swim meets that when you tried to talk or even yell to your teammate you couldn't hear because their was so much cheering and yelling for your team your relay. Cant forget those moments nobody can take those away nobody can.
i know i didn't play football or wrestling or track or baseball but i swam for all four years of my highschool career. just like that field, that mat, that baseball ring/field, and that track our pool was our life. just remembering standing on those starter blocks to get the chance to dive off and give it all for your relay was something else. this song reminds me of all the water polo and swim practices my team had. Simply amazing unforgettable.
haha i live in hatton alabama and speak alabama where lucas black grew up and went to high school is about ten minutes away we went ans saw him play football all the time if u can tell hes got a sothern accent
Man, this reminds me of my freshmen year, lost by one point in out 4th game, one of the saddest moments in my life. It was exactly like this...EFHS for life TB #10
I don't think people realize that this song isn't JUST about football. I can understand the emotion from it on that matter though, I am a teenage girl who grew up in a hous hold were football was considered a religion. But there's something about this song, that reminds me of the handships, the memories, and the beauty in general in life. When I walk out of my high school for the last time, next year, this would be the song playing in my head. The song expresses and end, and new beginning.
@WRITEfluidity couldnt have said it better. growing up in the south, football is life, but this song just touches your soul. its not just about the football part, but i listen to this song at the end of every season and it just brings chills to my body.. just a wonderful song.
@auzach9191 I'm not sure what it is about it, it just says so much, without any words at all. Glad someone agrees with me. I'll probably have this song playing in my car when I'm driving down to Florida State University, if I decide to go there. A long way from home, but this song would help me.
I do t play football but where I live we play lacrosse on Fridays and it's a similar experience. Honestly this song is our anthem and we hold hands before each game as coach gives us a speech , it's an emotional feeling that can't compare
I live in canada, so football isn`t as popular but I played first string full back for four years and I haven`t experienced anything as fulfilling as the game and the support of my friends and teammates since then.
Getting a championship ring 2 years in a row will be something I can always be proud of.
I know what you mean. I watched this movie and there is no shame in crying. It brought a lot of memories back for me. I graduated from high school in 1989. So, I played for a State Championship the same year as the Permian Panthers. We knew who they were even on the East Coast. I have the book as well. There is nothing like it. By the way, we won State in 88'. When we see each other we always talk about it. It never leaves you. But I never wanted to clear my locker either

Im not going to lie, I cried like a bitch. Friday night high school football is something great that once its over, you can't get back. This past year was my last, and this years proving to be very hard to cope.
when i see this, i wish that i was born in USA. That i was playing high school and college football. The guys on the teams in USA are so close to each other. They're playing for their school and town.
Now I really think soccer is fucking overrated, if someone made a movie for a high school soccer team or even the world cup, they can conclude it in at most 30 minutes
Texas high school football. There is nothing better. There is something about suiting up for a game akin to the knights of the dark ages suiting up for battle. All that gear, the helmets, your best friends around you running into the fray together. I am 31 now and have only cried twice in my life. When I lost a best friend in combat while I was in the Marines and the last game I played and lost in the state playoffs in November of '96. May those Friday Night lights shine forever !
This song not only goes for football but it also goes for wrestling as well..... As our varsity team this year has went 28-6 wrestling and we have a chance this year to be state champions in North Carolina and it's normally a once in a lifetime chance to win it all
Im stiil in high school but this song makes me cry because it scare me. I know that one day, this dream will end, Im just a sophomore but ive devoted my life to this game and i hope that itll never end.
awesome song. awesome movie. even better memories. I cant help but get emotional when this song comes on. I put myself and my team in this movie. NOTHING will ever compare to that senior year in 2009, goin out on friday nights, doin work on the football field with my best friends...nothing like it. No better memories. EVER.
@HighlanderFootball22 I really feel identify with your words, I felt the same in 2009 with my soccer teammates in Spain. Simply big, simply unforgetable.
amen to that brother! my senior year in the fall of 2009 we made a run all the way to the state championship game before loosing and i replay those fridays in my head all the time. wake up in the morning, go to school get the jersey put it on, rep it proud all day in school, get out of school go get somethin to eat, go back to the locker either start getting ready or hop on the bus, go kick ass, then after the games go out with the friends and the girlfriend best memories of my life
@robjames11jimbo i got cut three times for going on vacation n jus eating and still got my letter to play for usc. sadly tore both acl's. am now pursuing an arena team in nebraska...getn paid all because they thot they i can be cut...you only cut yourself
im not judging between football or sny other sport.. and i actually think its lame people bring all their petty arguments into this about what sport is better.. but i do know that this song tied together with this movie is an amzing combo that really captures the feeling you get from this movie.. ive been in the same situation in the movie many times and the feeling is undescriibable.. everysport has its high it gives you, but i for sure love the one you get from football... god bless
This score really fits this movie... it's melancholy and inspirational at once. I don't know where I heard it before but it was once described as the soundtrack to juuuuuust falling short of greatness... it really is a lovely song and a GREAT movie.
God I miss it so much. It's been a little over a year since my senior season ended and I took off my helmet for the last time. Every time I hear explosions in the sky it brings me back to those days. For all the Underclassmen: work hard every day, every practice, every workout, every set, and every single rep. Do everything you possibly can and cherish it. Those 3 years go by so fast and you won't be able to grasp this until it's over. Never quit and never give up, no matter what happens.
Im a freshman right now and I play football 4 my high school. Im 6'4" 240lb and i played for the sophs durin the season. Playoffs come around and they call me up to be back-up fullback because the starter was injured and they didnt hav a third string. It turns out the back up gets injured the 3rd quarter of the first game so from then i was the Fb. We got to the semis and the coach gave me the ball to get the game winner but i fumble ball and lose the game. Now i take so much shit from seniors
i wish i was bigger, so i could actually play. i've been working my butt off so hard in the weight room, but im still small, and next year in 3A, those kids are huge and will destroy us, they're almost as good as 5A teams in texas.
and most of my team dont play with heart at all, lots of kids are cocky, and dont work hard. this year we're incredibly small. the guy that could bench the most could only do 300, its pretty sad, most of the sophomores in my team dont even bench at least 200
I am a girl from Texas and I love football , we kind of have to down here in Texas. And I will admit that this movie made me cry, especially at the end. LOVE IT!
The music, the scenes... they still bring me chills and make my scalp tingle even though I know, many dozens of times over, how the game ends. Just seeing this movie once, it immediately joined my list of all-time favorite movies, and is probably my all-time favorite sports movie. There are few sports movies that manage to excite during the last play of the last game after you've seen it a few times. But, Friday Night Lights does. Their loss makes it all the more sad and powerful.

TEXAS..............1st thing you think about High School football around here it's life im from a small town and it doesnt matter if the team is great or just down in the dumps EVERY friday night the stadium is packed to capacity and to me thats what i love about this great state the love for the game and yes to XXpro196XX it is going to fly and when you are gone from high school the first thing you are gonna miss is football
@maffnew91 im a freshman going into my 10th grade season next year is high school ball as quick as they say it goes? coaches keep stressing it wont last forever
i'm from alabama where football is tops. so glad its not all ab other sports here. i would give anything to go back to and play. we lost to a powerhouse team in the state championship, but those friday nights were most definantly the best days of my life
I love FNL. Just watching this show makes me want to wish that my school and state took football more seriously. I wish that we had shops close due to people going to the games and stuff, but instead my state only worships basketball. But I love football and cheering for it. Its cool how all the guys commenting on her are so confident about football, Im a cheerleader for my schools team, and barely any of are football players are this confident.
(Continuing my earlier post) ...All those other things players talk and reminisce about. I'll admit, knowing that I was never part of something like that absolutely rubs me raw sometimes. The thrill of a last-second victory; the heartbreak of coming up one-yard short; I'll never know what that's like.
I guess the only thing I can really do is just accept it and move on in my life. I salute all those guys that go out and give their all; They have bigger sets of balls than I'll ever have.
Wow, reading these comments about high school football and what it means to those involved is starting to make me regret not being an athlete in high school. I was an actor, instead. Not everyone is meant to play football. I still follow football though and enjoy watching it, but if I were to try and play it, I wouldn't make it. I don't have the toughness for it.
I'll never know the feeling of being out on a field with fellow teammates, with a stadium full of people cheering for me, and....
Great video but it's hard to watch when i have had to many of these kind of games. It's devastating to lose like that when your so close and you gave everything.
just lost a game tonight. and i could of done better. dont want to ever give up another opportunity like that again. freedom high school. #84 Free safety.
@madison7404 ya i know im a frshmen at my high and i started corner we i had 10 tackles my last game and 1 pick but we still lost by a last second TD if i had scored on my pick which was a 70 yrd return but still not enough. we would have won i felt like crap...
@connorboh wat r u talkin about, this actually happened except winchell didnt run he threw an incomplete pass so i dont kno how this isnt like high school sports, let alone texas football
@THELONGHORNFAN101 hey guess what u freaking racist faggot the black team is permian and u know what else i bet u are just some fucking southern redneck hick that stays in his moms basement counting the teeth he has lost.. so before u make a racist comment think about it.... i can make one too.

Sooooo over dramatized, gameplay is way over the top. People flipping over the quarterback and such, if they do crap like that they're playing poorly and shouldn't be there.
It's pretty awesome knowing that out there in small towns, the entire town gets together to support a team, even if you're not a foot ball fan you have to admire that kind of unity over something
@ben4711107 its truely amazing man, nothing like having the entire population of a small Texas town crowding into the stands to support you every play of the game, its one of the best feelings in the world to know, that many people are behind you... even if its only for 48 minutes....
This movie might as well of been about our team. We went all the way to the state finals my senior year and lost by 7. 10 yards away from a touchdown. My last game ever.
My team, before this season, had a 21 game losing streak, now we come in,and start 3-0 and beat the defending 5-A state champions, before each game,we replay this song over and over
It always bothers me that he just falls to the ground. They should've made the entire pile fall over and then check to see if he would've made it. No one in there right mind would just slip through like that
This Movie brings back my time as a football player, brings tears , just by hearing the music! cause it hurts too know that its over! the greatest days of our lifes! Incredible Movie!
@D3zii1, i know dude, football just started up for school, and im going into my senior year as starting quarterback, last year we won states, we played at Raven stadium in Baltimore. This song was played during halftime and nobody said a thing, because we were losing by 10. We ended up winning 31-17. Hope to repeat again. Theres nothing like it. Coming out from the tunnel and the bright lights hitting you, and the fans. Gotta love it, nothing like it either. Awesome isnt it?:)
I can Really Relate to this..Football In Texas..Playing On Friday nights with the band and Fans..I just something You cant get anywere else..I just something Magical Playing on Fridays in Texas...Towns shutting down just to support their team..Dairy Queen Has paint and Stickers all on the Windows...SMH,,BEST TIME OF MY LIFE..
i know this might sound babyish or make me sound like a loser but this song makes me cry, as it brongs back all my memories of my high school football life.
I didnt start till my junior year. But It made a huge impact on me, and has changed my life, FNL was the movie that really motivated me, and i love it and this song, and my home town fotball team, because of football I made freinds and got into exercising, and a healthy life, so im saying football changed my life and made it better.
@sportmaster92 it sucks, im a sophomore right now, 5 feet 5... 130 lbs. i'm small. i play football for my school, next year we're moving up to 3A, last year we were 2A.
4 years ago we were 1-9. 3 years ago 10-1. then 14-0, then 14-0. and this year we were 11-2. lost all of our big players, and most of the people took football for granted, because understimated everyone. and we lost to the same team twice, and that team was 4-6 last year, and now they won states this year.
@sportmaster92 Okay, it legit made me cry too. I was talking about it with a friend and told her that it makes me cry/tear up when I hear it, and she looked at me like I was crazy. hahaha
But I totally know what you mean. Brings back a flood of memories, both good and bad, and nostalgia for sure! I love this song and can't help but become overwhelmed when I hear it. Laaaame, I know, but whatevs!
So, thanks.. for letting me know that I'm not the only one! ;) ha
one of the most inspirational, heart-wrenching, tear-filled, memorable movies ever to be made. this is one of the rare movies that probably makes the author of the book proud. this movie will always have an important spot in my heart and even though i may not play football( girl), it always inspires me to never give up in anything i do. when coach gaines gave his speech i promised that i would memorize that speech to remind me that i have my teammates who are there for me and im there for them.
Football is different than any other sport out there it takes the most courage and fight to play than any other sport. and you always will feel the emotion of the game. you can't explain it but it almost makes tears come from my eyes every time i step on the field. GREATEST SPORT IN THE WORLD BY FAR
@oDaNiiMaL you are exactly right about everything except about it being the greatest sport. actually well i dont play football so thats probably why i feel that way but my brothers do and it gets very intense and honestly i get very emotional. i love when its raining out and everything gets harder for the boys so the games get closer.i might call it the most popular sport in the united states but anything bout being a great sport is everyones opinion. =]
Eithe way go to any elemantry, middle school, highschool and ask them what they wanna play; football or boxing? football would be choses 90% percent is most usaul schools
@ShawnPeezyy That's because normal people don't like being hit in the face, ribs, liver, and maybe have a serious injury. You have to be a psychotic to want to be a pro boxer. That's why it's so tough. Those guys are legitimately nuts.
Its the best feeling when you give your heart to your sport. this songs makes it more than you can imagine, its a real beautiful song though. Like this song so much
@metalliczombie to most people, there isnt anything more important tothem than sport because it is all they have, are good at, or feel confident in. Since the Roman times, athletes have been part of society, and always will be. When you hear "football is everything" and dont understand it, then you never will.
@GreenmonstaLB I know I'll never get what people love about sports. The only sport I can respect fully is boxing because if you don't love and respect the sport and give it your all you can get seriously injured or killed. I have all the respect in the world for boxers.
@metalliczombie and football players who suit up and go to war with their family dont have your respect? with all due respect, and i know i speak for a large group when i say, fuck what you think.
@metalliczombie Maybe your werent good in football. Maybe you didnt expericance the summers of working hard, driiping with sweat, taking off your helmet off a hard practice. maybe. Football is a sport that many love since its something that might take them to college, forget about thier worries in a friday night watching thier team play, be popular. Football is Life.

BrandonCox56 8 months ago 2

MrChevyredneck 9 months ago
could never forget the swim meets that when you tried to talk or even yell to your teammate you couldn't hear because their was so much cheering and yelling for your team your relay. Cant forget those moments nobody can take those away nobody can.
lograzon 9 months ago
i know i didn't play football or wrestling or track or baseball but i swam for all four years of my highschool career. just like that field, that mat, that baseball ring/field, and that track our pool was our life. just remembering standing on those starter blocks to get the chance to dive off and give it all for your relay was something else. this song reminds me of all the water polo and swim practices my team had. Simply amazing unforgettable.

WRITEfluidity 10 months ago
@WRITEfluidity couldnt have said it better. growing up in the south, football is life, but this song just touches your soul. its not just about the football part, but i listen to this song at the end of every season and it just brings chills to my body.. just a wonderful song.
auzach9191 10 months ago
@auzach9191 I'm not sure what it is about it, it just says so much, without any words at all. Glad someone agrees with me. I'll probably have this song playing in my car when I'm driving down to Florida State University, if I decide to go there. A long way from home, but this song would help me.

@GreenmonstaLB I know I'll never get what people love about sports. The only sport I can respect fully is boxing because if you don't love and respect the sport and give it your all you can get seriously injured or killed. I have all the respect in the world for boxers.
