I'm sorry - I've just seen this comment - you're saying that Elbow's album was good but patchy? Patchy? That album is one of the best you will ever hear - brings a tear to my eye that some people cannot appreciate it. Most of it was done without a record company and was totally self-produced. Think!!!! Think before you post comments suggesting that Elbow did not deserve this award. I'm not trying to be disrespectful of your opinion but it's just not right.

Is The Mercury Music Prize Nominees like British Music awards? I'm confused.

Its probably the biggest Music awards ceremony of the year.

Only really the best of the best albums get nominated, its a big deal.

Theres a cash prize as well as the award, and a mercury nomination for a small artist of band can always start of a huge career for them if they havent got one already.
