@BIaZeFX if you have a version III gearbox (AK series guns) you need a short type motor. if you have a version II gearbox (M4, M16, MP5), you need a long type.
I REALLY dont suggest grinding down the end, it reduces the surface thats actually contacting the motor. And no, underwater break in on brushed motors are NOT difficult, just shoot some compressed air in when your done. Check out Airsoft Mechanics Forum, theres a real guide on how to do this :P

please help me. i took apart my gun and when i put it back together the gun wouldnt fire. i know its not the battery becuz it worked in my other m4 thats the same kind. the wires are connected and everything but it wont make any sound at all. please help
@1996XxchrisxX Check to make sure everything is connected properly. If so, and you gun still does not work; then you probably blew your fuse. You can get them at radio Shack in a 4 pack to two dollars.
why dont you take it apart and cut the comm (witch you use the eraser for) i race rc and we cut the comm with a lathe but if you dont have a lathe then go to your hoob shop and get comm drops it cleans the come also and while your there get some motor spray and sray the motor
When you say that you can use AA or AAA batteries as long as they are not too large, do you mean physical size or voltage? How many AA batteries would I need to equal half of a 8.4v 1500 mah battery? And can I use simple copper wiring to connect the batteries to the motor?
By breaking in an electric motor you are basically letting the brushes properly seat on the communicator before a load is on the motor. When properly done it'll allow your motor to work at its maximum efficiency with the current from your battery. Which means longer life before replacement of the motor, and it could even help your ROF.
Yes, but I have been recommended not to considering its a Brush motor and it would be very difficult to get all of the water out of the motor.. If you dont get it out, it will do more harm than anything..
@AirsoftHawaii09 Normally, doing the Break in in distilled water and drying it afterwards on about 40°C should be enough to get all the Water out. Or just hold the COmmutatort underwater
proper motor break-in is done underwater for motors with fixed brushes witch are a bit harder (the ones with the brushes inside the shell), the airsoft type motors have changeable brushes witch are softer, thus the water can have an adverse effect on them, meaning it could grind them up witch = not a smooth brush
hey that is a great video but when i did the grinding on the brushes i think i did it a little to much and know it makes this weird ass screaching noise do u think i just have to break it in or what thanks a lot
As long as they arnt less than maybe, 6-7mm long. Any shorter and I would recommend just getting a new better set. And Yes, then break the motor in. Its possible something small like a piece of dirt got into the mag and makes it whine. It shouldnt be crazy though, Could you get a video?
Oh, did you make sure you got all eraser shavings out of all the little grooves in the motor? Sometimes they collect in there and need to be scraped out with a needle.
Note that the springs are different strength on the positive and the negative terminal. Usually the Positive has the stronger one.

I do this also, but to keep the motor cool I also put a 80mm PC case fan inline and aim it at the motor. Nice vid, thanks.
