  • Actually, what's the real name?

  • "Note: This song was not on the official DKC2 CD. The common name for this track is Mining Melancholy, named by fans, but I'm going with the in-game sound test to DKC2 GBA, which says Kannon's Klaim." :P

  • I wish I had this guy's percussion set...

  • @Merrovean I read his interview online. His name's David Wise (type composer after Wise since their's 2 David Wise's) He uses Midi. which he hooks drum machines and synthesisers to; which creates this immaculate soundtrack.

  • Is it just me, or did the GBA version of this song really suck?

  • @Merrovean U SUCK NUB

  • @Merrovean Is it just me, or does nobody really care?

  • The intro reminds me of the Devil's Lab theme from FFVI.

  • born in 87, gamed during the best years of my life then...this so always brings me back to earth and makes me remember. I consider any amount of games up until the early 00's golden. Fanboy or not, GAMES MADE IMPACTS ON PEOPLES LIVES just like old school toonami. From DKC2 to FFVII, from shows like All That to DBZ, thats what makes up my childhood and hopefully I'll never forget that time and neither will us. Our kids wont know unless we show them. From us to you 90's.....Stay Golden

  • Why is this theme not remade in a Super smash bros game?

  • NINGUÉM FAZ JOGOS MELHOR DO QUE O DK2!

    CURTA A MUSICA!

  • Nowadays it's $60 a game, and yet you don't see me looking up music for em on youtube like I do for these. Somehow, I think I'm being robbed...

  • @Lurkerwraith Weren't games even MORE expensive back then?

  • @OniLordMiki I can't even remember what them prices were back then. The oldest game I can remember buying was on sale for $10. It was for N64, right when the Xbox and others were gaining popularity. The game I got was BodyHarvest, a damn good game for $10 :)

  • @Merrovean Oh I loved that game. Jet Force Gemini was certainly better but I played BH first. $10 eh? Shows how far things have gone.

  • @OniLordMiki Prices of video games really haven't fluctuated much over the years. I remember you had to pay about 100$ to get a copy of DOOM when it came out in 1993. Now paying 60$ for a very well done game is a steal. The price of video games hasn't gone up at all, but the price of producing video games HAS.

  • @OniLordMiki No, we just earned less.

  • Great song. Kinda surprised it was left out of the CD.

  • @ChaoticChicken1 What is cod? Can someone explain me what this shit is anyway? It doesn´t tell me anything. Is it something like a game? Well, I think it´s something that isn´t very important, I´ve never heard of it so I can only be gay, or? :D

  • @stayles1990 It's a game where you run around and shoot each other and kill Russian and Arab terrorists, and is unfortunately the best-selling video game franchise of all time :(

  • @labrynianrebel I actually know it and I am flaming the guy, who has no respect for good games from the past. If it is really the best selling game, then I don´t care. The kids are wasting their money to get angry.

  • @labrynianrebel It also has a really good storyline and quite good multiplayer, and is quite the wellmade game, the players ruin it though. oh well.

  • so my favorite-forest interlude is good to.

I am 11, but love it, I play it on the Game Boy Advance

  • i have this game in my computer but i haven't played it because i don't have time hahaha is great this soundtrack

  • nostalgia up the ass

  • An interesting experiment would be to see how well the original xbox games hold up to see just how much the love of these old games is due to nostalgia. I have fond memories of exactly two xbox games- halo and ninja gaiden. But the SNES...I still have it hooked up. I still listen to the music of and occasionally play its best games.

  • I always used to think this was called "Mining Melancholy" until I got ahold of the soundtrack on an actual confirmed website. I didn't see that on the list, and I saw "Kannon's Klaim" so I was shown that it was indeed a great named song. Although Mining Melancholy kinda sounds like it would be more of a professional name for it. David Wise is a brilliant composer. Sucks that Microsoft owns Rare now though.

  • my all time fav

  • donkey kong has always had some nice tracks

  • This song has brought back so many memories, Thanks :D

  • my favorite part is 1:24 when it sounds like the zinger bees are singing

  • gonna make a sic rap beat to this, in fact, im working on it right now

    fuck ya

    donkey kong beats

  • @poonlover91 This would make an AMAZING rap beat... Post it when you finish dude!

  • @KMHrock89 Technically, this is a rap.

    /watch?v=nIy21cey8YE&feature=related

    so it already exists :3

  • Although David Wise would lose a fight to Chuck Norris, he would totally win in a composing contest.

  • (sigh) if there is two thing i really miss in the new DKCR it's the fact you can't change wich kong you are and the lack of THIS song and Stickerbush Symphony, even remixed i would've she nostalgic nerd tears just earing these...

  • just bought the new donkey kong returns today, and i can't help but come and listen to this track, it'll make me cry, and remember my childhood

  • Fun fact: If David Wise did music for games these days, it wouldn't matter how bad they were because everything he touches turns to gold.

  • I don't like DKC very much (is a very good game, indeed), but I love this music and Bramble blast or whatever.

  • Uh no! Lets all sound like we're intelligent! .. It's an SNES game ffs.. which we enjoyed before we all criticized each other. Just have fun ; )

  • Love the part where it sounds like the bees are humming the song.

  • The hottest freestyle beat to ever be put in an SNES game.

  • This music will live on for sure.... I can literally listen to this all day...

  • My very favorite music for my favorite game I love the softness of it and how it hops around and gives me a good sensation.

  • In Gba this was indeed called Kannon's Klaim

  • things that define my childhood:

    90's Nickelodeon shows

    Dr. Seuss books

music from Donkey Kong Country 2, specifically this track

  • now I'm sad for selling my snes.

  • Once I grabbed my SNES, and this game just to run in the level and listen to this song.

    Legendary

  • Hmm...

Is it just me, or does this sound like it would go great mixed with the underground theme from SMW2: Yoshi's Island?

  • Keh!

  • Comment removed

  • it's actually called "mining melancholy"

  • Mining Melancholy isn't the official name. I can see why they call you "Average"KongPlayer.

  • well sorry... no1 calls me average i call myself average so i dont sound like a jerk and also i always called it kannon's klaim but recently i went on an ost website and it's called mining melancholy and i saw it on different websites so i assumed sorry for having an oppinion

  • It's alright, I wasn't trying to be rude. It's just that you didn't bother reading this video's info (which clarifies that). You only commented to correct me which in turn made you seem ignorant. I shouldn't have responded how I did, I admit.

Also, that wasn't an opinion. You were stating your claim as fact. There's a difference, buddy

  • Comment removed

  • @ArichDKC @AverageKongPlayer guys calm down lol._.

  • @ArichDKC A nice, very prudent dispute. I'm glad there are two people who can disagree about something and keep it PG, I felt the call to praise you ArichDKC and AverageKongPlayer and to encourage you to always be considerate of the other person... always try to be respectful and never, ever let anger or ignorance speak for you. We don't always know everything, that's why we have to learn! To keep this on topic... this piece is gorgeous. Thanks ArichDKC for the upload.

  • @ArichDKC Yeah.... obviously big difference >_>

  • @ArichDKC Damn, your answer is briliant as the music is :D

  • this is one of my favorite game of all times

i remember playing this game when i was 4 and now im 14.

  • zingers sing it 1:25

  • I loved that bit because you always just managed to get round to where the zingers showed up as the music changed.

  • Haha... great you noticed that :D

I always thought ii to be just wind noise lol.

  • you could just play this game over and over. it never got boring.

and the amount of great tracks they had in these dk games was insane.

  • Kids these days dont know what video games are.

They dont know about SNES or NES.

Back in the day these were the games, I would play SNES games anyday over xbox!

    RETRO GAMES FOR LIFE!

  • Replay value!!!!!!! we don't have anymore

  • i somewhat agree,Im 11 and kids in my class only play stuff like xbox 360 and all that crud :(

  • Ah yes, the time when games were games... not gimmicks.

  • but those are my fav systems (snes & nes & 64 ) when I was around 3 I played those systems like crazy!

  • I'll tell ya: SMW2: Yoshi's Island, DKC2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 were defining staples in my video game life.

  • me too. the only xbox games i liek are fallout 3, oblivion morrowind and fable. they can be played for a long time

  • fable 2 i like, but i can play fps's for ever, cod4 and mw2 all the way. but nothing has or ever will compared to dkc 1,2,3 on SNES

  • @Rastapanda11 YES YES YES YES I LOVE YOU

  • @Rastapanda11 What are you, an 80 year old?

  • @JonnyJinx04

Na I'm more like 20 years old that knows his shit.

Oh by the way, Fuck Halo!

  • @Rastapanda11 Sorry, but you're more like a moron who thinks they're older than they really are. Don't try to talk down to "kids" that like Halo, because you're just a kid yourself.

Some day, you'll get over this little nostalgia trip, and realise games, good or old, have the potential to be good. You don't "know your shit" at all. Learn to appreciate all games, then I'll take you seriously.

By the way, Halo games are good. DKC games are good. This is irrelevant.

  • @Rastapanda11

    thats not true!

me and my best friedn(iam 17years old and my freidn 16 years old)we know what N64 and SNES

we play a lot on this consoles and enjoy it:)

supermario donkey kong f zero much games more are the begin of a era

okay much of the kids dont know what SNES but u cant say that all dont know it

the old video games are very good the graphic isnt good but the gameplay is very awesome:)

    peace:)

  • @Rastapanda11 Cranky?

  • @Rastapanda11 The DKC games are some of my favorites, and while i'd agree that teh quality of games has perhaps gone down, i'd be remiss if i didn't point out some awesome modern games , like RE4 and Brawl.

  • @hadomaru

    And Donkey Kong Country Returns!

  • @Rastapanda11 My first console was the NES, and I wasn't even born in the 80's. :)

  • @Rastapanda11 that's what our parents said about Yarr's Revenge and Asteroids.

  • @Rastapanda11 agreed.

  • @Rastapanda11 You realize this just makes you a nostalgia fag unable to see that the only difference between games now and then is better tech.

Some games, are just as good as the classics, some are better.

  • I wonder if those zingers in the choir...

  • oh yeah this one hits the spot too.

  • Awesome song!

  • The best music..

  • 1:25- 1:45 is like..."mmm" on my mouth

  • this song is like herione...

  • song is so dope. blaze and listen to this shit. its sweet. i luv dkc 123 brings back good memories of gaming with fam and friends

  • You're so right! Blazing to this shit is fucking sweet, the bass is kick ass. Stickerbush Symphony is also another good one to smoke up for.

  • It's weird how much Donkey Kong influenced my musical taste. Before I knew what industrial music was, this is what I always imagined whenever I saw industrial settings or drove by industrial areas. There are some associations from childhood you just never forget.

  • So true!

  • I realised this last year. Everytime I saw these smoke-stacks when I walked through campus I would think of the Fear Factory level music from the first DKC. I still do!

  • I've been searching for this track for years... one of those you hear it in your head occasionally, but you've no idea where to look. Thanks Youtube and thanks for the upload ArichDKC!

  • No i dont think so.

  • i just love this song!

  • Isn't it called "Mining Melancholy"?

  • Nah, it's called "One of the Best tracks in Gaming History".

Just kidding. It is, yes, and it plays in Windy Well, Squawk's Shaft (LOL at the name...) and Kannon's Klaim, which is the name most people give to it.

  • yeah it's because Kannon's Klaim is the first level u hear it in in DKC2 lol

  • ROFL i love you ! XP

  • Sometimes, yes. In the DKC2 GBA sound test, however, it's called Kannon's Klaim.

  • do not work in gba it is in options/loooooove this song!!!

  • I agree with fareel2

I know this beat would make a sick rap beat

I want to do it, I wrote a song to a beat this would go perfectly to

and if the beats were lined up this song would go sick with nuts & bolts from dkc3

  • ANOTHER HOT ONE!!!!!

  • are those zingers you know those flying bees

  • i like 1:25 to 1:45

  • hell yea, thats the best part of the song it should be sampled 2 a rap song!!

  • Amen

  • lol, and man i so would do it if i just had a laptop!! i can make some pretty good beats on fl studio!!

  • A rap song? The hell is wrong with you?

  • you creepy bastard...

  • wot? =o

  • im sure u didnt mean that tho! lol hopefully

  • I don't disagree.

  • 1:25- 1:45 is indeed amazing ^_^

    Awesome game.

  • BADASS!

  • Bssssss ^^

  • how do you do the music test on this game?

  • press down many time after create a new game

  • DKC2 was, in my opinion, the best in the series. It had a really great soundtrack, it provided an interesting twist in the video game world with making the main protagonist get captured and the sidekick have to rescue him (not counting the atrocity of Mario is Missing), and it provided more animal buddies like Squitter. Not to mention that Dixie is badass. XD

  • Also it took everything that made the orignial awesome and just perfected it. And then perfected on THAT perfection. DKC3 was kinda cool but DKC2 is the best

  • 2>3=1 for me

  • yeah...this part is my fav part,too.

  • 1:25->1:45

    AMAZING

  • I entirely agree. It's beautiful.

  • I love that part too.

  • yeah, it´s kinda mysterious.

  • Those Zingers singing used to scare me.

  • Bssssss

  • coughusedtocough

  • I don't know if anyone has ever noticed this, but Kannon's Klaim and Rockface Rumble's( from DKC 3, the mountain level music) sound VERY similar. Just pointing that out.

  • cool!

  • lol, they're my 2 favorite dk songs

  • this song has a cool feel

  • why don't they make video game music like this for the latest Donkey Kong Games? What was the most recent... DK64? I don't remember much of the DK64 soundtrack but i'll never forget the original Donkey Kong Country soundtracks!

  • Mining the ore all the day...

    Clang clang goes the pick..

    Bang bang goes the TNT...

Gotta make sure theres no cave ins...

  • Oddly enough, this tune wasn't included in the official soundtrack to the game... Why it wasn't is beyond me; it's class.

  • The GBA version of the song sounds way better, but this one still sounds pretty darn good. This, too, is my favorite song in the game.

    Thanks for uploading!

  • Favorite song in the game. Next to Lockjaw's Saga. IMO They can't make a better mine theme.

  • Er... in-game music test? How?

  • when u start a new game , you'll have to choose if u want to do one player, two player team, or two player contest.. if u got to the bottom one and keep pressing down you'll find it =]

  • That's something I didn't know about...does it work on the GBA too???

  • no idea man , i never had the gba version but try it ! it might work im not sure =]

  • :*( Ahhh man...I hope you get one.

  • In the GBA, type "Onetime" as a cheat code.

  • ...so there is a way...cool. :*)

  • So long ago already, still shivers at that song: best in game, best in game industry. Thanks for youtubing it dude :-)

  • Man! 01:26 - 01:45! It scared me when I was 5 (when I first played) and even now, 8 years later, it still freaks me out! Thanks for uploading so much! :D

  • no way. it's the best part of the song

  • And the spookiest :P

  • One of my favorite DK tracks. The 90's were the best years in the gaming industry.

  • 90s kids...we da best

  • Word.

  • I love all musci from that game

  • I love playng this song on the piano

  • wen i was 9 playin this level i always thought at 1:24 the bees and dragon flies were singin

  • I still do lmao

  • I thought the bees were humming this, too! Damn, I miss this game so much!

  • I love playing this on the guitar.

  • can u send me the tabs of this song so i can play it on guitar? plz? pretty pretty plz? PLEASE?!!?!?!!?!?!?!?

  • lol. Sorry buddy, But I don't do tabs. Its really easy to learn though. same with stickerbush symphony, and flight of the zinger.

  • how do u learn em?
