Yes seeing this brought it all back, in 1958 I remember the odd depressed state I was in after leaving the theater, I wasn't quite right for the rest of the day and had nightmares for weeks. Great movie to take a 6 year old to.
This was originally released in 1958, and also featured Ross Martin in a brief appearance at the beinning. The moody score is by Nathan Van Cleave, who would create a similar bleak-sounding piano score for "THE TWILIGHT ZONE" episode "The Midnight Sun" in 1961. Art Gilmore is the trailer's announcer here...
