im soooo debating between this and the ruger sp101 snubby for ccw. still trying to convince myself into buying a revolver and i heard this has the better trigger out of the box.
@FUdirtbag Good for you! Ruger is a great company, I have the lcp which I use for ccw. I love the sp101, it's a great revolver, but the Smith is an all around better revolver. No one comes even close to the craftsmanship of a smith. The finish is better, the trigger is a dream, and if your thinking about carrying it, the smith will save you about 4 oz, which isn't a huge amount but when comparing a 26oz gun to a 21 oz gun you'll notice it.
i am thinking of getting the pro series model of this gun and using it for ccw. how has yours been working so far, never owned or shot a revolver other then my dads colt python.
@dp665 Well, My first recommendation for a ccw gun is that you can shoot the gun well, and that you can find a spot where it carries effectively. I carry a ruger lcp for ccw, and I strap this bad boy on when I'm hiking. I think Smith and Wesson is a great company, and in my opinion I think you can't get a better revolver, but like I said that's just my opinion.
you keep this in a safe for home defense?? Do you think the criminal will wait for you to get your pistol? I keep mine in my top dresser drawer loaded and ready to grab in a moments notice!!! Good luck!
i heard that the Rossi firing pin will eventually break... not very reliable. i'm sad now because i wanted the 2" barrel so bad. :( guess i'll have to go w/ the s&w model 60. i'll learn to love her.
@leeradio13 Hey man, that's great, there's a different gun out there for everyone. I've never used nor experienced a Rossi firearm. I love my Smith & Wesson. Please let me know how the Rossi turns out for you, good luck!
@CelticRoad i will. this is one of the reasons why i go to work everyday. :) yeah, this model 60 and the Rossi 462 almost looks identical. the rossi is just a bit stubbier and heavier... great job on the review! thanks.
@leeradio13 It's a .357 so you can shoot .38's through it as well. But you definitely can not shoot .357's out of a .38. There is too much power, you will destroy your gun for sure, and possibly yourself in the process, depending on the make and model a .357 cartridge may not even fit in the cylinder of a .38
Beautiful heater im gunna get a model 60 i did want the 686 plus but its way too much an the model 60 will be my first i just have to wait for my new york permit to come in the mail
Good vid. I know one gun store that sells me one only slightly used. A lady did not like the recoil. I love recoils. Anyway, the owner sells it to me for $500. What do you think? Beautiful revolver.
If this gun is for home defense why didn't you go with a longer barrel larger capacity gun? I have a 6 inch ruger GP 100 that I use as my main home defense weapon and beside the longer site radius you get better powder burn with the longer barrel over this one. Just curios why you chose this one and not something else.
@traingp7 Well, this gun is my home defense for two reasons. First, I purchased this with the intent of concealed carry, and I didn't have the money to buy multiple guns at the time, so I chose a smaller option. Second, this is the gun I shoot the most, so I am most comfortable with it. I would rather trust my life with something that I am comfortable with and shoot well. It's not the most logical option, when you compare it to other weapons like the GP 100, but it works for me.
