I read a comment once that this song was about hip hop and not depression and that angle gives it a whole lot more meaning to me. Lines like "she like to scream so the neighbours might hear her" and "I be going slow until she tell me do it faster" just make more sense if the girl is hip hop or a song and describes the way goes hard on a beat. It's like he's trying to leave hip hop but it's a part of him and he'd die without it. I recommend listening to each line as if it were hip hop.
