VAG also quickly raise the prices for the parts that break down the most, including those with inherently shitty designs from the factory.

Excellent result. But in real life, any number of things can happen, as we know. These dummies won't necessarily have survived any of these crashes. Scary stuff.
@whattheheck1000 I don't think anyone can say there would ever be definite survival. All sorts of things can happen in an accident, there are so many variables, and human life so fragile, that even in the best of cars, people can die. Princess Diana was in an S-Class Mercedes Benz, one of the safest cars at that time, and she died. Drive safely my friend!
@dialyt55 The S-Class of Princess Diana had an offset impact into a concrete pillar at 105 km/h (65 mph). Thats much faster than the NCAP standard (remember: twice the speed = four times the energy). And no one in the car was wearing seat belts (!). Trevor Rees-Jones, her bodyguard, even survived this massive impact. And this was in 1997 - when the most cars achieved 2 - 3 stars. Considering this facts, the S-Class W140 is one of the safest cars ever built...
@whattheheck1000 Disagree to that, when a 12 wheeler hit u on the speedway no matter what u drive will just be crushed to nothingness...unless u're driving an Oshkosh MRAP armoured ATV, that's another story.
@kopial I was speaking of definite survival in a crash just like the one shown in the video, but if a 12 wheeler hits you on a speedway... even in a 5 star... you're a goner.
I love the VM Golf, but I am student and I haven't the money to buy this is, so i think my first car will be an other one,.. I am sad, but that's life
@MusikLehrling My driving instructer has one of these. I loved it and it had the nice TDI engine, but of course I can't afford one and the insurance would be crazy for a 2 litre diesel. It is the safest car rated by NCAP in 2009 though.

Even Ford's Focus is not as well-made. I worked for Uni-com & was trapped it. Don't believe all this Ford have same qualitymore reliable then VW bullshit. A Focus TDCi might look very solid to look at on the outside but inside it falls apart & everything cracks/snaps/splits down below if you are not careful. Diesel engines are made of chocolate & during rain-fall you often find water droplets running over the inside rubber-seals. Something you don't get in a Golf
@1ns4ne1d10t I agree with you here, a TCDi engine is a PSA Peugeot Citroen engine that has been 'suposidly fettled' by BMW engineers, but its still a PSA engine and would never beat BMW or VW for supreme quality. Fords have the MORAL value as it is seemingly cheaper.
TDCi (excluding 1.8 ED) - Is a PSA engine that is developed far worse in terms of reliability than a normal PSA thanks to Ford's own venture using rubbish companies like Delphi. I can believe that some of the PSA engines are fettled by BMW but that is probably only for the units that are going in the 1.6D Mini Cooper. Basically the bottom line is... You pay for what you get. Ford Focus is cheaper more equipped than a Golf but be prepared for the bad Cust/Serv & DMF/Injector/PCM/Clutch Bills.
I know, my girlfriend has complained about a dealer ''sales executive'' who was magnetising his eyes on her very nice body when she took her RS for its first service, a pervert working for a car dealer!!! There was also a fault with the air con, it was spraying gasses into the car; the dealer said ''a seal has probably sprung a leak''. Tell that he was lying about it.
Ford will employ any idiot as a sales executive, as long as they are a good liar. My cousin Dan worked there as an agency valet for the Shirley branch. I was picking him up one evening from there after his shift. I was parked with 2-wheels on the kerb & one of the staff walked upto my car & said to me "get your shit off the entrance now" I jumped out of my car & squared up to him, we were both right up in eachothers faces nose-to-nose. If it wasn't for the PCSO I would have torn out his lungs.
It just goes to show you who's wages & bonuses you are paying whenever you buy a Ford. For a well-dressed sales-man to come marching up to a shaven-headed guy in tracksuit bottoms sat in a Seat Leon to start swearing at him & speaking to him in a bullying manner instead of asking him to politely move because he may not have realised he was causing an obstruction, makes you wonder. Thing is... He didn't care that anyone was around watching. What a professional attitude to have.
@songer885 i feel decently lucky i got to ride in one at all. it was just recently, in march. and i did not want to get out of the thing. it was the best car ever.
@jrd476 if only their reliability could just be that tiny step further onto the plane with the bland but indistructable japanese cars, then they woulod be perfect
@Carfreak1177 Saab? Saab is one of the shittiest cars around today. Its got nothing to do with Saabs of the old days. Since it was taken by GM, they've started making crap cars that seem like american cars. Its a shame to ruin such a badge.
@Shacklebound OK then name a non-German manufacturer who can make something similar to a BMW or Merc and who has taken a significant share of the market?
@jrd476 I'm Italian and I HATE italian cars, fiat and Marchionne, it's breaking down italian economy and employment subsystem. But look at the Alfa Romeo MiTo crash test, if you will. It's SAFER than this golf and it's B-segment, not C as golf. Then, let's see: PEUGEOT. Or Renault, which has made of quality standards in safety its identity. HONDA and TOYOTA have the highest manufacturing quality ever, in facts their engine are the least exposed to failures and wear.
@Shacklebound It's not safer than a golf. Get your shit right. Golf is much safer. Go check euroNCAP's site before posting shit like this. Also the golf got the "safest car of 2009" award beating volvo xc60. I am not a fanboy and I don't suck any manufacturer's balls, I choose which is best for me. Toyotas hondas and ALL french cars are crap IMO. As for Alfa romeo's they produce very few models so they had to be the best, they stuggle to beat VW when VAG provides 20 times more models than alfa.
@neofyt05 ...Ok... There must be something wrong with you. 1-The %'s you repeated are the same as mine. What is the meaning of 'get your shit right'? is it your way to say "ok, you are right?".
Unfortunately youtube disabled writing links in comments, otherwise I would link you that EuroNCAP made TWO (2, can you read?) tests of Golf6, one before the new testing scheme, and another after the new scheme. in the OLDER scheme, MiTo and Golf were comparable and MITO was safer.
@Shacklebound Dude are you high? You said Child: 61% and i said child: 84%. And no the MiTo is not safer, the Giulietta yes, the MiTo no.This is the last response to you.
@neofyt05 you Forget that fiat group provides the bodyworks/shells or monoqoques what ever you call them for: Fiat Bravo; Alfa giulietta, and also Opel Astra and in 2012 also for Chrysler so they had to be the safest because they are used for more than 1 brand
I really think they are slightly safer than golf mark 5 or 6 but that is discutable; anyway Italy makes at least same safe cars as german ones and if not safer too and if you know the first Golf was designed by an italian
@215alessio i didn't say anything about italy and italians. They have my respect, really. Check euroNCAP for ratings. Btw the new golf is designed by an italian too. Just FYI the golf mkiv (1998) has a rating of 4/5.
@jrd476 And I forgot: type on google 'Reliability chart for automotive industry' or something like this. Scion, Honda and Toyota are the first ones. VW is number 21st and BMW is 26th. Even Ford, Suzuki, KIA and Mazda are more reliable than VW. But LISTEN, I like German cars very much, I'm serious. But it's no sense to idolize them as the best in the world. I don't really care if they are gonna become the first global car manufacturing country. Quality is one thing, market share is another.
Taking car advice from CBS? Theres a reason more then 50% of cars are imports. In rural areas where I live there was nothing but American cars, now their imports, even the old people have switched, they all drive accords and old people are always less likely to change.
Attention to detail is terrible on Fords, they are a nightmare to work on, going under the hood is like walking through a mine field. And now with eco boost thats so annoying, its called turbo charging and its OLD news.
Dear EURONCAP, please make your tests at 50mph

This comment has received too many negative votes show
pretty ridicolous test.
In the real life no one will crash at 64 with a golf but at an average of 120/130 km/H.
I wanna see a crash test at that speed....

The difference is Quality!
Somthing that VW has recentlly been lacking.
Now I know for a fact European cars can be very reliable. I have a 1987 Volvo with 689K. you cant tell me thats not a good car.

too bad German cars are not as reliable.

FACT: No one can build cars like the Germans, so any debate is pointless.

1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
@1ns4ne1d10t I agree with you here, a TCDi engine is a PSA Peugeot Citroen engine that has been 'suposidly fettled' by BMW engineers, but its still a PSA engine and would never beat BMW or VW for supreme quality. Fords have the MORAL value as it is seemingly cheaper.
ROCKSOLID19 2 years ago

ROCKSOLID19 2 years ago
Ford will employ any idiot as a sales executive, as long as they are a good liar. My cousin Dan worked there as an agency valet for the Shirley branch. I was picking him up one evening from there after his shift. I was parked with 2-wheels on the kerb & one of the staff walked upto my car & said to me "get your shit off the entrance now" I jumped out of my car & squared up to him, we were both right up in eachothers faces nose-to-nose. If it wasn't for the PCSO I would have torn out his lungs.
1ns4ne1d10t 2 years ago
It just goes to show you who's wages & bonuses you are paying whenever you buy a Ford. For a well-dressed sales-man to come marching up to a shaven-headed guy in tracksuit bottoms sat in a Seat Leon to start swearing at him & speaking to him in a bullying manner instead of asking him to politely move because he may not have realised he was causing an obstruction, makes you wonder. Thing is... He didn't care that anyone was around watching. What a professional attitude to have.

@jrd476 I think that germans and the swedes make the best cars, Mercedes BMW Saab and Volvo
Carfreak1177 1 year ago
@Carfreak1177 Saab? Saab is one of the shittiest cars around today. Its got nothing to do with Saabs of the old days. Since it was taken by GM, they've started making crap cars that seem like american cars. Its a shame to ruin such a badge.

@jrd476 Germans are IMMENSELY able to do incredibly high-quality cars. This is 100% correct.
That -no one- can build cars like them is 99.999% WRONG.
Shacklebound 1 year ago
@Shacklebound OK then name a non-German manufacturer who can make something similar to a BMW or Merc and who has taken a significant share of the market?
jrd476 1 year ago
@jrd476 I'm Italian and I HATE italian cars, fiat and Marchionne, it's breaking down italian economy and employment subsystem. But look at the Alfa Romeo MiTo crash test, if you will. It's SAFER than this golf and it's B-segment, not C as golf. Then, let's see: PEUGEOT. Or Renault, which has made of quality standards in safety its identity. HONDA and TOYOTA have the highest manufacturing quality ever, in facts their engine are the least exposed to failures and wear.
Shacklebound 1 year ago
@Shacklebound It's not safer than a golf. Get your shit right. Golf is much safer. Go check euroNCAP's site before posting shit like this. Also the golf got the "safest car of 2009" award beating volvo xc60. I am not a fanboy and I don't suck any manufacturer's balls, I choose which is best for me. Toyotas hondas and ALL french cars are crap IMO. As for Alfa romeo's they produce very few models so they had to be the best, they stuggle to beat VW when VAG provides 20 times more models than alfa.
neofyt05 1 year ago
@neofyt05 WV Golf 6: Adult: 97% Child: 61% Pedestrian: 61% Safety Assist: 71%
Alfa Romeo Giulietta : Adult: 97% Child: 85% Pedestrian: 63% Safety Assist: 86%
I took the Giulietta result instead of MiTo beacuse they are same segment (C) and they both have the new EURONCAP test scheme.
You Idiot.
Shacklebound 1 year ago
@Shacklebound For once again get your shit right. It's
WV Golf 6: Adult: 97% Child: 84% (not 61) Pedestrian: 61% Safety Assist: 71%
Alfa Romeo Giulietta : Adult: 97% Child: 85% Pedestrian: 63% Safety Assist: 86%
And we were talking about the MiTo not the giulietta. I just corrected you because your comment was wrong and misleading. So golf IS safer than MiTo.
neofyt05 1 year ago
@neofyt05 Mito is a smaller car (microcar class), the good design deceives it ofcourse and let it look like a sportster.
The reality: it is much smaller as a golf and even smaller as a Polo, the safety standards of the Mito however are best in its own class
215alessio 1 year ago
@neofyt05 ...Ok... There must be something wrong with you. 1-The %'s you repeated are the same as mine. What is the meaning of 'get your shit right'? is it your way to say "ok, you are right?".
Unfortunately youtube disabled writing links in comments, otherwise I would link you that EuroNCAP made TWO (2, can you read?) tests of Golf6, one before the new testing scheme, and another after the new scheme. in the OLDER scheme, MiTo and Golf were comparable and MITO was safer.
Shacklebound 1 year ago
@Shacklebound Dude are you high? You said Child: 61% and i said child: 84%. And no the MiTo is not safer, the Giulietta yes, the MiTo no.This is the last response to you.
neofyt05 1 year ago
@neofyt05 at least you didn't use the word 'shit' for once :) this is so good.
Anyway, check the euroncap website, I swear, Golf VI made 2 tests, one in 2008 and one in 2010.
No response needed. Bye!
Shacklebound 1 year ago
@neofyt05 you Forget that fiat group provides the bodyworks/shells or monoqoques what ever you call them for: Fiat Bravo; Alfa giulietta, and also Opel Astra and in 2012 also for Chrysler so they had to be the safest because they are used for more than 1 brand
I really think they are slightly safer than golf mark 5 or 6 but that is discutable; anyway Italy makes at least same safe cars as german ones and if not safer too and if you know the first Golf was designed by an italian
215alessio 1 year ago
@215alessio i didn't say anything about italy and italians. They have my respect, really. Check euroNCAP for ratings. Btw the new golf is designed by an italian too. Just FYI the golf mkiv (1998) has a rating of 4/5.
Find me a safer car cheaper than golf.
neofyt05 1 year ago
@neofyt05 okey, but to find a cheap car with same safety standards, New opel astra Fiat Bravo Renault Megane,
Safer I dunno it is all discutable the differences are minimal
215alessio 1 year ago
@jrd476 And I forgot: type on google 'Reliability chart for automotive industry' or something like this. Scion, Honda and Toyota are the first ones. VW is number 21st and BMW is 26th. Even Ford, Suzuki, KIA and Mazda are more reliable than VW. But LISTEN, I like German cars very much, I'm serious. But it's no sense to idolize them as the best in the world. I don't really care if they are gonna become the first global car manufacturing country. Quality is one thing, market share is another.

CBS stats that Ford surpassed Toyota and Honda in reliability and quality.
Please look it up!!!
Catlow20 2 years ago
Taking car advice from CBS? Theres a reason more then 50% of cars are imports. In rural areas where I live there was nothing but American cars, now their imports, even the old people have switched, they all drive accords and old people are always less likely to change.
Attention to detail is terrible on Fords, they are a nightmare to work on, going under the hood is like walking through a mine field. And now with eco boost thats so annoying, its called turbo charging and its OLD news.
SuperleggeraVW 2 years ago
OK then why did consumer reports say the same thing?
Ford's 90% reliability to Toyota's 86%.
Not much but still it's more.
