Hi 'monkmsm' thanks for viewing. The grey is connected to a live & when the micro switch 'makes' the orange brings on the boiler, or on some systems; both the boiler & circulation pump.
The Room thermostat & Cylinder stat control the sw/live to the synchronous motor on respective 2 port valves.

Use continuity tester across micro-switch, press it, tester gives a reading in ohms, done. Can do it in less time than 9 minutes.

Good video, learnt some new things regarding testing, the only thing i can mention is u didnt say where the switch live on the grey wire comes from.
Room stat, cylinder stat etc.
Good video, would like to see others.
