@AtheistBrit Hey, thanks for not taking that wrong way, clearly you make a point to be well informed and I didn't mean to try and put you down or anything, and it was more just some of the smaller theological ideas, which, watching again, different denominations believe different things, so some things you said I would disagree with, but I suppose if you are looking at Christianity in a nutshell than you're fine. Sorry if I sounded rude!
@MoonlightPlaylist It's absolutely fine! Thanks for responding back. I was going for more of a "Christianity in a nutshell" with this particular video. I was raised Church of England so that has inevitably skewed my experiences towards that. I'm learning all the time, though, so I'd love for you to send me a PM with the smaller theological ideas that you feel I may have misrepresented. Perhaps I'll learn something new :)
@AtheistBrit Haha yeah that's the thing with Christianity, and you know people's beliefs aside, if people don't accept religion that's fine, but at the end of the day you still want people to say, well, I don't agree with everything their religion says, but as people they seem like the kind of people you'd want to be around. you know, and than with Christianity you have Catholicism and all the denominations, and than they start saying these ridiculous things and it's so frustrating.
@unityspirit52 "this is funny an anti-unicornist has a belief system same as anyone. a belief in non-unicorns. thats a form an object that you dont belive in. you create an image in your mind of a thing you dont belive exists.. i havent found one anti-unicornist in my life that is omnipotent "all knowing" to know if a unicorn exists or not. I can understand not belieiving in unicorns but saying there aren't any is moronic." - see what happens when I substitute something else imaginary?
(1/2) "A dragon lives in my garage". "Where's the dragon?" you ask. "Oh, she's right here," I reply, waving vaguely. "I neglected to mention that she's an invisible dragon." You propose spreading flour on the floor of the garage to capture the dragon's footprints. "Good idea," I say, "but this dragon floats in the air." Then you'll use an infrared sensor to detect the invisible fire. "Good idea, but the invisible fire is also heatless." You'll spray-paint the dragon and make her visible.
(2/2) "Good idea, but she's an incorporeal dragon and the paint won't stick." I counter every physical test you propose with an explanation of why it won't work. Now, what's the difference between an invisible, incorporeal, floating dragon who spits heatless fire and no dragon at all? If there's no conceivable experiment that would count against it, what does it mean to say that my dragon exists? Your inability to invalidate my hypothesis is not the same thing as proving it true." Carl Sagan
@AtheistBrit I would even extend this parable in so far that imo something that has got no characteristics can´t called existing. And in addition, a lifeform has to have a certain form, in order to be called a dragon, snd how can something have a form, if it is invisible and untouchable?
amen i need tons of drugs to deal with these fucking morons, they do not make sense to me unless im high drunk tripping snorting pure caffeine and doing other psychotropic drugs that nobody has any idea exist.
I was originally raised as a hardcore fundamental Evangelical Christian, and I actually at one point "accepted Christ as my personal savior." Personally, the real debate lies not with whether some of these fairy tales in the Bible are true, but with whether "what you believe actually affects where you go when you die". After all, the Bible states plainly that who so ever believes in Him has eternal life. Really? So an event that happened 2000 years ago can give me eternal life? Crock of shit!!!

I got this from reading revelations. The thing is there is alot of stuff that I think has been left unwritten. And the reason why is to get Christians motivated to talk to people about the Gospel. Because If you don't even Paul and Jesus said you would share the blood and it would be on your hands. You see we are all responsible for not only ourselves but our surroundings as well. And that is what sin is. It is hurting others, hurting God, and hurting his creation.
@awesomenize1 See this is all just what you believe. There's no basis in fact or a grain of evidence to support what you're saying. I have absolutely no reason at all to think that any of what you've said is even remotely true. Come to me with some real evidence and then we can have a reasonable discussion.
Paul stated that after we Die the judgment he did not state that we go directly to heaven or Hell he stated the Judgment that means we go there first. What the Judgment is? It is a place were you feel the weight to its fullest extent of the crimes you have commented against yourself and others around you. This is how I believe it goes. I believe that God Judges you then he gives you the gospel. If you reject it after that. Then you do go to Hell. Now does that make more sense to you?Cont.
Ah so that is your problem. Well you are not thinking outside of the box. Nor are you studying the Bible. Fellow Christians many of them take issue even with me. Because I speculate. But scripture could very well back up my speculations. Look you are given the chance to chose it is still a choice. But I believe that even after you die God still gives you the choice to choose this. But If you feel all the guilt of all the things you did against others then why would you choose heaven. cont.
@awesomenize1 "Well you are not thinking outside of the box. Nor are you studying the Bible." Firstly, what does "thinking outside the box" even mean? The bible is supposed to be the word of god, so why is it something that's so open to interpretation and full of proven error? And FYI I have studied the bible, AT LENGTH, because I was raised a christian. I get that a lot - presumptuous christians who don't know a single thing about me claiming that I haven't studied the bible properly.
...because he had become the lover of Lilith. Lilith had many children by Samael, the Nephilim, one of which was in Eden. Adam and Eve found this child and could not stop him crying, so Adam slew the child cut him up and boiled him in a pot. Adam and Eve consumed the child and when Samael came looking he asked if they'd seen him. They both denied seeing the child and then the child spoke from inside Adams heart and said he would remain for all Adams descendants. The origin of wickedness.
@AtheistBrit Done. My problem with religion is teaching it to children, That's it, it should only be a choice an adult makes. That isn't a lot to ask.
@jacksawild Thanks for the info! Much appreciated.
I agree. Indoctrinating kids with an unfounded belief is dangerous. I'm making it a point that if/when I have kids I'll be careful to not indoctrinate them with my personal point of view (even though it's not faith-based) but rather teach them to think for themselves and evaluate things critically.
It's worse than you think. Go to genesis and there are two creation accounts. Ancient Jewish folklore explains it: Man and Woman were created equal, Adam and Lilith. Because of this Lilth refused to lie underneath Adam so Adam sent her away. He spent 140 years alone and his accidental ejaculations gave birth to many demons. After this period God creates Eve, from a rib of Adam so she will be subservient and then the hole "fall" thing happens. The serpent was called Samael, he tempted Eve...
Hello AtheistBrit, long time no talk. How are you doing?
Ok, there're basically 2 main errors (strawman) in this video. 1. Eve was not responsible (she was decieved), Adam was (Had Adam not willingly disobey, there would be no curse). 2. To sin against an infinite God is not a finite crime, it is infinite. For this reason, God himself has to pay the price, or else He would be unjust for allowing infinite sinners to have eternal life. To say that it is a finite crime implies that God is finite.
1) I didn't say Eve was responsible, in fact I said the opposite, but god held her responsible. Eve couldn't have been responsible (and for that matter, nor could Adam) because she didn't yet understand the concept of good and evil, right and wrong.
2) How is sinning against an infinite god an infinite crime? The crime itself (i.e. the act of sin) is finite. The fact that the being it is committed against an infinite being is irrelevant - the sin itself, the crime itself, is finite.
I do a palm face every time I think of my former Christian self, what rescued me from the stupidity of Religion was critical thinking. when I stepped back form my faith and started using my head I found myself thinking very similar things to what you said in this video.
The creepiest part of the story that you left out is that god knocks up a presumably teenage girl against her will, and the selfish girl does not understand she should feel lucky to have been chosen.
Your argument is very sound, thought out, and well presented. However, I've found that reason doesn't get one far with a fundie Christian. (A lady I was debating a month ago said that anything that contradicts the Bible is automatically wrong, and it just shows how much more in need of Jesus you are if you believe it.) Damn you Science!
So for these loons I lay it down in a very simple manner.
That pretty well sums it up to me. I would only add that Christians like to ignore proven fact in favor of their beliefs because they are told to by someone who hasn't proven a damn thing.
Excellent and to the point. I was looking at making a vid about the inconsistency of free will and original sin and what christians make of the story. The problem was that what they actually think about it is so hard to pin down, so illogical and reverse engineered that it gave me a head ache.
Hey make your own decisions, but you clearly don't know much about Christianity, so maybe do more research before you try and convince others.
