    1. Marriage Celebrations!

    2. A new family member is born!

    3. Retinue Expands! Pet Lion.

    [Diplomatic Announcements]

The following factions are now at war with each other:

    Carthage - House of Scipii

    Macedonia - House of Scipii

Numidia - The House of Scipii

The Greek Cities - The House of Scipii

  • @BM309K58SMERCH dude what? lol

  • @xxdomoxxkunxx

When the my turn comes, on the campaign map, I usually get blessed with good news (like marriage celebrations, Retinue expansion...etc.) when this music is playing.

And while i'm at my peak of happiness, I get shitty news such as (War declarations against me, plague breakouts...etc.)

  • @BM309K58SMERCH oh,

i didnt really fear war, since i knew if it was on land i will utterly destory them quickly

    now plague outbreaks...

  • this is a drug for me :D!!!

  • 1 person is a Gaul!

  • Sorry, just discovered this. But, did you forget the lyrics or something? Or just not know? This is not meant to be a rude comment, just asking ;)

  • De los mejores tracks del juego!

  • Wonderful! I used to stop the game play in order to listen to this, not that i found it, its perfect!

    Thank you!

  • @runescapenerd12345

    Ohey, sorry about that :D.

  • I'm currently heading up the development of an in-depth online game (OSRPG Online Simulation RPG), set around Earth in 200BCE. Starting in Rome.

The game will allow players to modify the law, as the senate. People of the Republic will vote in their favourite player in their area to represent them.

Play as a Smith. Trader. Farmer. Hunter. So forth.

I'm not one for spam, but pop me a message if you want the link. T'is some good shit. :)

    Project Terra

    Play history. Make history.

  • I really want Rome 2. Who´s with me?

  • @LordValnar Not if they make it anything like the newer games. They need to go back to the way their golden era of games worked. Empire, Napoleon, and Shogun II all suck compared to Rome and Medieval II.

  • @SergeantMatt13 Do you hate Shogun 2?

  • @ajbenius Shogun II is miles better than Empire or Napoleon, but due to the fact that every available faction is identical to every other, it gets very boring. Medieval II and Rome put it to shame, not even counting the hundreds of mods for each one. That's another thing, the new ones have very limited moddability.

  • its because she pronounces the latin words with her English accent, which actually sucks

  • @ANDRUK well no one knows what type of accent latin was spoken in...

  • Putting these beautiful words together, (according to Ursuslratissimus) it sounds as if she is basically saying this.

    -- a man is born,

-- Man falls in love, marriage.

--The man is drafted out for a war.

-- the man miss's his family, and eventurally falls asleep in his warcamp.

-- Yet this man fights for his nation!

-- The man is dying, wounded maybe.

-- His soul being lifted with help from the gods (or god)

--He may be stolen from his family and life, but has freedom.

  • I found this. It looks like a better interpretation:

    Bellatorius victorialis (Warlike victorious)

    Erastes necessitas (lover; fate)

Rarius despondeo (I despair more infrequently)

Spiritus obdormio (A sigh; I fall asleep)

    Patriota gladiator (Countryman; gladiator)

    Afflictio ommento (Pain; I wait)

Divinitus salutare (I preserve with divine help)

    Furtivus libertas (Stolen; freedom)

  • Even though she pronounces some of the words of an English manner rather than Latin, it is an amazing song, it is Divinitus not only by name but by sound too. Romans would be proud of this, I am sure.

  • Who made this !! Is A GENIUS !

  • If you want to describe the word "peaceful" to someone, send him this link.

  • I once got this with the sassanids and thought it's some kind of rare music...

  • I thought Empire Total War was better in comparison, but I have fallen in love with this music completely.

  • 1 person got killed by the romans in campaign mode

  • @jasmokon i dont get it

  • @jasmokon Only one person? What, did Gaius just sit on his ass throughout the entire campaign and only waged war with the tiny rebel towns nearby? Lame.

  • Brings me back to those long nights with my dinosaur as a kid... :)

  • rome total war the best series of creative assembly history

  • damn... without that NERVER BORING song.. rome wouldnt be what it is now. it creates the epic atmosphere.

  • everytime i play rtw,i always want to hear this song playing, its awesome :D

  • Sorry to bother but can you please tell me from where did you get all the songs of Rome TW ?

  • @Narcis673 well you can either go to the data/sounds folder in your rome total war folder and find them there, problem is that they are all clumped together in a single soundtrack, or you can go to google type jeff van dyck and find rome total war from the games section of the web

  • @rometotalwarviper thank you ever so much

  • hearing it it is like I've lived on that time long ago..like I've had a past life in greece or rome..

  • @silverkarate Welcome to the world of ancestor worship ;-)

  • nice music but when you pay attention to it, the english accent is rly anoying. well not rly anoying... but just historically incorect, though, probably no one knows how the REAL latin accent sounded.

  • @tyrulvsson

i always think the same thing when i hear this song in-game :p

i think the latin way to pronounce it would be more italian-like though, but as you said, unless they wrote it down fonetically in some way, we'll never know for sure i guess

  • @tyrulvsson She pronounces most of the things pretty good -- a few lapses into English pronunciation. Yes, there is no recorded audio of a native classical Latin speaker for obvious reasons, but we're pretty sure how it's pronounced (differently as well to Church latin). The majority of listeners wouldn't have a clue between the two nor how it *should* sound ... but, it still speaks to the heart.

  • Divine.

  • beautifull

  • sorry to bother you but is all of the your rome total war soundtracks just of the main game and not any of the expansion packs

  • @TheEurosar I uploaded the music from the main game which was the same music used in the expansion packs of Rome Total War.

  • One of the most beautiful songs in any game ever! Sometimes i just sat on the campaign map to listen to this song :)

  • I really have something for this song, it has no explaination. Managing your cities and armies with that music in background is magic and I really miss it when playing mods

  • Furitivus, libertas... (furtive love, freedom)

  • This might be the loveliest song in RTW. It's haunting, mysterious, and melancholy. I think it was one of the reasons why I fell in love with this game. It seems to capture for me the mystery of ancient Rome. Again, very creative, and kudos to the Jeff Van Dyck who composed all the music and his wife who has a lovely voice, and is reported to be very pretty too.

  • nostalgia :D

  • Whats the Gaul song in the campign (Gaul campign)

  • you can hear that her harsh english accent on her latin hahahahahah

  • Here's the lyric:

    Hellatorius victorialis

    Erastus necessitas

    Honararius despondeo

    Spiritus obdormio

    Patriota gladiator

    Afflictio ommento

    Divinitus salutaris

    Furtivus libertas

  • how it's really pronounced

    'ella-droh-lee-us vic-toh-lee-ah-lus

    et-drahs-tus nah-say-sit-nahs!

  • No, it would be...

    Heil-ah-tor-ee-us wic-tor-ee-ahl-iis

    Er-ah-stus ne-kess-it-ahs

    Etc.

Vowels in Latin are nearly always long, c's are always pronounced hard, j's are always pronounced as 'i', and v's are always pronounced as 'w'.

  • @Wotsalthor

Not always. Ciceran latin is what you are describing. Although it is annoying when some deviate from Ciceran latin, the type taught in schools, it isn't necessarily incorrect.

  • oh my nostalgic god!!! i love this ambient music, i only play rome just to get zoned out on the world map! haha! her voice... it's so soothing!! transforming..

  • @azura13liss I know the feeling. I sometimes just sat there looking at the map and cities as the music played. very magical.

  • I saved the lady who sings this song as a friend on face book, she's pretty hot! yes legionarioXIX, very captivating.. very engaging music. so much so, that possess equivalent effects such as a potent drug that can induce a state of euphoria, and get you totally stoned... for hours on end. now i realize why it took me forever to just conquer just the mediterranean seaboard. :)

  • @azura13liss dude wat id her facebook name

  • I felt in love with this music man, i have to downloadit!

  • The Phalanx formations can be easily destroyed by soldiers armed with AK47! That's what I heard!

  • that girl relax me when i play sometimes i play just to heard that beautyful voice

  • the best rome total war song

  • It is still a deserving 5 though =Þ.

  • This song is so annoying though after you've heard it for 100 hours planning out strategies on a overhead map XD.

  • Haha...that was pretty funny.

  • i pretty much attack macedonia right away with only enough time to condense an army, i even did this playing as the greeks with the roman scipii attacking the western part of my empire, i never did lose a city.

  • this is simply the fact that your playing against a computer, a good tactician would know what you were doing and at least attempt to counter it.

try a strategy that alexander used, attack forward with phalanx and attack the rear or sides with cavalry, it will decimate them.

  • The Phalanx is an over-rated formation. The Romans by the time of the Caesar had pretty much mastered defeating the Phalanx formations. The phalanx is only good for a frontal attack. They can neither flank efficiently nor can they sustain missile fire as well as the Roman testudo . Light troops and even missile cavalry can decimate phallanx formations easily.

  • the phalanx is meant to be used against cavalry and other phalanx, of course it will lose against light troops and missle troops, on the flip side both of those lose against cavalry..... because they are not meant to be employed against them.

  • I don't think even during the time of Alexander or even during the time of Hannibal did the Greeks or others extensively use the Phalanx against cavalry. No commander would throw his cavalry into a phalanx because of their obvious advantage however they were to be confronted with infantry. Cavalry would have been used to flank them or run them down from the rear.

  • if it counts, alexander did use his phalangists against the persian chariots, but yes calvary was not used lightly. however phalanx was used to discourage a cavalry attack against the skirmishers that were behind them.

alexander's phalangists formed the bulk of his army, he used them to engage troops and then his famous companion cavalry would charge them from the rear or sides.

  • I usually "decapitate" his army by overloading on cavalry and charging his horsemen at the beginning of the battle. It the phalanx turns you may lose some horses, but once his army loses it's horses it's pretty much naked.

From then on you can lure his phalanx into traps if they chase your cavalry, make them chase you, then hit them from behind, and as soon as they turn hit them from the front and they route.

The only problem is his general who sometimes screws the whole thing up.

  • love this... thanks for posting! this song is epic

  • Wow this song really touches me!

  • Her voice is very pretty and the song is relaxing I just wish she pronounced the Latin correctly.

  • egybt is ridiculously easy if you condense your troops, if you want a challenge try taking on macedonia at the beginning of the game.

  • "Divinitus"

    by Angela van Dyck

    hellatorius victorialis (warlike; victory)

    erastus necessitas (lovers; death)

    honararius despondeo (honour; despair)

    spiritus obdormio (life; death)

    patriota gladiator (country; fighter)

    afflictio ommento (pain; waiting)

    divinitus salutaris (heaven; salvation)

    furtivus libertas (furtive love; freedom

  • You did writed this from italyan?

  • It1s realy good

  • @yosef208

Im sorry to say but theres a few faults in your translation like: necessitas = need...

  • @yosef208 Shame however that this was sung by an American, it sounds so crappy like that. They should've hired an Italian for this.

  • @FearThisChannel I agree with you. So sad to hear latin in an nordic language...

  • @FearThisChannel

Not only that. The grammar is also a catastrophe. That's not the correct latin. I know what the writes wanted to say but he don't speak latin.

  • @yosef208

Sorry but that's not the correct translation. Actually it's completely false AND without any context. The correct translation is:

    Bellatorius victorialis (Warlike victorious)

    Erastes necessitas (lover; fate)

Rarius despondeo (I despair more infrequently)

Spiritus obdormio (A sigh; I fall asleep)

    Patriota gladiator (Countryman; gladiator)

    Afflictio ommento (Pain; I wait)

Divinitus salutare (I preserve with divine help)

    Furtivus libertas (Stolen freedom)

  • This is the most beautiful polyphonic song sung by women that I've EVER heard...

  • I played with the seleucid empire and also heard this music :D

seleucid empire rules with their heavy cavalry ;)

  • Scipiis are my Favorite Faction.

  • uuff q temaaa

  • Man, this reminds me of my early years conquering north of the italian peninsula with the Julii... my very first months playing RTW. Man, this game is epic. I wonder if there is a RTW2 as a project

  • helatorias....victorianus.....Herastus....asces,itar

  • great awesome beautifull and yet more!!

  • Relaxing..

  • Egypt can be pretty fucking tough. I remember doing the same, having huge armies go across the Aegean and attacking while attacking from the region around Alexandria with a total of 12 full banner armies. Lost 'em all without making much progress. Not a surprise though Egypt is the richest right off the bat.

  • YES INDEED! CARTHAGE!

In my game when I did conquest mode selucid empire was the 1st to go.

  • Hellatorius victorialis

    Erastus necessitas

    Honararius despondeo

    Spiritus obdormio

    Patriota gladiator

    Afflictio ommento

    Divinitus salutaris

    Furtivus libertas

  • there's a strong english accent in that music...the vowels doenst sound like latin as in spanish, italian or portuguese.

  • If i haven't played RTW for a while and listen this it makes me feel like i just bought the game and it's like the first time I play it over and over again.

  • i love this SONG!!!!!

  • When this song sounds in the game, i usually stop playing and like to hear it, it has something.

  • yeah me too i wish this song to played and in the battlefield game.Imagine thousand of troops others marching ithers wounded and others dead in the field and your emotions this time.wow!!!

  • Hellatorius victorialis

    Erastus necessitas

    Honararius despondeo

    Spiritus obdormio

    Patriota gladiator

    Afflictio ommento

    Divinitus salutaris

    Furtivus libertas

  • this song makes me remember when i had my troops rolling down russia

  • Preguides Bastard do u like hate russians?

  • lol na but i had to conquer 50 provinces and russia is easier than africa casue i dont have to put troops in boats

  • :O RUSSIAN UNITE....KA POW A WOW!

  • k fine by me but still if ya wanna send an insult ya gotta be meaner then that cause i thought you where just being rude but no hard feelings.

  • Ya im still kinda lost but I have family livin around the world and i have latin blood even if i suck in spanish so thats why im tryin 2 learn latin. right now i live in canada but on my profile i rote romania cause i was born there. but i LOVE all country's .

  • my bro is fro romania and i am from ireland

  • from

  • How did that happen?

  • we were adopted stupid

  • I asked a simple question. There's absolutely no reason to become an asshole like nearly every other person on this planet.

  • im srry i just had to go to my friends funrel also srry for spelling

  • I'm sorry to hear that, and it's completely understandable.

  • thanks

  • immigrant? from where are you anyways?

  • Yeah uhm I dont get you...

  • What I have said in these comments: No, they are not.; What I say.

  • What I say.

  • Of course, we don't really know exactly how Latin sounded.

  • No, they are not.

  • This was the best song on the game. van Dyke's wife has such a beautiful voice.

  • Despite the horrible 'r', the song itself is beautiful.

(I see this has been discussed before, but whatever.)

  • Hm, seems your mind has been collapsed again. Immigrant? I live, work, and enjoy life in my own country, and don't need the so called "better life" in your "superior country". But take a look at your greek ancestors... they were immigrants, right? This explains lots of things... your poor orthographic skills, your frustrations... Just be cool, drink some alcohol, relax!:) Maybe some racist morons were fucking around with them but things moved on:D

  • hey.. I like the way you argue.. No bad words at all, I think I'll adopt your style. Here in my country we have very rude people that speaks with terrible words and in an insulting way, it's good to know that there's a non insulting way of arguing with someone.. greetings

  • Pathetic. :) It's funny to see how frustrated you are. :) Nice chatting with you but I think i'll quit, your ignorance makes me so bored. Now I have to rest a bit... Latin with english accent gave me a terrible headache... Get a life!:D

  • You have lot to learn, kid. Maybe first try to understand what you read. Then start using punctuation marks, etc. You're 18, maybe it's not too late to learn writing in your own language. Thats it for now, I think this was already enough to make you confused. Feel free to visit Hungary. It's a great place indeed :)

  • Latin raped with english accent sounds awful. Period. So as english may sound with my accent for a native speaker. You were mindless, but no problem

  • what seems to be your problem?

  • Despite the english accent, the song itself is exceptionally beautiful!

  • I think this is the song they use, when you're viewing the water.

  • I studied latin during my highschool years and i was always learned that "-us" is pronounced "-oos", etc. It would also make sense that latin is pronounced completly different then english, since enlgish is a germanic laguage and latin gave birth to latin languages such as french and italian.

Allthings considered, i still think latin is a beautiful language, no matter how it's pronounced ;)

  • I think Latin had no accent like french or italian,in fact it had no accent at all.but the song is soooo perfect

  • every language has an accent :D

  • modern greek do not have, pity

  • i don't think we're talking about the same thing here. Pronounciation is different even wihtin a single language. Latin wasn't pronounced like english is

  • no it probably wasn't..but how could we know?i mean all languages that have roots in latin are very different now

  • too bad its with an enormous english accent, nonetheless it's just plain enchanting

  • Awesome, this was always my favourite song for the campaign map. I notice this was used only for the Roman (and maybe Greek) factions though.

    Great job MercenaryTriarii!

    -Artorius Maximus

  • Thanks Artorius. They probably only use it with Roman factions because it's in Latin.
