True, the fact that he has better villains is the sole reason why I give Walt Disney the edge over Hayao Miyazaki (come to think of it, I don't think Miyazaki films have any villains at all).

@Kersey475 True, I love Disney villans too, although to be fair, I think that was Miyazaki's strongpoint, that he could create stories with a struggle without having the typical "bad guy" in the mix. Not every story needs a bad guy, which is why I watch and enjoy Miyazaki's films. However, there's no denying that sometimes there is an opposing being standing in the way of protagonists. That is when I enjoy my dose of Disney films. You get the best of both worlds. :)

I have to disagree with NC on Scar, Scar is the representation of jealousy, pride, and resentment, First he tries to kill his nephew, then tries again, this time he murderers his own brother and then makes his nephew beleive he was responsible, that is sick and twisted, then Scar begins to lose his edge, that drive that pushed him is gone, the land is falling apart, but he's too proud and zealous to realize it, in the end his backstabbing nature dooms him, he's one of the best and interesting.

I have to disagree with you about Scar, NC. Sure, he's a whiner and doesn't accomplish much as king but to be honest I think that's what the filmmakers were going for. Scar's a coward. He's cunning and smart but afraid to really get the job done. That's why he sends the hyenas to start the stampede and only kills Mufasa when he's vulnerable hanging onto that ledge. And when he's cornered by Simba at the end, he immediately blames the hyenas which then leads right to his death.

@spiffy143 You got a good point, but Gaston wasn't really a villain rather than a jerk. In TLK the characters especially Mufasa, and Simba wouldn't suspect that Scar would try to kill them. Scar was Simbas uncle and Mufasas brother for crying out loud. You wouldn't suspect a family member to kill another family member. That's like saying Gaston is a better villain than Maleficent because he doesn't look like a villain.
