The cover by slow moving millie is her own interpretation of the music, and the smiths said they like it. If you don't, then don't listen to it and enjoy the original. Personally I like them both, and even though I've liken the smiths versions for much longer I have no problem with anyone who wants to cover it - copying is the best form of flattery!
