Heh. I was 16 then. Well... back then it was already beginning to suck with reality programming but late at night you still got real music video programming-- like AMP :) Liquid Television had gone the way of the Dodo not long before but you did have something good in the animation programming like Bevis & Butthead, The Head, Aeon Flux (the wordless originals) and The Maxx. Then there were the great interstitial bumpers like the ones that parodied Shaft. Nothing like that stuff on MTV now.

man i almost forgot The Head :' ). i remember all that stuff between dreams like Daria even if that show came later. that's why kids are more stupid every generation, fucking new brainless tv. well beavis & bitthead are not novel price but duh you get the idea...it's the same with anime, movies... music, and crap! even books, they dont read shit, they dont read at all!!!... and now you see people in his 20s speaking like they were 40 XDD

It's related to the homogenization of television programming. And fast-paced editing. As much as I like it in some art movies it's destroyed a whole generation of kids-- really affects your ability to THINK on what you have just SEEN. I used to watch all kinds of anime. Some of it is very non-cerebral with very quick editing but usually highly visual stuff. Newer anime... usually pretty uninteresting, just like most American TV. You can only do what you can to keep your own torch lit.

@rockorsario The teeny boppers of this generation (I am exactly the same age as you lol) just seem to have missed the point, the "dance / electionic" music scene has become so clouded with mass produced crap that the gems that are still being made are that much harder to find.
