We've started a TEFL social network where we are trying to build a community of TEFL teachers around the world to meet and share experiences and tips. If anyone is interested take a look at tefl-me.com. It covers lots of areas and has a blog, forum groups individual profiles and a map to indicate your location in the world to help you meet other TEFL teacher when you are on the other side of the world.
This is exactly the kind of video I was looking for. It's great to hear that somebody else had a great experience! Hopefully I'll be teaching English in Italy soon :]
To speak to people who have done TEFL in Italy, log onto the Italy group on the TEFL chalkboard community (you can google this), they will be more than happy to give you help and advice.
Hi I am going to do a itoi online TEFL course going to pay in full for it could I ask which online course you did? I want to do the 60 hour and just would like some of your feedback?
i to i is a rip off, you need a celta or the american one, can't remember the name, any school that accepts someone with i to i would probably have employed them without it, it's true, i'm not hating at all
@ruvelruvel i'm interested in knowing how you came to this conclusion. did something specific happen to you or do you know something the rest of us don't? I considered this program mainly because of this vid. Please advise. Thanks!
@ritamix33 no, i've worked as a teacher for 7 years traveling and working in language schools in no less than 10 countries at about 11 schools and all of them didn't recognize this qualification, and the ones who were less demanding, usually a non accredited school., would just accept you if you were a native speaker, such as in china, tawain, thailand , places in south america,. Speak to experienced teachers, they will say the same.
oh check out tefl dot com website and check the ads all of them require a celta or the american one, email them and ask if they accept this i to i thing, anyone who says otherwise is after your money,
You might want to log-on to the Italy group of our TEFL community Chalkboard (google TEFL chalkboard then go to groups) to get tips and advice on finding work in Italy.
I was thinking about teaching english while getting my masters in italy i'm an art history major, and already speak italian, i wonder if that's biting off more than i can chew though.
