The only people who say that custom vinyl sucks are the ones who aren't djs, and if they are djs, they obviously don't gig much. How many djs do their own edits and remixes to have the "exclusive" trax that no one else has, or to make their sets better? Why do people hate on battle djs when they choose the same path for themselves? Customization helps you to stand out. The first battle wax were custom sounds for the creators...STOP HATING!!!
nice... nothing else to say... and I can agree to acidkidadam. starter kits suck. if u stick to scratching then they'll be very unsatisfactory after learning standart techniques...
woah! arent Technics one for the pros? im just starting out and i dont think i wanna splurge on a deck that could set me back a year or 2. i just want one thats not on the high end and are they available in those music stores? eg Yamaha etc.
Hey there. I got a question. how much does a turntable(only 1) and mixer cost?specifically in Singapore. I'm hoping to get it 2nd hand. any idea where? and where can i get them vinyls?
Mad Skills Inquisitive. Awesome Mix at Live and Loaded!!!
does anyone know how to walk your fingers across the fader with the ring, middle and index finger? for some reason i just cant do it. any help appreciated
Amazing skill but i'm not too keen on this custom vinyl stuff. I think the whole point of turntabalism is searching for great records and making something amazing with them thats where the creativity comes out, its kinda communal when ure down the wax shop with all the other DJ's tryin to beat you to that coasters record you've been after :)
I dont like the idea of DJ's stayin indoors producing records and loosing that sense of community...great set tho!
i agree, but this euro-style of turntablism was so original at one point thanks to le jad, netik, rafik etc. but now i think its time a new style was found
This is sick, but the problem is that dj'ing lost its soul in '96. Noize was the last DMC DJ that bought the realness. You Might have the sickest routine with battle breaks but it don't mean shit without originality!
Saw Vajra at DMC World Finals and he killed it. My point is that when it comes to the routines that I witnessed 4 weeks ago in London, they were all BORING! 1st time I went since 2001 and it was a fraction of the event it used to be. Some dj's used just 2 records for the whole routine! DULL! What happened? Has dj'ing/turntablism run its course? What happened to the battling elements from Noize, Mr Thing, Craze, Skullys routines? Not even an intro just straight into a juggle!
We'll in terms of battle. Ah! Who gives a damn! This guy in the vid is good skill wise but he needs some "umph!" Yadadamean!?!. I think over half the videos I scene this years is the same ol' same ol'. But on some real snuff...
Kentaro actually had a lot of funk, soul and flavor in 2002. Also, his juggle patternz always changed! He flipped a funkin dirstyle record in2 a juggle! Don't tell me that routine was dull and boring! I enjoy that more than anything since craze.

one of the few recent dmc routines that has decent scratching.
even if it is custom wax, at least he changes records several times.
unfortunately, i dont see a lot of skill difference between making your own vinyl and using serato.
djaveragejoe 2 years ago 2
true but at least DMC doesnt allow serato in compettion. which would completely make battling pointless of course

I think he means its a custom record. This DJ got it made explicitly for this routine. That means you probably can't get it :P
