If can sing means that they are good at singing then yes. Not anyone can sing well, which is why those that can are rewarded. It's a simple concept really.
I really do get it.
Personally, my favourite music is by those artists that are good songwriters, not really good singers (Dylan, for instance). But the point i am making is that good singers are talented, and so rightfully get record deals.
You're also wrong with your argument, people get bored of the same songs.

Though i see no problem with this.
Yes someone who can sing very well and write very well is ideal, but i personally can't think of any such artist that exists to the extent that their songwriting is as good as the best, and their singing is.
The point is, if you are talented in something, you are rightfuly rewarded.
