America propped up the Soviet Union because saw the great potential in a long term enemy. They built the Pentagon after World War II was half over... so obviously we knew there was a long term conflict on the horizon. Who wanted this long term conflict? Who would profit from this long term conflict? The rise of the American Military Industrial Complex. Roosevelt's greatest ally in selling support for the most evil person in history, Stalin!

Russia also made a stupid peace deal with Japan during WWII. Luckily, Chiang Kai-shek was able to hold the ground against Japanese. Otherwise, Russia would face Germany and Japan in the Stalingrad battle.

@soviet507 Is Siberia bigger than the Pacific Ocean? if Japan have bombed American's carriers and airplane fuel tanks in 1941, I am sure that the Russian would speak Japanese or Germany today. If it was not the weather(winter), Stalingrad would fall already. The whole city almost has been occupied by the Germans. Germany was defeated by the winter, not Russians.

@Lasstpak The Finns didnt really win either, they killed a shitload of shitty Russian soldiers, but in the end they lost Karelia, nickel-rich Petsamo. Really I think a lot of the Finns success came down to Stalin's purges immediately before the war in the 1930s, he sent a lot of his very best army officers to the Gulags, also the Finns collaboration with Germany helped them, which isnt to be proud of.

Let me ask you few simple questions: Do you drive Japanese made cars or Do have Japanese made cameras,TVs. or any electronics? if you don't have them, do you want to have them? @TaoHe85 Cameras, TVs and other electronics dont win wars. They are basic consumer goods. The world buys them because Asian countries have low labor costs and not because they are more advanced. America's industry outproduced all nations in the world in WW2. Even if the aircraft carriers were hit during Pearl Harbor it would mean nothing since America would replace them in not time. America built 375 ships in 1941. In 1944 they built 1710. Aircraft 375 in 1941, 1710 in 1944.
