  • Many thanks, I now understand the logic behind it. Now all I need is a parts list and wiring diagram. The pump I will be using is a 12v pump. I have a 12v power power adaptor. If its not too much trouble could tell me what parts I need and how I should wire them up. Again any help is much appreciated. Thanks

  • Thanks for your reply, I have Had a look at the diagram but don't understand still, how do you get the pump to stay on until both switches rise? How are they wired to give that result. This is just what I need for a project I'm doing to automate water changes. Thanks again.

  • @haroonshaukat The relay is wired as a latching relay. Best thing to do is to do an internet search for 'latch relay circuit'. There are many examples on the internet that will explain this. There are also YouTube videos about latching relays.

  • Continued from previous... Curious to know how the middle float switch does not turn the pump off when the float rises? Also I really want to make one of my own. Do you have a parts list and circuit diagrams etc. will be willing to pay you for? Thanks in advance

  • @haroonshaukat If the water level is at the max, there is a chance of water ripple causing a float switch to bounce which causes the pump constantly go on and off. So the two left switches work together and both need to be down in order to turn the pump on. And to turn the pump off, both switches need to be up. If you had one switch to turn the pump on & off you have that chance of water bounce. Check out this diagram which is what my design is based on.

  • @TooManyHobbies58 Check out the link at the end on the description for the diagram.

  • Like other viewers of your video, I'm also curious as to how the midd

  • What pump is that?!

  • @Subw00er It's a Tom Aquarium Aqua Lifter AQ-20 Dosing/Siphoning Pump

  • Btw the pump is AC or DC supply??

  • This is exactly what i'm trying to do but i'm stumped!!! I know what i want it to do in my head and its exactly like this but i can't figure out t the wiring!! I'm not really worried about the leds tho i just need one to indicate it stoped working. You know where i can get help on the wiring?

  • Where can I buy this & how much?

  • does a auto top offf need a solenoid valve?

  • btw wats the size of the box?

  • oh tats bad....btw thanks alot...if can i need ur help cos i have a project on it but its hard to do it...

  • do u have the schematic diagram for this?

  • @rashiidefukazumi I did plan on making this into a partial kit, but I lost some of the files on the computer it was on and need to recreate them. So right now, I do not.

  • wow!im so impress of ur work...

btw if i use only 2 of the float switch one is sense the water level n the other is to sense for overflowing can tat be happen as the same as tis?

  • @rashiidefukazumi It can be done with two float switches but you will not have the safety overflow protection. The two leftmost float switches determine the low and high water levels. Lower one activates the pump, upper one stops the pump. The right one is there as a fail safe if the upper float switch fails.

  • What is yournscreen name on reef central I can't find the plans

  • Is this on reefcentral yet? I havent found it.

  • Sorry, not yet. I am involved with another project that I would like to complete first.

  • @SoundsFantastic Not yet. See the response to dirtbike, sorry

  • I dont understand how you wire the first two together. Unless the middle float is special. When the water level is low, the middle float will fall turning on the pump. But why does it stay on when that float is up?

  • Can't explain exactly how they are wired, just both connect in a latch fashion to the relay. There are examples and diagrams on RCentral. Check the DIY section.

  • @TooManyHobbies58 I can't find your plans to make this anywhere on reefcentral. Help??

  • @iaresoy See my reply to dirtbike. I have to redraw some of the plans.

  • @TooManyHobbies58 I can't fine your plans for this anywhere on reef central? help??

  • @dirtbike1232 Sorry but they are still not available. Somehow I lost part of the plans on my computer and need to redraw them again

  • could u u actually have it in a tank and show use how it could fully work?

  • This unit works in the sump, not the tank. It would be difficult to show it working in my sump as the float switches would be hard to see. That's why I have the video this way. The water in the background just shows when the top off pump is running.

  • Nevermind i get it, could you do a diagram? :)

  • did you ever post plans anywhere the system is awesome

  • No completed plans yet, but they are about 50% done, but it's summer and moved on to other projects. Maybe will finish the plans in the fall. I know it will be a hit. This one here has been working great since January, no flaws.

  • whats this for?

  • As water evaporates in the Aquarium, this controls refilling the tank.

  • neat! nice job!

  • Thanks!!!

  • Where can i find a top off system like this?

  • I built this myself. Eventually I will have plans so others can build their own. Its in the works.
