  • Who the hell would be scared by that? This is WAY too fascinating to be any scary.

  • why looking in space for aliens.. people have them in fishtanks!

  • What is that insect next to it? I saw something similar in my tank.

  • LOL aww the end he lost a bubble and froze probably thinking "shit..." i wanted to see him encase the bug though! :/

  • It is in my country and its the most poisonous spider here. I havent seen one yet...

  • @Sutinennn Can't be bad news when the worst spider bite you can get in your area consists of a rash and a short fever.

  • Its common name is the Diving Bell Spider

  • Where'd you find the spider? I'd really like to observe one in one of my extra aquariums

  • @clank1 I have learned that swamp ponds and lakes are the best places.

  • awww, he lost a big bubble near the end after working so hard xD

  • Submarine spider

  • greedy, look it what he went threw to hide his meal. one day they'll find his stash & he wont have any crickets when he comes home.

  • poor little spider took that long to make it just to loose a large chunk o bubble at the end

  • Feel the tension

  • i live in the U.S. Do you know where I can buy one

  • Totally brilliant! A wonderful upload and one that I never tire of watching. Top fella' for sharing this.

  • Never saw such an amazing spider before, this is really awesome...

Ohh dude, i really gotta get a spider as pet.

  • I saw a spider in my fishing tank, so i tried drowning it. Guessing it didnt work :L

  • A Canadian friend has told me that she observed a 'grapefruit sized water spider in her country! Now I'm jealous, as I've never seen one apart from on screen.

  • Superb video!!! I love the wai it 'snatches' som air from the surface to increase the size of it's bubble. Apparently the top of it's nest bell can actually release Co2 but keeps oxygen inside! Amazing animal! I love it. :¬)

  • I dont like spiders ... to me they look dangerous but i know most of them are not. They are beautiful creatures even if i dont like them (they scare the hell out of me) And still a wonder ... amazing little "monsters".

  • i didnt knew that water spiders exist before today (i caught some water animals in a lake) and now im probably never gonna do it again :O

  • This is a really cool spider, but it doesn't breathe under water. It has special hairs on it's abdomen to trap air around it. That's why it looks silvery.

What I found interesting is this spider is perfectly capable of living on land but chooses to live under water.

  • its crazy how creatures have evolved and adapted to to different enviroments. nonetheless spiders living hunting eating breeding adn breathing underwater. very intelligent creatures. this is my favorite spider right next to the one that does cartwheels down desert hills.

awesome video and thank you for posting it.

  • are they like other spiders where you should keep them seperately? I want some soooo bad but have no idea how to get them in the u.s.

  • Spiders only scare people on land ? Well Tough shit, this one decided to grow its own scuba gear and fuck you all over...

  • to be honest, i think we get these in britain, too. i'm going to see if we do. by the way, i see you have a thing about mantids. same here. i have a trapdoor spider i'm settling in.

  • one air bubble escaped...

    oh well, still cool vid

  • where usa, asia, ect

  • @ConstructionMadness It lives primarily in the central, northern regions of Europe and Japan.

  • these r amazing creatures and btw believe it or not they can live their entire life under water, their bubbles can filter the air from the water!

  • No, it has to go to the surface to get fresh air for it's bubble!

  • if you pop there bubble would they drown to death? n how do they have there babys?

  • If you pop that bubble the spider would have to go to the surface to get a new air pocket. Even tho it lives in the water it has to carry that air pocket it when even it decides it needs to move. Thats why usually they are resting on an area as you see in the video. and i believe that the babies are born in water next to the air pocket its mother leaves behind so when they are born they will automatically head towards the bubble or be near enough to it.

  • thats incredible how they are able to bring bubbles of air underwater with them

  • the spider it traps a thin layer of air around its body using the hairs on its abdomen and legs. The spider can replenish the air in its bell by transporting air from the surface. However, frequent replenishment is unnecessary because the structure of the bell permits gas exchange with the surrounding water: oxygen is replenished and carbon dioxide expelled due to differences in osmotic pressure.

  • This species is entirely aquatic. They bring bubbles down in the hair on their abdomen and put it in a little web net underwater, so they have an air source.

  • AWESOME...I've read about these.congrats on another great vid. you always seem to have the Koolest animals around........
