  • Just love North Carolina! Jump Off Rock, Chimney Rock, Big Hungry......wish I was there now.

  • this song got a colbert bump

  • so he came up with dark side of the moon lyric before Pink Floyd did?

  • Colbert Bump!

  • colbert and him sing this and its epic :D

  • Thumbs up if your here cuz u just watched Colbert

  • When my 2 girls were young, and my husband worked 2d shift, I would play James Taylors greatest hit's, and bake homemade bread... it eased my mind.

  • @TheVinylBird i agree but seeing it live would have been amazing

  • Nice, but the 1968 version from his album on Apple Records is the best version

  • @TheVinylBird the Apple stuff was way overproduced- like Phil Spector and strings were trying to strangle James. they failed.

  • Great song, great muscian!

  • 24 people have never been to California in their minds

  • @braves654321

hey... its, carolina... just pointing that out there... *cough IDIOT cough*

  • @braves654321 derrrpa derrrrrrrrp

  • Never been to Carolina, most likely never will, but James takes me there every time I feel like getting away from the madness...

  • Hard to imagine that amazing music like this could be achieved through just one man's talent at vocals and acoustic guitar.

  • i m moroccan and i like this song since1974.i like it.

  • This song is just impossibly beautiful and timeless as a paragon of euphony and lyricism.

  • We miss nc.......Such a perfect song,I see my barn my sunset

  • im so homesick for NC!!! this song is amazing!

  • how can there possibly be 23 dislikes?

  • @coliniorio here is something wrong here... James is the most beautiful, pure soul to ever pick up a guitar and sing.

  • @coliniorio bad recording probably. nice song

  • @coliniorio There is no shortage of fools in this world that's why

  • @coliniorio its because the dislike button is right beside the like button...and mistakes happen

  • @coliniorio make that 24

  • @coliniorio better question: why does every youtube video have some retard making a stupid ass comment about the number of dislikes? People are entitled to their opinions, if they don't like the song deal with it. Don't leave some spam comment about how many dislikes there were. At least you didn't make an asinine pun like most dislike reference comments: "24 have never been to Carolina in their minds"

  • @coliniorio Never mind about that. as long as you like it, that's fine. Coz I like James' songs very much, that matters.

  • @coliniorio Must be deaf.

  • This song always makes me so homesick for Carolina

  • @southernrockdrummer

This song has nothing to do with Carolina - no matter how beautiful NC is - the song is a state of mind. Everyone - anywhere - can miss someone; and this song has defined how I feel about a specific person for a long time.

James takes what he knows, and makes his feeling universal. I thank him for that.

  • James is as hip as his bell bottoms- great song

  • From '72 and he just got better and better, go james :)

  • The first time I heard this song, I was hauling a load from L.A. to greensboro. Truly a great song!

  • @Time4Crash90 Congratulations, I'm from Fetcham

  • ah, this song reminds me of home:) so beautiful

  • go heels!

  • fyi- JT messed up his rt hand in a waterskiing accident with the motor. He was a better picker, he admits it,but ha recovered to still play better than most.he is in his glory here-go JT

  • why does everyone like this version? he's too nasally imo

  • my gosh, when i was 23 i was trying hard to pick my nose correctly...thanks James Taylor !!!

  • Reminds me of sitting on my dad's lap when he played piano when i was like five.

  • its nice to know theres only 20 haters in the world

  • a voice that has always put my spirit in total peace

  • Nice, but i think Joan Baez version is better.

  • @5872steve alison krauss does a good version too.

  • I love this, it expresses my thoughtsy dreams

  • Classic.

  • 19 people are tone death retards. full stop.

  • i sure od wish this guy would sing my songs

  • This is the sweetest song ever! James Taylor is so unique! I just love him:D

  • 19 people don't like hearing a transitional solo version (I mean before his 1975 re-record that became the song we all hear in our heads now...he recorded it first on his Apple Records debut release in 1969 I think with a different arrangement) of an American music classic. Tellwidum.

  • @MRMustangFan87...its amazing how narrow minded you are. This dude was a junkie from "65" on. read his book if you know how.

  • This is my favorite song in the world.....This is what everyone should listen to instead those rappers....Whats his nam lil fagg or something :)

  • Great, just great!

  • Like if your here because you watched Funny People

  • I was working at his concert in Toronto tonight. As he began playing this song, a plane took off directly over top of the stadium... very eerie and fitting for the song I think. Anyways, James did a couple of playful double-takes and the crowd erupted with applause. So cool.

  • this song brings tears to my eyes. so beautiful...

  • Gosh, CD's are a waste of money. I got his hits on CD, and have "Carolina."

However, I never heard this ending-I'd say it's much better than him singing "Goin' to Carolina, I'm gone..." repeatedly.

James, good use of profanity in such a serene song! :)

  • @r1bikecam Great job documenting the artists of my youth!!! I loved being there and appreciate that someone thought to take pictures!

  • @Fyouveryverymuch I was in my early 20's when I shot these pictures. It was just another roll of film to develop in my darkroom as a hobby back then. Had I a clue what I was doing...nope! Thanks for your input.

  • Thank god for people like James Taylor!!!

  • Just a guy and his guitar, yet a timeless tune. That's what I call frickin talent.

  • I love James Taylor's music. This is by far one of my favorites. It reminds me of home - Kernersville, NC. I've lived in Maryland for over 20 years but I can travel back home and to younger more carefree days any time just by listening to this song. I've just started taking finger picking guitar lessons-a lifelong dream. I hope to be able to play this song myself someday.

  • His music was played over the loud speakers at Kenan Stadium before the UNC- Chapel Hill graduation. The ceremony included a wonderful acapella version of this song. A lasting memory.

  • @pinnacle271

I was there. I cried. And sang it for the next 3 hours after the ceremony.

  • @stjimmy3592 I had my 88 yr old mother with me and we were able to sit down on the field level. To look up and see all those graduates in light blue was really something. I'm still singing the song.

  • This song is universal. I'm 17 and I love it. It's not just an old hit that fads with the generation that grew up with it. It's Great.

  • To those 16 people that disliked this.....you obviously dont have a soul and a good taste in music

  • carolina is in the southeastern of USA ,capital city is Raleigh in wake county !..this for ( mizar970 ).

  • Saw him Last night in Houston. He sang this! It was beyond memorable!. Sang for 2 hours straight. Wonderful time! Outdoor concert - beautifull weather. Perfect!

  • @julietade1 lucky bastard

  • Where is your "Carolina"?

  • I think his voice has deepened & mellowed out over the last 40 yrs. Excellent!

  • i could listen to him all day!

  • Remnants of the popularity of folk music b4 the Beatles dominated the music scene. Beats the hell out'a RAP doesn't it?

  • Accept no substitutes, JT is the real thing.

  • those 12 should take a lesson in music..good music

  • yusuf islam aka cat stevens and James Taylor are the best singer song writers in the world.I thought it was only Yusuf but James is just as good-I wish they would produce something together. They can both capture beauty in the palm of their hand.

  • 12 people have no idea who james taylor is

  • @Jrobes123 It's currently 19 people, which is the same number of likes your comment has. All I can hope is that it's been liked by those 19 who have now discovered who JT is.

  • @Jrobes123 ...and counting

  • I'm 13(don't start stalking me or whatever) and I just found out about James Taylor and Cat Stevens and I'm in love!!!
