As a former Mormon, I can tell you that Mormon's don't hate homosexuals/lesbians. They just thinks it is of the devil. Though I am not gay, I left the Church partly because of the ignorance of it's members. Though I'm not for gay marriage, I don't think it should be something the government should decide.
This is ridiculous and so ironic to expect by having a few people stand outside picketing you are somehow going to convince the church of Jesus Christ to change its beliefs simply because they believe in traditional marriage. I also find it ironic that those for same-sex marriage are so tolerant except when it comes to those who don't agree with them.
"all religion aside, lets look at homosexuality scientifically"
Why do that when you can create your own pseudo-science?
" If two men ... why would we all have correspondent procreation organs?"
Why are homophobes so concerned what gay people do in bed? So in this loons view, all sex has to be for procreation only. Well, lots of straight couples would have a problem with that.
all religion aside, lets look at homosexuality scientifically, If two men or two women were meant to be together and have real intercourse, why would we all have correspondent procreation organs? Doesn't take an idiot to know that when you break it down even to its most simplistic ways; homosexuality isn't NATURAL
Protest is nothing the LDS Church warned about are members that this is just a protest against this religion, it is not bad as Scientology, The LDS Church is illegally a Church constitutional rights and Jr Joseph Smith is are founder 1805 - 1833.
Absolutely sickening, you know the LDS church can do whatever they want to just like you do with all your retarded protesting. What they are doing is not illegal by any means, they are just expressing their opinion like any church can. It wasn't Adam and Steve buddy. And I got news for you, nearly every state in the union doesn't allow same sex marriage. Just like how is should be. Don't expect them to take your side when you do protests like this.
Trust me, there are gay people everywhere. California is more open minded to people, and we show care and respect to others even though they may be different then us. It's not like living in Utah for example. It's ok, I'd be mad too if I didn't live in California.
You show care and respect to others even though they may be diffrent?? Are you kidding me?? Did you watch the videos of the gays out side the Mormon temple?? Yeah thats sure is care and respect. Oh or is that you will show respect unless people are going against you?
Oh yeah, care and respect, but once we're attacked it's game on. It's not just the "gays" outside the temple but all the other people who support them as well.
Yes, a bankrupt government, teachers that can't be paid, pollution, gang wars, schools closing down and a govener that is a better actor than leader (and that of course ain't saying much!!!).
As a Christian it amazes me how many people are deluded into thinking flaming "lust" is love! And when does lust ever become perversion? Or is that word obsolete in our society if we put the love label on it? I hear "love" being abused even further in the name of a righteous God of the Bible to condone carnal lust by saying "God is Love, God is Love, you f*#n bigots!". Well God is also "righteousness", "pure unadulterated Love", & "Justice" in the light of wrong!! But you'll never hear that!!
Our Heavenly farther loves all his children, sinners and saints and because of his great love for us sometimes he sets rules and puts laws in place for our protection. A good parent would take a sharp knife from a young child`s hand.
For all the protesters out there I have a little advice for you. If ever you find yourself in a heated debate with a member of the church of Jesus Christ and you can sense anger on their part then tell them 'contention is of the devil' and that will (if they understand their own teachings) stop them in their tracks.
just to clear this up, the lds church is not the only ones against gay marriage. most religions are in sync on this issue. just because the lds church took a stand by voicing their opinions like these people are doing in their protest doesn't mean they are the cause for the proposition to pass. the people voted and the people chose. sorry it didn't work out but everyone has the right to vote. and everyone has the right to voice their opinion no matter what. whether it's "right" or not.
Gay people are asking for nothing more than to be treated as equals under the law. This has nothing to do with you, or your families, or children, or religion. You don't care much for gay people, fine. They're not asking you to throw a toast for their marriage.
Good churches focus on ALL families! I am a straight, Christian woman who believes that the health code of a 3,000 year old desert tribe does not apply to modern day life. What does apply? God is love, so be it. Celebrate Him in the marraige of all those who love each other!
I am a Mormon and am Gay! I don't hate my church nor she we hate those who oppose us but I thank the makers of this video and those who marched in support of Gay Rights. The mormon church should not involve themselves in the democratic process but let it's own church members decide for themselves. Keep up the fight and good on ya!
First, Salt Lake City has quite a sizable gay population that has hitherto been largely silent in politics. Apparently, the church expected their apathy to continue.
Second, religion affects all aspects of American democracy - this is undeniable. Prop 8 was hashed together from impulses driven by religion. This is the reason for their statement.
Choosing what one does in a bedroom is just that... a choice...not a civil right. Marriage is not a right, but one step towards building a family. It is a covenant a man and a woman make before GOD. OOPS...I said it!!!Where are the PC Thought Police. Are you folks also protesting Black Churches? After all, African Americans, a TRUE minority, voted 70% for Prop 8. You know the media would turn on you real quick if you played that card.
So, apparently straight couples who cannot bear children or choose not to have children cannot get married. Also, why don't you examine the US constitution? If "marriage" is so fucking sacrosanct and is a religious institution then the government cannot be involved - "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion". Apparently marriage should be illegal for all - the government can only issue civil unions! Fuck your lobbyist churches and your religious Fascism!
Ooooo...hit a nerve. Didn't say anything about kids...sorry. This isn't about Government, Schmuck...The people of California spoke at the ballot box and you can't deal with that. If you want to change people's minds, having a tantrum will not work. Try to pursuade the folks of California with logic and reason. If you want to see true Fascism, look at what political correctness is doing all around us. PC is why you target your hate at only selected people who were for Prop 8.
Do you have the intellectual capacity to review your own comments - "marriage is not a right, but one step towards building a family"? So you invoke families? Family has nothing to do with children, huh?
"Try to pursuade(sic) the folks of California with logic and reason" - really? Since appeals to some invisible bigot in the sky and promoting fallacies and casuistry is logical and reasonable? You can make no claim to a monopoly of morality or ethical conduct.
Families can have no children and still be a family. They can choose to adopt, or not. The fundamental block is still a husband and a wife. I like Elton John's opinion...keep gay unions under the name of civil union. I totally agree with this, and think folks who choose this route have identical protections under the law. JUST DON"T CALL IT MARRIAGE!!
How is the fundamental block a man and wife? So a single mom with her children doesn't constitute a family?
Don't call it marriage, huh? So, we can tell African Americans they got the whole thing wrong, right? What's wrong with the back of the bus, it still got you where you needed to go, right? Separate drinking fountains - you still got water, didn't you?
SEPARATE BUT EQUAL IS NOT EQUAL!
Marriage is a right, not a heterosexual privilege.
WOW, i love it... If you don't believe in gay Marrieage " Don't marry the same sex"...Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out... It's Crazy to me how a church would get involved in a civil right, the leaders should be Ashamed of themselves!!! REMEMBER THE GOLDEN RULE.
15 minutes of hate...kool-aid drinkers...you are not persuading anyone. You are only showing yourselves to be intolerant, ignorant, racist, hateful, mean-spirited, heterophobic, sad, miserable. Take a cold shower!!
Tying to merge church and state is against the constitution--you have no right to force your f*d beliefs on others. What next? Force people of Utah to only marry underage girls? You are the ones who are screwed up--the great pearl, my butt. Yu know it was total bull b/c heiroglyphics can now be read, yet you insist you are a religion and not just a bunch of conned suckers of a cult.
My friend left your church in Utah b/c you screwed up evil enemies of the state kept forgiving her father each time he molested her and raped her--with the excuse that he "wasn't in a state of grace" at the time of each freakin offense. THAT is why the Mormons are threatened by gay marriage--girls and women are meant to used for sick, slavelike sexual servitude to men--ain't that right, northshore? Y'all harbor criminals, and encourage it.
lol all the lds protestors were on one side of the street and all the good guys (the equility protestes)looked out number until the light turned green the the majority of the crowd crossed over to the = rights protestors
the mormon church has no business, sticking their nose in someone's elses, "judge not" "let he without sin cast the first stone." How many mormon bishops molest their ward members?
How many Catholic priests have molested children? Wasn't there a story in the new recently about a LDS Sunday school teacher inappropriately touching his 8 yr old students?
I know that my statement is broad and ridiculous. I was just making a point. Blugularis asked the question "How many Mormon bishops molest their ward members?" Which was even more broad and ridiculous.
More, more, more. Here in LA the protests have been large and quite the experience. It is nice to see other states joining in, especially Utah. It must be difficult to live there and be gay. I don't envy you at all, but more power to you. Please keep up the great work, you have support in LA.
