What confuses people most... is because Mateus itself doesn't has an real face, the girl on her front is a completely different being and lacks any direct connection with mateus real body, unlike the relationship of Zalera and the unamed woman, however... you can still observe mateus real arms holding the trident, and his merman based tail, not to be confused with the godess legs, which seems to be covered by the by his armor like skin.

Actually I think I know now. Belias was considered a mistake; he was man and beast even though his sign didn't have two different beings in it. So when Mateus and Zalera (2 fish, 2 people respectively) came up, they didn't mind. Of course, that theory is cheesed if the zodiac signs came after; which is probably how it goes :)

You know what I just noticed? Seeing the images on a site, I now realise this Mateus is a mix in design of the
