Please Raymond T, if you ever get a chance, one of my favorite Monkees songs is Goin` Down, a solo vocal by Mickey Dolens, really hot hard rockin` jazz recording. It was the flip of Daydream Believer. It would be cool if you did a video of that one.
I have this on 45 also. Sadly, by the time this came out, The Monkees were shells of themselves. Head didn't do that well at the box office and the series had been canceled. I'm glad MTV brought them back in 1986.
That is one rare and pricey 45 RPM record you have playing there - not to mention superb Monkees track that is in a longer, complete version vs. what is on the 'Head' soundtrack album. Big thumbs up to you!
I used to hit all of the record conventions back in the late '80s, and Monkees rarities was one of my main addictions... and you have the ORIGINAL 45, *WITH* THE ORIGINAL SLEEVE, in mint condition!!!! I may have to hate you.
But, y'know what's weird is, there's a song on "Permanent Vacation" where Perry & Tyler used baleen whales & sperm whales as b.g. fx and, I swear, they ripped it off of this song!
this is totally a song of the time back in 68 and what really baffles my mind even more is that classic rock stations never ever give this track or any other tracks off head a spin instead they keep feeding guns n roses into our already rosed filled mouths ( im not hating on gnr but come on how many times can you listen to welcome to the jungle a day i hear that now more than i did in 87) head had the most eclectic monkee rockers ever recorded
this and Randy Scouse Git are my two favourite Monkees songs... awesome... love hearing it on vinyl as well!!! i miss the crackles at the beginnings of records... cds are too clean sometimes :D thank you :D
@RabidRhonda I'm surprised myself!! The funny thing...it was meant for one person that sent me a super cool psych cd! Was saying thank U...and this thang has just started a life of its own! Hahaha!! So glad people are digging it. Such a AWESOME record!!
the music on head is stellar i remember when they reissued the original albums and tapes back in the 80s i had gotten a copy of head on cassette and it blew my mine but unfortunatly what i thought was would of been a progressive direction from this point on i was totally shocked on the releases following head
OMG!! (squeals with delight) I had no idea that the Porpoise Song B-side was As We Go Along. A Carole King double-header of delight!! Much envy of you having this on vinyl
I've got a guy locally but he takes months and months to fix a player. Very frustrating. He has another RCA 45 player of mine since Jan.!! I would love to learn myself. I pass on so many players that just need caps. I'm going to teach myself one of these days. It can't be that hard.
this is so coll!! loved it, great!!

Janelle Monae has a song on here new album that borrows a bit from this track.
Mushrooms and Roses.

This song strangely reminds me of Sigur Ros's 'Flugufreisarinn' from the 'Agaetis Byrjun' release. Put them side by side and you'll see what I mean.

Don't worry about getting in trouble for copywright violation-- The Monkees never got in trouble for copying the Beatles.

Hands down, the Monkees' masterpiece. Just as Gothic, haunting, and beautiful as ever. And the movie Head rocks too!

U should see the movie! Wow is it bizarre. The album is a little difficult to locate as is this 45. I really like it. The organ is SUPER groovey!
