  • Great tutorial! I've been looking for this for years and it's difficult doing that on a standard tuning. Did you just said G# instead of F# at 00:17? I've added the bass chords on your riffs and it's great! I've watched Christopher's live acoustic 2008 version of this, lol :D

  • @sgtryan777 I've noticed you've added a notice balloon at 00:17 lol. Great tutorial! I'm currently practicing it.

  • appreciate the kind post....it is a difficult in standard so i just watched him and when i saw it was an altered tuning...ah!! All the best with your music....dale.

  • THANK YOU VERY MUCH !! I ALMOST WENT CRAZY LOOKING OTHER COVERS ,I COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT OF WHY THE HELL DIDN'T SOUND THE SAME ..ONLY YOU MAKE IT CLEAR TO ME ABOUT THE "TUNING THE GUITAR DIFFERENT AS IT SHOULD BE" I don't like to change the tuning so no sailing songs in my guitar ...cheers and thanks again

  • thanks for your kind post....all the best with your music!

  • ditto what herbie said lol

  • Great! Thanks for posting!

  • thanks for giving your time to check it out - all the best with your music!!

  • Great tutorial. I learned this song 30 years ago almost the same way you are playing it. I was playing along note for note then you showed me the lost section I forgot, the 9-4-11 sequence. Thank You. I remembered the bar sequence but you added that one simple note and I love that sound. I have an addition for you to try because I found it missing in yours. In the 5th & 6th bar add the bottom E and B at the same time, and in the 7th & 8th bar do the same but with the A-B. Let the Bass ring.

  • thanks for your kind words and taking your time to share your insights about this great tune! I will be trying them out.....keep rockin!

    dale

  • Hey tone doc...your tutorials are awesome man...they have all taught me a bunch and your approach to teaching these tunes on utube is really so basic...however so professional in a lot of ways...I've been playing over 20 years so I play prettyy fluently ...so learning from you takes no time and is pretty exact....thank you so much...

  • hey we go back to the vintage brother! All digital these days isn't it....something cool about the album cover and notes that i still kind of miss. Thanks for watching and i hope you and your gang as a great season and New year!

    dale

  • Thanks for the post Dale. This is one of the prettiest songs of the 1970's - it just flows like water. Personally, I would like to see you post a complete video of you playing a song and then post the tutorial seperately just so you can watch the whole sequence unfold and then then go into the tutorial. Just a suggestion but i realize it is more work for you. Anyway, I enjoyed it as always!

  • i agree - the song is just haunting in a way! I did record a performance video - i haven't uploaded it yet, but thanks to your feedback i will - it's a bit boring i thought because it's just the guitar track as i would imagine playing it in the studio....without a couple of bad strokes i made! It will be up later today - thanks for watching and your kind suggestion,

    dale

  • yep, very cool song. I tried to learn this many times in the past and could never get anywhere with it. Now I see why.... I didn't have a strat. ;)

    Great lesson! Thanks Dale.

    cheers!

    -Jack

  • the strat is the thing! It isn't to late to ask Santa!!!

  • AWESOME!!! THANK YOU!!!

  • thanks for checking it out - all the best with your music!

    dale

  • Good tutorial. Many thanks!

Could be improved by providing the chord diagrams. The camera angle can make it hard to see the fingerings.

  • thanks for watching!
