First of all he was abandoned by his parents and spent his first 3 years in a hospital before being adopted.

ignorant people are common in Italy.. Beacuse they are usually conservative people who never wanted to be mixed up with.. Sadly, we have that issue even in our own household.. in fairness to them, not all can be considered racists.. but it is a common thing.. though they would deny to death that they are.. considering that it is the center of Catholicism..

To be honest, I completely understand why Balotelli is so defensive. I am of Italian and Kenyan heritage and was raised in Rome.Even though it is not the case with all Italians, I have to admit that a lot of Italians are racist. I have been called the N word countless times, sometimes even in class and the teachers didn't even care. Being black or mixed race and growing up in Italy (especially in the North of Italy, where Marios is from) is tough therefore you HAVE to man-up and create a front.

@liverpoollevski Many fans do not insult him for the color of skin but because he still behaves like an immature guy. Here in Spain, Cristiano Ronaldo is insulted in almost all stadiums and he is not black. There are also other italian black players who don´t have that problem.
