  • One of the saddest songs I know.

  • Not to bring a bible war on or anything.

  • @WankerPatty Are you one of Jehovah's Witnesses?

  • I am a 100% Non-believing Atheist. And I love Thrice.

  • I don't believe in Christianity. I believe in Jesus. It is a totally different thing.

  • @HomerationVP I just wanna know how people can believe in jesus and sit back and let wars go on, If you believe in jesus why dont you follow in his footsteps and actually fix earth, or are you waiting for 1 more Resurrection to make things right? If its all just some story wrotten by man, We have wasted time reading a book as the earth gets ruined.

  • @xOD1Nx well, I believe it's a saint's job to do that.I believe because I think some good coincidences were not possible to be all luck (yes, I prayed, and that's not like me).I have dreams for the future, all concerning me,I dont think I am a good guy, just good enough.best theory i ever heard on God is that he put us in this F**cked up world to show us how we would react to all this cr*p,and why he sends us to heaven or hell,i dunno what is true, but my prayers were answered to an extent

  • @HomerationVP What's the bible say? The last days will have Earthquakes like never before. What just happened in Japan, and all around the world? There will be food shortages, Whats happening in Africa? Man will fight against man...Mhm. Men will be lovers of themselves. Man can't fix anything, and hell doesn't exist. Heaven is for spirit creatures, and your soul...well, that's you, no super paranormal thing no one can grasp. God has a name - Jehovah, and he will fix this mess.

  • @WankerPatty well, :) I don't know what exists or not, I just pick the bast hope for afterlife to be paradise and I personally believe in a god, I'm just picking what I find realistic to a satisfying point, or the best hope for what we have no data at all. can't say I actually believe in more than the mere existence of a god that helps me once in a while, and hope for a paradise, beyond that, I don't care. :)

  • @WankerPatty Are you one of Jehovah's Witnesses?

  • @xOD1Nx I don't agree or disagree...except with your comment....How can you pick out and blame a single christian for not stopping all of this planets wars and problems? Do you not think that there are hundreds of tens of thousands of people who try every day to fix this planet? Can I ask what you have done? Or are YOU just waiting for the planet to crumble and end? I am not a christian, but I hardly blame them for not saving the world, it's no less their problem than anyone else's.

  • @Stopdropburn right on!

  • @tarabethia137 It's sad that youtube went from being a video website to a petty playground for kids and adults alike to surf around looking to start arguments and point fingers at everyone else for any number of things that have absolutely nothing to do with the videos or music. So sad, this is the culmination of our society...people hiding behind screens remotely picking fights with fellow humans....pathetic.

  • @Stopdropburn agreed on so many levels

  • @Stopdropburn lol well said sir. sad but true

  • Apostle Paul wrote this! HAHA! Praise God!

  • Do we need to bring the bible into this?

  • @Jakeiskwl I personally don't think so. Being a fan of Thrice and their music and being a Christian (or any other religion for that matter), in my opinion, don't go hand-in-hand.

  • @Jakeiskwl Can you take the bible out of it? .. not to try to sound all smart or anything, but he's quoting it... so taking it out would be the task. Religious people have given Jesus a terrible name, Dustin is into following Jesus and being real about it, not following a religion. Look into the difference between following Christ and following christianity as we know it today. You will be amazed I promise! It's so worth it...

  • @ToxicSheep You're right, following Jesus Christ is MUCH more than just following a religion. Christianity is just a religion, but following and loving Jesus Christ is a whole lot more important.

    (But I'm both. A Christian and a Christ-follower.)

  • THIS IS AMAZING.

  • YEP 1 CORINTHIANS 13!!!! if you read the Bible you would know!!!!!! I love it!!!

  • I just stumbled upon this song, and decided to give it a listen. I am probably Thrice's newest fan! This music moves my spirit in a non-religious way. In a oneness with the universe, kind of way. Looking forward to checking out every single one of their records! I'm hooked!

  • one word... Best

  • this song completes me.

  • There are several songs that are just flat out amazing no matter what you listen to, this being one of them, and it just dumbfounds me when I see people dislike it. Its almost like disliking life.

  • brilliantly simple and beautiful...

  • such a great song. i cant get enough of it. <3

  • I AGREE THIS SONG HAS MOVED MOUNTAINS WHEN I LISTEN MY INSIDES TWIST LIKE A FIRST KISS

  • the chord progressions are so simple, but make you think how did they come up with that?

  • @ruufeeooh fyi, there is no chord progressions. it's fingerpicked. and it is nowhere near simply

  • @blazemerica well, regardless of how its played, the root chord is aminor, he adds whatever notes he likes to those chords, but that is how they progress.

  • @ruufeeooh regardless, the songs just straight up amazing. the whole continuos album is just amazing as it is.

  • @blazemerica There's still chord progressions. He's not just plucking random strings and putting his fingers on random frets.

  • @blazemerica Wow. Music theory, bro. Study it.

  • Dustin kensrue is a STRONG christian - just listen to his solo song called " I BELIEVE " and u will see he believes in Jesus Christ !!! Some lyrics are :

Touched the holes in your calloused hands,

stuck my fingers in your side.

oh I was six-feet-deep in doubt but

now I'm sure that you're alive

I have tasted now I see

oh I see that you are good.

And I have ate your perfect body,

and I have drank your blessed blood

    God Bless

  • All other things shall fade away. Into the ground, into the grave.:)

  • 117 people don't know the first thing about love.

    2 people suck at life.

  • Thrice seems to always to get me singing along, and making me feel better.Thrice thank you, you guys will never know your influence on us as listeners! Thank U!!!

  • Fuck the church. Believe in God.

  • @christopher2step

Forgive me please, but I find your coarse language in the first sentence and the statement in your second sentence to be contradicting. Do you believe in God, or are you attempting to be condescending?

  • @jordanm123195

My friend, you are correct in saying that the so called "religious" groups are corrupt. I have researched this subject quite a bit, and that is why I do not follow religion. I follow God, plain and simple because I understand that organized religion divides, which is the opposite of God's intent. The Bible is there to show us what commandments to live by and to help us to understand the nature of God. Yes, there are many translations, however, there is an original....

  • @jordanm123195

....Greek text from which it was translated. The most literal translation of that original text seems to be the New King James Version. Have you ever read the Bible? And if so, what was your relationship with God when you did?

  • Comment removed

  • these guys are great they have completley changed my perspective on music

  • @victoria1993vb amen!

  • Pretty much an immaculate song, so much for Thrice! Maybe check out our cover of it... See what you think? Just check out channel :) x

  • i can imagine whatever i want. but i can not realize the vital thing - love.

don't you think that this song is about that and not the religion? aren't all of their songs are just about life and not the bible? the fact that bible is about life too doesn't cange a thing.

  • @Redmagneticserpent

no, honestly most of their songs are objectively from the bible.

8 out of the 11 songs on vheissu are directly from the bible.

  • @Redmagneticserpent check out 1 Corinthians 13. This song comes directly out of that chapter. It's really cool, you should read it! :-) Oh, and Thrice is awesome!

  • what a song :)

  • no one missed the like button. I defy you to show me another youtube video with 84+ likes/0 dislikes. There's a reason. Incredible song.

  • Beautiful song, There seems to be alot of talk about how this song is "directly from the bible" or "this is a religious song". I would like to think people are conscious enough to think critically and skeptically about what message you are recieving in a song (or anything for that matter) and how it relates various media, people, ect... I haven't heard from him personally, but I doubt Dustin would want to restrain the beauty of the song by confining its meaning to the words of a book

  • @ThanksIKnowImlucky

Actually, this song is literally quoted from the Bible....1 Corinthians 13:1-3 specifically. Dustin quotes the Bible often in his music. Other examples are "Of Dust of Nations" - Matthew 6:20, "Come all you Weary" - Matthew 11:28, "Hold Fast Hope" - Matthew 26:46, "Like Moths to Flame" - Matthew 26:34-35, "The Messenger" - Isaiah 6:8. I really could keep going, but the point is that Dustin is a very Godly man, and it is very clear in his music.

    God Bless you!

  • @downtoawhisper Sorry after re-reading my own post my I noticed it was a bit misleading. I was trying to say that while I know these are quotes from the bible, It doesnt necessarily mean that he wants it to be viewed as a religious song, more than a song about love and understanding. I guess that I may be viewing it differently because I'm not religious, but "some" verses of the bible I hold very dear, and respect the message put forth. ^.^ thanks a bunch Bless you too.

  • @ThanksIKnowImlucky

I hope you don't mind me asking, but why are you not religious?

  • @downtoawhisper That is a diffucult question to answer, I'll start by saying I don't morally accept or agree with the actions and history of the church. I also believe in universal oneness, Its hard to explain but I feel that God is a part of me, and all things are a part of God. So that in just loving myself and others I am loving God. No need to pray for a being outside of myself, I pray that I will have the strength to do whats right. hope thats an answer, much love

  • @ThanksIKnowImlucky

Well it makes sense that you don't morally agree with the actions of the church, as the actions of the church have not always been representative of God's nature. Keep in mind that just because a group of people claim to be Christians, doesn't mean that they are Christians. The advice I would like to give to you would be to find out what God wants from you and keep His commandments. Don't get lost in what others have done wrong, just focus on what you need to do to.....

  • @ThanksIKnowImlucky

....glorify God. And you are on the right path when you say that by loving others, you are loving God. The two greatest commandments that God gives us are to "Love the Lord your God with all your mind, heart, and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself." If you do these two things, the rest of the commandments will fall right in to place. And as far as praying goes....as Christians, we should strive to have a true relationship with God. That means talking to Him.

  • @ThanksIKnowImlucky

....Think about it like this... if you didn't speak to your friends for months at a time...or possibly years, wouldn't you feel that you didn't know each other as well as you would if you kept in contact? It is very important for us to pray, but we must be sure that we are keeping the commandments so that we can be heard loud and clear when we speak to our Heavenly Father.

    I hope this helps!

    God Bless you!

  • @downtoawhisper thankyou for your kind words. You seem very kind and sincere and I wish only the best for you. I believe in God plain and simple.. Life has thrown me down so many winding roads and bottomless pits, that I am perhaps too critical of everyone and everything, I look upon things with an over-judgemental state of mind, not because I want to, rather because It is the only way to prevent unwanted manipulation or misdirected support. Which sadly to say is all too common...

  • @ThanksIKnowImlucky

It sounds like you have been through a lot. I would love to hear more about your story if you don't mind sharing. You can send me a message if you like.

  • all this talk about christianity and thrice. for goodness sake, give it a rest. just sit back, enjoy the genius that is thrice.

  • anyone know tht one song tht starts like this.."doo dada, and ive said too much, ya it always seems like i do."

  • @OakRaiders44 Something that usually works for me just go on google and search; and ive said too much, ya it always seems like i do+Lyrics - Exactly like that, should yield results!

  • Songs like this make me want to learn guitar.

So i can sing/play this song at a bonfire or something.

    haha

  • Many of Thrice's songs have references to bible verses etc, this doesn't necessarily mean that that are a Christian band though. I am a Christian but i don't listen to them for the fact that people say they are "Christian" I listen to them for the music. so stop fighting over it and just enjoy :)

  • Ugh, I'm not trying to sound mean but I hate when religious people stumble across great music by amazing people like Thrice and just HAVE to make some annoying comment saying "they're a christian band" or "This song is religious because....." it totaly just ruins it , can't people just listen to a song anymore?

    :(

but anywho, What an amazing song

and I personaly don't care if its religious or if it isnt :)!

    *****

    <3

  • wow really guys why dont you stop wating your time argueing weather thrice are a christian band are not just click the link listen to the song enjoy it and shut up about it

  • the fuck.

if you don't believe in god, don't be spreading hate about it too. because some other people that don't belive in god think the kind of fags that get offended by reading this are fucking douches, as in you're ignorant bitches who hear shit that never came from the bible and can't do some fucking research to proove it.

    i believe in god though.

  • You may believe in God, but your vocabulary doesn't.

  • @ahighnoonduo

i don't think you can find one christian that has never sinned/done wrong. yeah anger is one of the seven deadly sins, and along with that haughty eyes. so even if you aren't christian you should still not be so hypocratical about it.

  • Purposely sinning without any restraint is absolutely un-Christian.

  • Read James 2.

    Faith without works is dead.

  • Actually...they aren't a Christian band...this was written for his family and his son and how mistakes are human....nice try tho religious dude

  • No one said they were a Christian band, you fucking moron.

    Christian allusions != Christian band

Read a fucking book for Christ's sake.

  • They have many songs with biblical reference. Listen to 'Come All You Weary"

  • Listen to firebreather, open your mind, and see that he finds religion as something not so good when you take it as a whole my friend ;)

  • in what way? in my mind that song is about our freedoms in speech, thought, and expression ("word thought or deed") being suppressed (by gallows, etc.), and whether the response is defiance or "folding our hands and hold out tongues". I don't see it as pro or anti religion, but you could argue plenty of martyrs of the Christian faith could relate to the song.

  • Yea right and what does this tell you :

Or let the flames lick at my feet

Or breathe in fire and know I'm free

Flames will rise and devour me

Oh, to breathe in fire and know I'm free

    Know I'm free!

Embrace what you fear most, and you'll be free, the easiest way is believing some mystical force is taking care of us all, we are more alone than you think, and you'll be free only after accepting your fate...

  • @LeonardoDaJuicy A little bit more is about whether or not one'll stick to their guns in the face of death, and also that the narrator would sooner die a free man that have his words, thoughts, and deeds dictated by another.

Why are we talking about Firebreather on Moving Mountains, anyway?

  • Read 1. Corinthians 13 dude.

  • Basicly word for word from the Bible...

  • @Keleo123 hey man I don't know if anyone's corrected you yet, but this song is pretty much straight from the Bible.

look up 1 Corinthians 13 on Google and you'll see where he got the words from. not trying to be annoying, but I'd say about half of their songs are Christian-based

  • Damn it, it is not about religion..listen to the damn lyrics :)), are you guys so blinded or are you all so called christians happy to think a great band is singing things that you are finally allowed to listen to? YOU ARE WEAK PEOPLE ( so am I...)

  • my pastor read the bible verses these lyrics came from today.

  • no dude im not weak minded but my brother has met them and he talked to them over a few drinks and he asked if they were like a christian band cause he thought the same thing as you but they just said that they're not although some of their songs share the same ideas of christianity.. although almost everything in the world could probably interpreted religiously by stupid over the top message seeking dicks like ur self .. dude seriously just chill.. listen to the music.. and relax ur soul

  • I really don't think this song is religious in any form guys. lol.

  • well maybe think that one over again and read the lyrics lol

  • let the religous crazies get their rocks off, it makes them feel better.

    dope song btw

  • @vtg

I'm 100% atheist, and I think this song has obvious spiritual influence.

So... Am I getting my rocks off or what?

  • 1 Corinthians 13: 1-3

everyone else, stop giving your opinion and use your mind to look up the facts... this song is straight from a passage of the Bible, just as many of Dustin's lyrics are.

  • @SilverSalvia uhhhh read a bible passage kiddo....preferable 1 corinthians

  • hurr if a song mentions jesus it kant be good cuz im a hardocre atheist lolol

  • This song is extremely religious, in respect to the idea that, even with mystical study, with enlightenment, advancement, and all understanding, the Mystic Power of Love is incomprehensible to man...we are subject to it, and will never truly understand it.

  • no ur just fucking weird this song isnt religious

  • That makes sense. There are a lot of bands that have a general knowledge of Christianity and faith that makes its way into their music. That shouldn't get them labeled one way or another. The quality of the music is important and though they may be informed from a particular faith tradition each person brings their own history to the music - which is one of the things that makes music so great. It's nice to have an intelligent conversation on a message board. enjoy the music!

  • @lolkylewtf

What religious propaganda are you bothered by? Have posted religious propaganda? It seems like they are just commenting on the songs connection to 1 Cor. 13.

  • there are times when I feel I'm being a pretty strong Christian

then I hear this song and realize I could never write a song purely inspired by a Biblical passage

dang you Dustin...make me feel bad

  • I think this song got a lot of its lyrics from this part in the bibe, Corinthians 13, i just thought it was kinda kewl! :)

  • absolutely and amazing song

  • This song got me through so many hard times. I just love everything about it.

Here's to Thrice, doing their own thing, and being an amazing band since 1998. No matter what they do, I have full faith in it being good.

  • amen to that hahaha

  • i love this song. 1 Corinthians 13 is one of my favorite passages

  • very, very good... learning it now...

  • awesome song. how have i never commented this video??

  • this song is great!

1 Corinthians 13:1-12 for the win!

  • :D :D

  • really fkn awesome!

  • me encanta. =)

  • I argue with angels and I always win too. hmmm... great song.

  • wow. great song

  • i love the guitar riff lol

  • Sweet, so sweet...

  • 1 Corinthians 13

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

  • sorry i really liked it so i had 2

    and i love thrice

  • i dig it

  • Woot Woot

  • amen

  • i firmly believe this is one of the best songs of the last decade

  • this song sounds like its based on 1st corinthians 13 or that's what i thought but maybe i'm wrong. Great song.

  • If I speak in the tongue of men and of angels, but have not love I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge and if I have a faith that can move mountains but have not love I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames but have not love I gain nothing.... and so on and so forth =]

  • In other words, yes, this is based off of the passage 1st Corinthians 13.

  • first to comment. Yayyyy. oooh, btw. this song is amazing. I believe this new album is actually an inprovement to their old stuff, although i still love it as well.
