  • Whats with this black and white shit? Whats wrong, your camera cant record in color?

  • To all the crackheads out there: This is what you are turning the country into. When we become as lawless as ugly as our neighbor to the south, our blood will be on your hands. Stop before its too late.

  • I dont think they should rebuild this area at all. If those idiots that live in this area are the ones responsible for the way this neighborhood looks and torching houses like the scum of the earth that they are, then they should be forced to live in the nasty mess that created. Why rebuild it if those waste of life idiots are just going to burn it down and ruin the neighborhood again.

  • this reminds me of the movie langoliers by Steven king.

  • At 2:35 is someone actually thinking people are going to buy their house

  • @evildeaddrew That house at 2:35 has since been torched. You can see it at 1:45 in the more recent excellent Rolling Down Robinwood video.

  • Nigs Burning down the Hood !

  • why ppl there burn and destroy all the abandoned houses....

  • @verik2kk Because this area of detroit is filled with low lives scum of the city who only care about them selves. they set abandoned houses on fire, not even caring about the houses that are occupied around it. And they wonder why nothing is being done to fix it when theyre just destroying it even more.

  • @TheWaynelds idiots

  • damn no color?

  • that sucks that your camera doesnt have color

  • Most of the folks originally living in those homes proudly worked in unionized auto factory jobs.

The big 3 car makers left town, tore down factories to put them up in Louisiana, Kentucky, Canada and Mexico, where ever people would work cheapest to raise profits the most.

The decline in union jobs mirrors teh decline in our cities like Detroit.

    Support Unions now!

    Before it's too late.

  • Most of these houses were built in 1922-1924. With care they lasted so long, and now this.

I knew a man who lived in Detroit as a boy in the 1950s. He said it was a beautiful, bustling city in those days.

  • The right side of the steet looks the same.

  • Who ever took a video of this missed most of the right side of the street where my home was.

  • listen........short and sweet o.k... i still go there daily and the people are dealing with it as you would

  • I cannot imagine being one of the small amount of people that still inhabit homes on this street, it must be frightening.

  • @convict13 i watch them for a fucking living and they are not frightened a bit ...they are the people/black... that are the scum that made it......in detroit

  • What's funny is that, in the long run, the arson attacks could be beneficial to the urban farming plan. As the burned wood lays on the ground it releases Nitrogen, which serves to enrich the soil.

  • wow, Detroit is starting to look like suburban Phoenix!

  • I worked in detroit for 3 years. I can assure you the scum that infests the city limits is about as bad as these neighborhoods look. Left 10/27/10 and I vowed that I would never step foot in michigan again. God willing I will take that promise to the grave.

  • sad thing is all these houses still havent been knocked down

  • That is my old home @ 2:29. I lived at 609 Robinwood from 2000 to 2008. This was a gorgeous neighborhood up until 2005. That is when all of the fires started. I truly believe it was a conspiracy by the banks and insurance companies to clear out an area in Detroit. I lost everything from kid pictures to high school yearbook. Things that can't be replaced.

  • @amirelshabazz9674 how did all these fires start? i saw another video about this street and almost every house is burned down. what the hell happend?

  • I've seen this drunk, high and sober... Same result....great video !! The music and visuals capture all the livingness that WAS !!! All gone now !!! WOW .. Awesome!

  • The house at 4:18 was in good shape in a vid taken a year prior: Detroit: For real.

  • This video is fascinating, the music creates an eerie feeling and the visuals are stunning. Imagine this area in the fifties and sixties, all the life that happened here. No unemployment, great jobs everywhere....and now this. Wow!!!

  • I've driven through some blighted parts of Dallas & Houston, but haven't seen anything this bad. Yet. Got to feel for y'all in Motown!

  • Looking for the house I lived in in the sixties. 440 West Robinwood. Think it's a vacant lot. Someone told me Nolan Jr. High is closed too. So many good memories from living there then. So sad...

  • No city is more fucked up than Detroit. The Downtown can be saved but the neighborhoods are far too gone for any chance of saving.

  • I ws just drving through that street on mothers day. its worsein person

  • Detroit has never been the same after the 1960's however the severity of Detroit's decline has increase over the last decade dramatically.

  • Believe it or not this, this area has deteriorated much more since this video was made. Many of the houses have been set afire. This is one of the many areas in the city that Mayor Bing has target for demolition as part of his plan to tear down 10,000 vacant buildings. So W. Robinwood St. will soon be urban prairie.

  • I grew up in one of these houses 40 years ago. Too bad. Tear them down and let the grasses and trees fill the space. This is just too depressing to leave as is.

  • Marabel's house at 0:41 ... A woman to be remembered, God bless her soul. Thanks for the amazing video, very effective. google street view of robbinwood is astonishing. Depressing. Thanks again.

  • When these homes were built you could leave your house unlocked at night.

    Then the blacks moved in.

  • Cpmimg soon to your neighborhood. Isn't diversity great?

  • just googled it. you kiddin me dude? every house though? i can guarantee you no other american city looks like this. i know some compare, but not this bad!!

  • I think i would perfer to see in color in the spring to see the beauty of these houses being reclaimed by nature.

  • Those houses look like they were decent and livable just 4-5 years ago.

Scary how fast decline sets in when the decent folk move out.

Thats why you have to stay in tune with the environment. My parents moved out of detroit in the 70's because they saw the neighborhood changing for the worse.

And they didn't wait untill it looked like this although it did in time.

  • This is what happens when a piece of shit gang takes over and opens up dope houses.Thats what really happened to Robinwood Street.

  • Great video

Buffalo east side is the same

  • It should also be noted that homes on streets just one block parallel are just fine, such as those on GoldenGate St. It's amazing that one small stretch of Detroit has become what it is today.

  • "One small stretch"? 98% of the city is a shithole and Hollywood Street(1 block north)is fucked up as well.Granted, its not as bad as Robinwood but its no walk in the park either. The city is a joke and will NEVER return back to its glorious days before Colman Young destroyed it.

  • It would be remissible on my part not to inform you that this particular block of Robinwood Street was a predominately a Chaldean-American community when it's decline began.

    Phrog313

  • @phrog313 ....and uh that matters why? reasons why racists suck ass

  • @phrog313 What exactly are you insinuating ... that the Chaldean/Iraqi community were the ones responsible for the decline?

They just did what any other people concerned for the safety of their families and their children would have done ... run for their lives and never look back.

  • @phrog313

I would also like to inform you that I'm Chaldean-American and Ive lived on that block for 25 years from 1979 to 2005. I do pass by there once a year to see my old home. I have pictures and have great memories going to Greenfield Union on 7 mile and Charleston. You can Google 512 w Robinwood on Google Maps.

  • Hiroshima after the atomic bomb? No, its just what happens when Negroes take over a once thriving American powerhouse of a city. Disgraceful.

  • My block looks like this too on 6mile and Gratiot.

  • where did this beat come from??

  • I think if someone had the money to re-build the neighbourhood, they might make a pretty penny. The structure of the homes actually look ok (well most of them), its just putting some of the final touches on them (windows, paint, etc).

Wouldn't surprise me if the area does get re-done...not now but in a few years.

  • Your not from Detroit are you? That street is gone forever just like the rest of the city.

  • aas8, I drove down that street the other day just to see it. Many of the homes are completely burned, many are structurally falling apart, and from what I've read, many do not have plumbing. The copper was worth enough to be pillaged.

  • Comment removed

  • great vid man, i thought that the west end of louisville was in bad shape but has nothing on this, it sounds funny but you guys should tear all this down and plant corn, what else can you do?

  • ill do anythin 2 bring back 7mile and robinwood baby my house was 680 w.robinwood and my cousins house was 512 man those were the days it pisses me off 2 see it like that

  • Its a shame to what has happened on Robinwood St. I used to live there for about 20 years and recently moved from there in 2005. I still have photos of how it used to be. For those who did not know this was home to many Chaldeans.

  • great video!

  • And black people wonder why people don't want then to move in next to them.

  • This was a Chaldean Neighborhood blacks never lived in that area you uninformed racist asswipe!!!!!!!

  • @Tdahoodfella LOL sure bro.

Its south of 7 mile, east of woodward. That ain't no chaldean neighborhood you numbnuts.

  • @Tdahoodfella It was chaldean until the niggers moved in and set up dope houses and ran everyone out.Your the asswipe you piece of shit.

  • @RONVK Since your White Devil Pale cave dwellin ass want to talk so much shit about what blacks destroy blah, blah, blah come film my neighborhood that all black over in green acres livernois/ w outer drive its all black middle class and its beautiful and its ten times better than the coleset tralior trash suburbs of ferndale and hazel park!!

  • @Tdahoodfella Sorry,I live in Milford now but you still live in a fuckin' shithole,NIGGER!

  • lol...i always love to see a run down shitty looking house with garbage in the front yard.....& then on the roof they have a nice directv dish......

  • You sure do love to judge people, don't you mstep3?

  • This video would be complete if you got some mugshots and names of the local thugs who set the houses on fire and robbed the owners. But that wouldn't be "politically correct", now would it?

The street is a graveyard, without graves.

  • What?

  • I just when down this street 2 days ago and it was like being in the f**kin Twilight Zone.I grew up in Detroit in the 70's - 90's and not much shocks me anymore but this is haunting. The city is so worried about downtown and dont give a shit about the communities. Its sad!

  • That is great footage. It would be good if you could pick several houses and take pics of their decline over the next couple of years.

  • decline over the next couple of years?

lol.....how much more declined do you think they can get?.....

  • Until the wood becomes like dirt and grows mushrooms. Small green leaf plants will grow over the decaying boards until they become particle with the soil. Today's decay becomes the ground where future generations excavate.

Time lapse footage is unreal. It would be awesome if someone captured it. It would make a fantastic doco.

  • Camera would last about 4 hrs.

  • I mean like take a shot every couple of months of the same building over a few years. It was just a thought. Sorry that it upset people.

  • 4hrs? More like 4 seconds.LOL
