While the desert eagle beats every gun (other than shotguns) in the game for very, very close range combat, personally I find that the magnum works well at close and mid-ranges.

But we all have different opinions, however mine just tips towards the light of the magnum! :O

ahh yes, but if you have a tactical knife on the deagle the sight is perfectly centred and it has sooo much less recoil and it has 7 shots and it rox my sox

yes the tac knife does make the deagle better but it still not as good as, say, the magnum or any other pistol

Don't aim down the sights, just get closer to your target and spray like it's a shotgun, works well for me, even at medium range.

Bayoneter, actually,its just as good in mw2,you just cant shoot as fast with it,they made it more realistic with the recoil so, if you slow your shots down, it will kill in 2 shots, sometimes 3,but its still good

@Bayoneter so right. the desy eagle in cod4 had recoil, but was controllable, best handgun in the game. in mw2, its totally useless. u shoot it once then must wait for it to come down just to shoot again. totally uncontrollable. dont no why people struggle when the 44 mag has almost no recoil and the same power.
