  • WRONG WRONG WRONG.

  • Who the hell are you people saying this isn't what she should be doing; her doctor? It's increasing her mobility, it's keeping her active, how could this possibly be a negative thing? The weight she is using is not enough to cause injury through her form, because yes that is something that comes with time and is obviously something she'll struggle with with her condition.

  • This video is a classic example of what an expensive joke Crossfit has become.

  • wow am not sure what say but i think she did awesome keep up. u rock

  • The fuck is this!?

    Is this real!?

  • This is not CrossFit.

  • @savslush

That is what Crossfit looks like when practiced by about 95% of the people doing it.

so yes, this is the real crossfit. Don't you start about people that actually lifted weights before, ofcourse they're going to do it right. They had REAL training.

Crossfit is about as bad for you as running on flat shoes on a paved street.

    while landing on your heel

  • @R1colientje So you're saying because 95% of people do it wrong, that makes it 'real crossfit'?

I've been doing CrossFit for about 6 months now, and at my gym the one thing that we're taught above everything else is correct form. I've had no previous weightlifting experience, and I came into it as a complete beginner, but I can now do some of the more difficult/technical lifts because I've got good form.

Also, please don't pull random statistics from the air without citing sources.

  • @savslush

Do cardio, follow a real lifting program.

Some of the lifts in crossfit are inefficient and unnecessarily technical for beginners.

Why take a chance of hurting yourself by gambling on crossfit while there are exercise routines that are far more effective.

Crossfit is a nice addition to a real weightlifting program. No more, no less.

  • @R1colientje You're forgetting that people choose to do CrossFit. I was given an hour introduction session where I was told what I was getting myself into, including the risks of damage, and I chose to do it.

Judging all of the CrossFit community based on a couple of bad YouTube videos is highly uninformed. The trainer in this video is actually quite shocking. My trainer is actually really good.

All exercises in CrossFit are scalable. If you take a stupid risk you can only blame yourself.

  • This is wholly irresponsible and extremely dangerous. This trainer should be ashamed to even consider making her do a C&J

  • the best part is crossfit fags actually think that their athletes, HA!

  • Who the fuck ''likes'' this shit?

  • "Its not this regimented program that you have to do things a certain way..." You mean the right way? She seems to have some knee joint issue at least that affects her lifting, if left unchecked at higher weights it looks like she might hurt herself.

  • This is the most irresponsible fucking thing I've ever seen in my life. IDWTLOTPA.

  • Let me tell you my story: Crossfit, not even once.

  • The people in charge should be fucking sued!

  • more like.......... CROSS RETARDED

  • why doesn't she just go to a physical therapist. you know, people actually trained to help people like her

  • shes a fucking seal arf arf arf arf

  • Injuring retards by pushing them to do heavy exercises, isn't normal.

    But at CrossFit, it is.

  • This is unbelievable. There's a fine line between pushing somebody and setting them up for injury. Her trainers should be ashamed.

  • don't worry its rubber bumpers, 5 or 10 lbs. maybe. so she's only lifting at most 65 lbs. Not enough weight to injure herself bad.

  • Jesus H Christ...God bless her soul! Everyone else in this video can go fuck off!!!

  • @NoHomoXFit God bless her vertebrae, because they ain't long for the world with that sort of form. if you're Olympic lifting with that kind of form, she's going to stay in the fucking hospital.

  • @NoHomoXFit

Why? Because they know she has a dumbass trainer that's teaching her how to injure herself?

It's great that she wants to try something new, but this just isn't what she should be doing.

  • this crossfit trainer must have just got fired from delivering pizzas

  • I disliked before I saw it

  • If you can't walk without a cane, I don't think Oly lifting is for you.

  • Fucking hell this is terrible. You have to understand that with her condition she's just not going to be able to do some things. There are physical limits to what she can achieve that can't be overcome with will power. For example no matter how hard someone wants to fly, they're not going to be able to do it.

This is dangerous and probably the last thing she needs! If she throws an elbow out or her back then she's going to be in an even worse situation than she is now. She need a P therapist.

  • DUFUGGIDYFUCK FUUUUCK!

  • At first I thought she flailed her arms around on the burpees because of her condition.

    Then I saw 5:15

This is how they do burpees?

    Good god.

  • this isn't cross fit this is euthanasia

  • if you continue to let this girl train with such horrible form, you will paralyze her.

  • you are crippling the crippled. how is this even legal?

  • FUCKING BITCH AT THE BEGINNING! WTF ? MAKE A DISABLED GIRL THINK THAT SHE'S IMPROVING HER HEALTH BY OVERSTRESSING HER SPINE! FUCKING ASSHOLE CROSSFIT MONKEYS. IF I'LL SEE SOMEONE TEACHING CROSSFIT (even if it's a woman) I'LL RIP OFF THAT PERSON'S HEAD!

  • HOW IRRESPONSIBLE IS THIS? SERIOUSLY, PEOPLE SHOULD SUE THE FUCK OUT OF YOU FOR TEACHING THEM HOW TO RUIN THEIR SPINES AND KNEES. YOU'RE PLAYING WITH PEOPLES HEALTH!

  • I almost cried when your legs kept going in. 0:50

  • WTF am i watching?!?

  • great effort! anndd Amy Ferro you are gorgeous

  • Know what if a girl can't do something she likes in this shit life we all live because there's a chance she'll get hurt, man just fuck it all

  • I will be the first to admit that what she is doing is very inspiring, but at the same time there is to much added risk involved with her condition ESPECIALLY with olympic lifts. I have had torn my meniscus during a crossfit workout performing turkish get ups for time. Unfortunately what she is doing will end up in some sort of injury as well, it's not a question of if, it's a question of when. I am not saying she should stop, just stop doing technically advanced movements.

  • that horrible form and they didn't even bother to spot her? she's gonan bust her kneecaps

  • ohhh my god wtf is wrong with you crossfit people

  • The blind leading the blind.

  • @yardape99 Women leading women.*

  • @calimaninaz oh lordy, i lol'd

  • This girl needs physical therapy. CP isn't a progressive disease but there's no sense in having someone with it performing exercises in a manner that can harm them. She could easily end up a lot worse than where she is now. Shame on you crossfit, your exercise protocols are awful for even well conditioned adults let alone people born with debilitating neurological pathologies.

  • -Crosshit: a lame way to waste nice chicks !

  • garbage.

  • Even the technique on the burpees is horrible. I won't even comment on the clean and jerk.

    > partially blind

I'm 50% blind and lifting effects me not. Bull-fucking-shit.

  • Wow, that's just terrible.

  • It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt... and she sure looks like she's going to get hurt probably sooner rather than later.

  • I am an avid crossfitter, and seeing this I really don't think that her form is awful, per say, but I do definitely think that her weight should be lowered and have her work on mechanics so she can do the movements more concretely. I don't believe that anyone should be turned away from crossfit. I think this girl is truly an inspiration to everyone, crossfitter or non-crossfitter. She just needs some more work that's all. For 6 months I think shes great

On another note, Amy is fucking gorgeous.

  • @yourfuturewarhero I love how you state that you do crossfit yourself, and then go on to say that her form, which is clearly wrong and damaging, is all right.

That really does say something about you guys.

  • @RedundantComments I didn't say it was alright, I said that her form isn't awful. Given the fact that she was born with cerebral palsy of course she's never going to be able to get the movements perfect. Just because of her condition. Now, maybe I should re-phrase what I meant; given the fact that she'll never be able to do a full squat with her legs underneath her hips and hips back, or she won't be able to do a full lock out with anything, I believe that as a beginner with a condition as....

  • @RedundantComments severe as the one she has, she isn't doing to bad. Many people on here are saying things along the lines like "she shouldn't be working out", I don't believe anyone should be turned away from wanting a life of fitness no matter what the case. I do believe, however, (as stated in my original comment) that the weight should be lowered. She should also take her time with workouts like that. Of course her form is gonna be wrong, she has cerebral palsy for christ sake.

  • If you wanna see some Crossfit olympic lift action where the form is spot on search "Revival Strongman"

  • @bambarby Haha, nice.

  • I have been a trainer for 10 years. I specialize in corrective exercise and pre/post rehab. THIS IS THE MOST APPALLING OFFENSIVE AND IGNORANT THING I HAVE EVER SEEN SOMEONE IN THE FITNESS INDUSTRY DO.

  • @xilinica

why is that? people wtih disabilities cand and should exercise as well....crossfit is gay imo and an easy way to get injured... but good on her to do what she wants to do.

  • @hash1212121212 You just answered you're own question. Crossfit epitomizes incorrect training technique. They teach HEALTHY individuals to exercise with dangerous form, but to go and subject someone who obviously doesnt have complete motor control, or even a self awareness..is WRONG. These people don't even know what they don't know. If they did that'd be something but they don't.

  • Even with her handicap she has the same form as everyone else ive seen doing crossfit, including trainers.

    Thats saying alot about crossfit.

  • @413x4nd3r2k6

I doubt the trainers you see are reputable trainers. I'm Specialized in Corrective exercise with a double degree in exercise science and health promotion and i've been training for the past 7 years. She should not be doing such exercises at all. These exercises are primarily for those of a more advanced level who've achieved the proper form and technique. She needs to regress down to basic functional movements to get her body aligned properly.

  • @Enomojo

    Good point!

  • >Have disorder that affects nerves

    >Do weightlifting

    >ISHYGDDT

  • This is just dangerous.

  • Well she is the most coordinated person with cerebal paulsy I've ever seen so good on her

  • >Marissa... has cerebral palsy and a visual impairment that left her partially blind

Not to mention an idiot of a trainer that has coached her in ATROCIOUS form. Cerebral palsy will be the least of her worries.

  • Wow, props to this girl for attempting to train but please. This girl is going to injure herself doing these exercises. This is not right

  • good job,the hell with everybody negative comments as long as marissa happy, thats what counts and as you can see she is very happy each time she shattered her old time.and thats what cross fit is all about.and as for the trainer she right next to her every time motivated and helping her to the fullest and making sure you dont get injury....great story, thats whats up!!!!!you go marissa.;)

  • @coxdiesel1

shame on the trainers for letting her lift weights with that kind of form, and shame on you for saying something as ludicrous as "as long as she's happy - that's what counts." she sure won't be happy when she snaps herself in two! sacrificing form just to beat a time is NOT what a fitness program should be about. it should be about getting stronger SAFELY. i'm all for this woman exercising to be happy, but not like this.

  • It's still a great effort

  • if something bad happens that girl for doing crossfit, crossfit southie will be accused of negligence and that trainer will go to jail

  • 3:00....wtf?

Is that supposed to be a clean and jerk or something?! That's horrifying form and a trainwreck waiting to happen. It's so bad I could barely recognize the lift.

  • How dare those people, don't they know she could get hurt, shes disabled for christs sake. I mean I m surprised they even let her out of the house, with the way she walks she could fall and take a tumble, I dont think people grasp how dangerous it is to be walking with that form! I hope they dont let her have a job or go to school or ride in a car or airplane, she could get hurt at any moment doing that. You condescending bunch of judgemental jerks! How dare you.

  • @arcbc30 Are you really comparing walking or sitting in a car to something as technical as an olympic lift?

  • This is all good, but seriously she probably should only be doing slow controlled movements.

  • This isn't training, this is aerobics with a bar. Just as aerobics was a fad throughout the 70's and 80's but was soon dropped because, well, its shockingly bad in terms of results, crossfit will soon fade.

Now on topic, this girl is an inspiration, regardless of how bad her form is. Seriously, there are people with cerebral palsy that sit on their coach and just become planets, at least she tries and is reasonably fit.

  • dem burpes

  • its all good, but the form....my god.... and this is coming form someone with cerebral palsy

  • Wow seriously!? Crossfit is definitely a good workout, but that girl is not made for crossfit. She's going to hurt herself one day

  • crossfit...

  • dem burpés

  • I think people can't grasp the idea of how dangerous it is to lift heavy weights with that form. That girl could injure herself badly in any moment.

She can't do proper weightlifting in her condition because she can't do the excercises with proper form, also she can't put excessive stress in her joints.

I find it cool that she feels awesome doing excercise -everyone does-, but I'm completely against doing weight lifting in her case, even more if it's Crossfit.

This video made me cringe hard.

  • @UnIosingRanger

    ^^^^

    I agree with this 100%!!

She should not be doing these kind of workouts when her technique is as poor as it is.

ACSM guidelines are there for a reason!!

  • @Starscream744 STFU, quit being a pansy! It's people like you that give her the mental strength to knock out these kinds of workouts out!

  • @pchancey007

This is the kind of attitude that will get this girl hurt! If I am a "Pansy" for caring about clients and wanting to ensure their health and well being then "Pot my ass up and water me daily!"

  • @UnIosingRanger

that doesn't look like a heavy weight its probably like 40 pounds.

  • @UnIosingRanger agreed with your comment about lifts and the danger to her joints etc. But i think the fact that she has a new lease on life outways the potential of injury. Cant help but smile when you see how stoked she is!

  • @UnIosingRanger What do you consider heavy weights? That is at the most 40 pounds she's lifting - aluminum bar and 2 10lb weights.

  • @UnIosingRanger

I agree with you dude, she could do herself a serious injury. that said- Fair play to her for putting in the effort i wish more people had her attitude but in my opinion she is far better off just sticking to body weight work as i feel that would be safer.

    Peace

  • Its all fun and games until that girl blows a joint out

  • This is sad. This poor girl is going to get hurt.

  • This is not motivational in the sense that everyone can do everything because someone who will never get the form right in such compound moves should NEVER attempt them. Especially something so technical like clean&jerk.

It's amazing how she is so determined but for God's sake - do something like swimming or biking and do it good, instead of doing an improper compound and slipping disks or fucking the spine up completely.

  • Marissa is my hero!!! Thanks for the inspiration!!

  • Wonderful story! Marissa Lelogeais is a hero!!

  • Just when you think you cant do something, she lets us know that you can do anything as long as you're willing to it. She proves there no boundaries, heart can overcome limitation and can achieve greatness. I'm inspired!

  • Are the plates supposed to be so loose on the bar?

  • You may have just made a grown man tear up. You both are an inspiration!

  • some people in this world are just on a different level of living. Both these girls are living on the highest level. Amazing :)

  • this is what it's all about you guys! encouraging each other and all inclusiveness! great story of inspiration and determination!

  • Taking my first cross fit class tomorrow. This is inspirational. I love her enthusiasm. Cheers to both of you.

  • this is why i love crossfit how many trainers do you honestly think would have given this girl a chance the crossfit community is amazing and surprises me more and more everyday made respect to you mrs ferro your dedication to the crossfit community is the reason its growing daily

  • she is doing this, and there are people are twice as able as her but are too lazy to get off there ass when if she had there ability her life would be completly different , pretty sickening to be honest.

  • Great Inspiration! I am so psyched out about joining crossfit.

  • This is Awsome.. Great Respect..

  • this is why I am a trainer. we all start somewhere and most of us have it easier then others but her story shows that there are no excuses for taking care of yourself while having fun doing it. great job as a trainer and great job as an athlete

  • This is what crossfit is about!

  • Way to go Marissa! You go girl! Amy keep up the awesome work!

  • Comment removed

  • she loves it, thats all that matters. The last scene of the video explains it all.

  • awesome!

  • i saw a lot of jerkin but not a whole lot of cleaning

  • Holy shit...good job Marissa! That is freaking amazing that you are doing what you do.

  • Amy is hot.

  • Brilliant! Well done both of you!

  • Marissa, You inspire me to be a better person hun. Good work and way to get after it. I hope to visit your box and meet you some day!!

  • Did any of you think... just for second... that she may love doing this? Or are you all too selfish to think that?

    Greetings from Slovenija.

  • outstanding

  • Does anyone really think its safe for a partially blind girl with cerebral palsy mixing and rushing clean n jerks with burpees is a good idea?

  • @eastnygoon138 LOL, as a trainer I would perhaps seek alternate exercises depending of coarse on her goals :)

  • @ichater Dont get me wrong. I think it's awesome that she's using a barbell but mixing it all up at such a high pace... not such a good idea

  • to be honest im divided on it. I mean yes for someone like her a more specialized program is something I'd go for instead of CFs stupid 'one program for all' mantra HOWEVER segregating someone from a group (like crossfit) because their disabled is something I'm against. So I say all power to Marissa, good on her for not letting her disability beat her and if she's happy doing what she's doing then my problems with CF can take a break

  • Awesome Marissa! You are an inspiration to all!

  • So inspiring, and she nailed that workout. Way to go Marissa!!

  • Marissa is an amazing girl to overcome what she has. Her trainer has a big heart too. What a great team!

  • awsome way to go :)

  • AWESOME! So inspiring! Way to go Marissa!!!!!!!!!!

  • fuck yea crossfit. this is inspiring

  • That was amazing - Way to go Marissa!!! And, Amy you have a gift & HEART... what an inspiration!!!

  • That was awesome Marissa you are inspirational!!!! keep the Vids coming HQ!...

  • Awesome Marissa!!

  • Amazing!

It would be nice to have a "guide" on how to train disabled people. A lot of disabled people don't get to exercise for other than their rehabilitation and and that will essentially given them extra "disabilities". And we can all agree that they dont need life to be harder on them!

  • @NissenandNissen I agree. When I was personal training I had a client that was disabled, having an easily accessible PROVEN guide would have saved me tons of time and probably helped us achieve greater results faster.

  • Way to go girl! Marissa you're amazing!!

  • All I can say is, you go Marissa!!
