I wanted too hear this so badly for the regimental march of the highlanders on Napoleon Total War! For the sake of putting a bad piper in for the regiment it would have made the game more addictive overall, fifes for the highlanders?pfffffff
I love the bagpipes, how they fill me with energy. Nothing expresses lament or the surge of pride that the pipes can inspire. Whether you have Scottish blood or not they are a powerful instrument. Long live the pipes in their many forms from Scotland all the way to Turkey !
No Yanks/Canucks here please, you are Americans, not Scottish.
To be Scottish you must be born and bred native to Scotland with at least one Scottish parent, if you were born and bred in Scotland to non-Scottish parents, then you would be a Scottish-national.
Can't doubt the Scotsman's courage. This island and indeed the world would be different without it but still. to friend these pipes are as amazing as irn bru, and to the foe more terrible than rab c nesbitt! Can anyone tell me though if any scottish regiments fought near the Middlesex on the somme? Because my great grandfather fought there and swore til his dying day he heard bagpipes.
My late wife was of Highland ancestry; Clan Campbell of Argylle and the Royal Clan Stuart. I, on the other hand, am a mongrel of Irish and German ancestry.
Guess which one loved the pipes and which one hated them! She couldn't, as she put it, "stand the bloody things" and I've always loved them.
I'm Polish, been to Scotland only once in my life, but I'm a native speaker in English, point is, I gotta say, even as a foreigner this tune makes me WANT to be a Scottsman!!!! I'd day marching to this any day!!!
I have shed blood for country and flag in three countries, to my fallen brothers may the earth cradle you softly and may your memory be eternal, as for me may the pipes play long and loud till i find my way back home!
Newfoundlander reporting in. We may have been celebrated for our ferocity and courage in battle but the Grenadier and the Scottish Regiment had the mest marching music. From the Rock, to the Highlands, and down to london beyond, fight hard and proud. For freedom and glory brothers!
For the people who talk smack about this song. This is the music they play before they dismember you,ya english bastards if anybody blows around here,it must be you, from your ancestors the english that brought, homosexuality to the Americas
@KMW52 You're that kind of person which answers to a post from seven months ago, to give yourself a good feeling. Good luck finding a life, and if you can't, put a loaded gun in your mouth and pull the trigger.
This way, you will help the world more than you ever could dream.
@ViccardXViccc Typical reply from a loving liberal! You people are very good at teaching how others should act. Too bad you never follow your own advice.
@grenadier185 I'm responding to your comments about bagpipes on YouTube. I'm an American, but I have always loved to hear them. When I was a little boy, my uncle had a large collection of bagpipe records. I would sit with him & listen for hours. I had the good fortune when in college to live next to a woman in our apartment building who played the bagpipes. Probably most people were annoyed, but my wife & I loved it! My uncle died many years ago, but I'm thankful to him for showing me the pipes.
@rahulpower Grenadiers are an infantry regiment, so front line line soldiers who have done many tours in Iraq and Afhgan. The regiment's going out again to afghanistan next march/april! You also do cerimonial duty, ie standing for hours outside the palaces sweating/freezing your balls off bored shitless and ENDLESS hours of drill!
had to laf at ur email it must be wee thing cause im only 5ft by the way try the scottish folk duo the corries on youtube some good battle songs ans ballads inc rabbie burns ae fond kiss ,a mans a man
Plus, you're trying to make me look like an idiot by pointing out all my spelling mistakes, when you say you can kill every terrorist in the land. Thats a very American statement, no-one in Scotland would say that. Being incredibly naive is more stupid than making a few grammaticle errors.
No, but you made lots of claims about being Scottish descended, when you're only just. I have some Irish descent and I never talk about that. But I think I'm getting too worked up about it. Still, a word of warning from the future - Don't use speeling corrections in arguments. It won't get you anywhere.
Look, to cut this short, I'm sick of all the American tourists coming to Scotland and going on about their distant heritage. You probably are of Scottish descent, and i'm sorry I denied that. But I wasn't exactly arguing with you, I was just saying that correcting peoples spelling isn't a good way of trying to get something across.
as a scotsman living in the far north it makes the hais on the back of my neck rise and a feeling of pride im not sure if this is drummed into us from generation to generation i only it does it to me and i live here
@hagridhorse: I'm not a scot and I still get the same feeling while listening to this. It surely isn't drummed into you, it's just the power of the pipes and drums and you have every right to be proud of this kind of heritage!
