I have to play this on monday and its literally nowhere up to that speed at all. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
This is great to listen to! I started grade 8 flute not long ago and it's nice to know how it's meant to sound. Now I can use this as something to aim for in my practices!
Hey Sixto, I enjoyed all of your recordings, well done. I've tried learning the waltz (five stars on your performance!), but measures 51-68 and 151-164 are difficult, any suggestions? Besides playing it slowly with a metronome over and over and over? ::sigh::
@sbpetersonOR Thank you! Sure- just keep your body very relaxed. In fast technical passages. Stay "light as a feather" and don't move too much in general.
@Sixmonte Relaxed... ah yes, that's the key, but difficult to master. I have a recording (of me) of the Antique Suite Prelude up on my page. I almost like how I played it (aren't we all our worst critics?). I don't have much formal training, one teacher helped me tremendously. Thanks for the suggestions... and I'm with KatesMastersSister on the curling up in a ball. I'm going to work on the Waltz again this summer. Slowly and relaxed. :-)
I so know what you mean! I played this for the first time with the piano today and was all over the place! and with a week until my exam.... SLIGHTLY freakin out lol... all the best for your exam!
WOW I'm trying and failing to play this piece right now. For some reason, I'm having a problem with my top F# cracking in the fast bits... anyone have any advice? :D
AWESOME!! love this piece!1 started playing it this morning and I am playing it in a school concert on Wednesday evening!! wish me luck. I have done the rest of the suite but never this one! wish me luck!!!
LOvely!! thank you for posting it. I am hoping to play the suite antique with my daughter-in-law................who knows......one day............ Meanwhile, you have been an inspiration, domo arigato, Moriko xx
Hi, I would love to know what Rutter makes of your interpretation. I thought it was fantastic and "begeistered".I have a collection of many different interpretations of pieces of music. Some awful some brilliant, at least Rutter is still alive and kicking and able to comment upon your most excellent version of his composition. Does he play the flute? Go on.. contact him, he might be totally stunned....all the best, mORIKO
AND finding it hard

I've taken to curling up in a ball and rocking in a dark room. It strikes the fear of god into my heart, seriously.
Loved this though. Makes me want to get it right :D

push from your stomach, like where you laugh, on the high bits and try not to tighten your lips too much :)

use the middle finger on your right hand instead...sometimes improves quality of the note
