I do not think all Gandhi's deserve to be called fakes. Granted Indira Gandhi made a mistake by declaring emergency. And she accepted it later as well. However calling every member of Gandhi family "fakes" is prejudiced.

Fascinating. We had a lot of gutsy people then. And to think nothing happened to the Emergency perpetrators. Some like VC Shukla and Bansi Lal were even co-opted by the BJP. Naveen Chwla was of course rewarded with the CEC post by Sonia Gandhi for his Emergency services.

In India, we need more and more men like him because corruption is tending to become a way of life for many occupying high public positions.

Thanks Prasanna, for this piece. I had just then left Bangalore Bhoruka Steel, under "last-in-First-out" HR Policy due to recession (in 1975-76). I was hard-core freedom seeker in those times also :). Subramaniam Swamy became a hero for millions like me at that time. Yes, I very well remember his saying in the startled parliament "on a point of order .... so, I walk out".

What a feat.
