RIP Ken Matz. I had No idea that Ken Matz worked for WITI, KGO, and WMAR prior to comming to Philly. Look at KGO 40 th anniversary part 7 8 or 9. Ken Spent some time in the Bay Area.
Julius, shut the fuck up and disappear you worthless troll. You have been poisoning message boards for years with your stupid bullshit. Give it the fuck up already.
Julius you were not alive in 1993. Go away you annoying, allegedly "retarded" troll. HulkieD will post whatever he wants to...I'm sure he will not give in to your demands. Idiot.
Corrected: Hulkied, Could you post video of the entire newscast in parts. I would really like to see it since I was unable to watch the post-game coverage in 93 because I had to go to sleep and go to school the next morning.
The anchors wearing Phillies caps, Jane Robelot is dressed in a red blazer, and there's a bottle of champagne (or perhaps sparkling fruit juice) with two champagne flutes at the anchor desk? Are you kidding me??
Philly is a sports town so ALL the local newscasts get like this when one of the teams makes a playoff run - most notably if the station is carrying the playoffs or if they carry team programming. Fox 29 turned all of its set lighting red when the Phillies won the whole thing this year. KYW moved its entire 6 and 11pm newscasts to Jacksonville when the Eagles made it there in 04.
Judging by the way everyone acted on set, I'm also fairly sure that was champagne.
That's what I lke about Philadelphia No Matter if they Love there Phillies (And Hopefully the PHiladelphia Union in 2010) in the SUmmer, There Eagles in the Fall, and there Flyers and 76ers in the WInter
I agree. Whose side would WCAU-TV be on when Phillies ticket prices are raised to pad owners' profits and players' salaries? Would WCAU cover the Phillies objectively whenever the team demands public subsidies to support stadium improvements? Whose side would WCAU take if the Phillies decided to "pull a Baltimore Colts" and threaten to leave town unless the public pays ransom money? We need more reason and less emotion and passion in public discourse, esp. in politics and in the media.

You wouldn't happen to have footage of Herb Clarke doing the weather would you? As memory serves, and keep in mind I was all of 9 at the time, Herb kept his hat on during the forecast and well...it looked like part of his head got keyed out.

WCAU should have remained a CBS affiliate, that way I could've called it CBS 10 and not call it Channel 10 anymore.

Macduck92 2 years ago
Ah yes...and how did the Phillies' "Dream Season" end in '93?
"Touch 'em all, Joe...you'll never hit a bigger one than this!!"

@sofaspud5710 YEA JAYS!!
But... in fairness to the Phillies, they got another shot 15 years after this... and won it all against Tampa Bay.

This was about 5 days after Monica Hart left her newscasting position on KIRO in Seattle.

I did check that segment. Herb did keep the hat on, and yes, it did look like his face was randomly disappearing throughout the weather segment.
Yes, I'm encoding it.
