I live in the Detroit metro area and remember this accident. The driver was a real ahole. A loser. A redneck. He was trying to get to his girlfriends house and also get to work, which he was again late. I believe in Darwinism. He had to die to rid society of the weak and stupid. We didn't need him to pass his genes to repeat another generation of idiots. Its unfortunate thou that he took four others with him.

@DigitalLonestarX4600 The engineer probably didn't see the car; it was screened by trees until the last second, and by the left windshield pillar and console right up to impact. The camera, mounted almost centrally right up against the windshield, had a better view as the loco and car reached the crossing. The train was accelerating at the time, and continued to do so for three or four seconds before the brakes came on. The engineer was evidently surprised and shaken by the collision.
This is what the mother of 14 year old Jessica Sadler who was killed in the car had to say: Her mother, Tammy Sadler, said she had been mad at Jessica for spending the night at a friend's house without permission but she had talked to her daughter just an hour before the crash. Jessica had told her that she and her friends were stopping for something to eat and then she would be home. WHOOPS!!!

The vehicle driver disobeys the law by driving on a suspended license, speeding( upwards of 70 mph) going around a lowered RR crossing gate, disobeying the flashing signals, right? @anthonykorsen007 What you are seeing is not glass, but the ballast flying up over the cab from the car running off of the crossing and onto the ROW and ballast. When ballast hits your motor like that, it sounds like a machine gun being fired as it hits the windshield.
More pictures from this wreck were shown in yesterday's Detroit Free Press. One picture taken from a train video shows glass fragments after the train struck the car. Another picture showed the car after the train was stopped. The car was crushed.

I live in the Northeast so most passenger trains at grade crossings are moving at high speed across the crossing(upwards of 75-80mph) and it takes like 20 seconds out of your life to sit there and weight for them to go by no big deal.
