i do wing chun, im 11 and hava had months of training im grading soon and going for yellow 1
in my class i train with men three times my age,
it is hard but i have a friend in my same year which makes going for wing chun much easier for me.
the master of my class is called jason and he teaches people very very well i am a part of kamon wing chun and i thing kevin chan is nearly undefeatable, he is amazing.
Haha! So you're Jason Gowan's student! Jason is good. I don't know whether Master Chan is undefeatable, but he is an extremely good fighter - one of the best I have ever seen
@KungFuKing166 yh your probably right i had just realised what i said-undefeatable- which i said without thinking but i have to admit he is an extremely good fighter

@ajdaemon08 well, im now 12 and have just done yellow 2 on Sunday which i completed and got a grading score of 8.5/9.
on my last grading which was some time ago i had dont realy well which evryone was saying to me because i had got 9/9 which not a lot of people get so i was very pleased with myself
well done, and keep it up. and its good to here people enjoying martial arts training. i've never done wing chun but some of the techniques look very useful, and i'll probably give it a try someday.
Just to add to the below comments. I have done demos with Kevin Chan (I am six foot three, and three times his bodyweight) and he has offered me opportunities to come in with anything. He adequately beat the crap out of me everytime. I ended up 'hurting myself', so the demos have calmed down. I train in Kyukoshinkai karate and do knockdown tournaments. Kevin Chan could put me down with one punch. He has not got mystical powers, but he just trains damn hard and has a punch of stone
Ok, this looks great, but why can't he do a demonstration where someone attacks him in more realistic way? No street fight looks like this...it's great but why doesn't the opponent behave like a live attacker and react rather than just making one strike then allowing a series of moves to be performed on him?
A couple of reasons why you don't see simulated attackers trying to counter the defence:
1. Master Chan controls their structure (see for example man geng sao, neck pulling hand used in the first two attacks) making it very difficult to keep balance.
2. They will get seriously hurt.
These demonstrations are to show basic attack responses, not to simulate a street scenario.
I totally agree. It is for self protection that the "attacker" doesn't counter. I have seen demos where the attackers were ill prepared and they always get hurt. Usually pretty bad too.
@bbostock Nice video! Are you going to upload a full contact sparring video any time soon? People need one of those to see the real wing chun potential !
I agree with you but you see, these demos are designed to show u the basic WC principals, you're talking about real-life speed and I can assure you Sifu Kevin and other good Sifus'd be reacting and hit back in a flash if he was attacked with speed, with real speed you can't control everything, so the chances are that they'd hurt their students, sparring with protective gears is more close to a real fight and I think is what you want, hope that makes sense.
@aks73 if the attacker acted like the average person in the street they would get absolutely destroyed besides after the first few moves youve put the attacker in the position you want to mash him up
i luv demonstrations where the assailant makes one single move and freezes. i'm not slatin Sifu Chan, hes shit hot, but when are people gonna break out of that fantasy counter-attack format + start makin their demos more realistic?
Having had the privilege to train with Master Chan, I can genuinely say, that not only does he look great on film, but wait until you see a demonstration in the flesh! Get to your closest Kamon class NOW! You'll be wanting to stay!
I love how he relentlessly attacks, even when they're down he keeps striking them. In a real life situation this is what most people don't do, and they end up getting in a bad way because of it.
anyone know the instrumental name?
