I think it's cool that Joey can sing AND play the drums. I actually like the Beastie Boys and some rap from Anthrax, but the whole baggyshortsdrealocksrapmetal thing that happened when I was a little kid is an abomination. Hopefully my generation can add something new to metal in the future, and not just fuse 2 genres of music together and call it "creative".

Rage against the machine probably got that popular in the mainstream, but rage never sold out musically like the kid rock's and limp bizkit bands did. Anthrax was wearing all that long before these bands. It was their own style. Their rap/metal wasnt to start a trend, it was to bridge the gap between black & white, & their stereotyped style of music.

It was a New York thing because the two cultures were stacked on top of each other (although Red Hot Chili Peppers from California were one of the first). Rap groups were sampling rock records, while punk (later thrash) started incorporating funk (which later included Hip Hop). Both were plying at underground clubs. It was authentic, later mainstream stuff were corporate copies and not with the scene. Judgment Night was awesome cultures separated after that.
