    they must be good fathers.

  • Congratulations to them! They finally got their son back! :)

  • @roelvanacker Why is the prosecutor appealing in the first place?

  • I just read that the Belgium Embassy has finally granted Samuel a passport after Laurent and Peter won their latest appeal....I hope this is true! I have been praying for the whole family...It seems as if they will finally have their son home...Thank God!

  • I wish that you get Samuel back home and get to see your child grow. We will follow your case, sign petitions, demonstrate if needed (i'm in Barcelona) or do whatever you need to help. Good luck and I hope the latest news of 18th is the light at the end of the tunnel. Gregory.

  • *** GREAT NEWS TODAY! ***

Press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belgium (February 18th 2011)

Following the recent ruling by the Court in Brussels on Samuel Ghilain - who currently resides in Ukraine - Foreign Affairs will comply with the court order to deliver a passport to the child.

it seems the battle for Laurent and Peter to get their son home is finally at it's end!

  • @roelvanacker Hi Roel, such great news !!!

I hope it's not another false positive message. Do buy De Standaard of yesterday + today. (!!!)

With reactions on this + "anonymous spermdonation and surrogacy" by a gay Flemish professor, + a lady for childrights today). Twice 1 whole page.

I'd like 2 ask to upload (I can't) if possible the news of a couple of days ago (the part bout Samuel

of course). It's still at deredactie dt be

  • Don't ever give up on your son - good luck!!

  • YES!! UPDATE : On the 15th of february a Belgian judge decided that the child can be brought to Belgium, as Laurent is the biological father .The still have to sign some papers etc... However the attorney of the State can still appeal within 1 month. Although Peter doesn't think that will happen, he said on the news of VRT één (TVdutch part of Belgium) that "you never know" of course. Thanks for everybody who signed the petition and prayers. • THEY HAVE SAMUEL IM SOOO HAPPY I SAW THEM ON THE NEWS !

and i searched about them and i found this i cried and i crieed

  • SHAME, shame, shame on you Belgian government!!! I thought our country was gay friendly? What happened?

  • it's a shame that even today in european countries stuff like these happen. Stupid goverments that put such hardness on couples who want to have children. It's an irony to want to be a parent and some stupid law won't allow you. A STUPID LAW. good luck to the couple, hope you get your son back. and don't worry about anything, if you love him a lot and look after him everything will bejust fine with him. kids just need love. and everyhing is fixable

  • Pffff heartbreaking, Good luck guys !! you really deserve your son... don't give up !!!

  • Sent to my friends !

  • Ongelofelijk !

  • Good luck Peter and Laurent!! I hope this is resolved very soon for Samuel's sake.

  • The child belongs with his dad and his husband---not in some orphanage.

  • This is heartbreaking.

  • Come to Argentine. Here they will be recognized as sons due our laws.

  • I'm just sad to hear this...I hope it will work out very soon...

  • MOVE to Ukraine, get your kid and if you don't like Ukraine...move elsewhere. I would move the F our of Belgium and quick for putting me & my child through that much grief.

  • @LacedwCruelty Are you high?! Move to the Ukraine as a gay couple? Yes, I'm sure that would greatly improve their quality of life. D'oh!

  • How about they divorce, fly to Ukraine and marry the surrogate (who is the legal mother?), return with her and the baby to Belgium (won't that be legal?), keep the baby and send the surrogate back after a while? Then, they can remarry again.

  • @panto880 Actually, surrogates aren't legal parents. Even though they are the biological parent, a surrogate mother cannot legally claim the child as their own.

  • @CptnMoosingle

the mother is not claiming the child. she gave him up right after the birth

the mother is not the issue

  • @panto880 The woman has gone on to do another surrogacy. It seems that she's a professional surrogate........

  • Dan ganas de llorar

  • what a sad story. i hope everything turns out for the best very soon.

  • OMG this breaks my heart as a parent, as a human being. I feel for you guys and I hope that you can bring your son home soon! Hugs

  • This break my heart.. I hope and pray that Samuel will be able to come home to his loving fathers soon.

  • I hope you get through all that successful. I wish you the best!!!!

  • i'm sure everything will be ok and one day Sam will be with you guys.

  • I hope so much there will be a solution at the end

  • This is wierd. Belgium allowed same sex marriage but not the surrogate? It's just heart breaking to see what happened.

  • this is awful, they are good people, they should have their kid with them, i realy hope this will all turn out for the better, for the childs sake. Guys, dont ever give up.

  • It breaks my heart to see these two good men denied fatherhood to their child. There are so many injustices in the world and it's a shame that this kind of thing is happening in Belgium, a Western European nation.

I clearly don't understand this. There was a DNA test involved and one of the guys is his biological father. There why the heck is it that he was denied Belgian citizenship????

  • No one can separate a father and son, and no one is ever allowed to do so. That's totally uncivilized and inhumane﹗ F that law! Law should protect people but never put a baby at risk of being adopted by someone but his own father! That's farcical and nonsensical. F that gov!

  • i dont even kno what to say. im speechless. and i just........smh

  • My heart is broken. This couple needs their son! Their son needs them! This is ridiculous. I am furious. Can I adopt Samuel and then take him to his parents? Can someone do this?

  • best of luck to you guys, this is a truly horrifying situation. That child belongs with his biological father, not in an orphanage...!

  • So the biological children of Belgians don't get automatic citizenship? GOD BLESS AMERICA!! EUROPE ISN'T SO ENLIGHTENED AFTER ALL! That bureaucrat's face says it all. He doesn't give a damn, just as long as he keeps stamping those papers......

  • @goodgirlkay

if they weren't born in Belgium they don't and neither are american kids if they were born not on american soil.

  • @gigglerforcoolrunnin No you're wrong about American children, if you're born to an American parent, you are an automatic citizen, no matter where you're born!!! Please do some reading! If you're an American, you're ignorant of your own country's law.......that's rather sad!

  • this video made me cry

  • this has actually made me cry, it breaks my heart

  • I'm currently living in Belgium, and have been for a while now - I can tell you, if nothing changes SUPER fast in terms of their government (which it won't), this kid will be in university by the time a decision is handed down.

  • this breaks my heart :(

  • This is so sad. I hope this kid grows up and brings hell upon them.

  • Niet de Belgen, gewoon dat er geen wet voor is. Dan is het gewoon onmogelijk blijkbaar.

  • verschikkelijk,.. zijn die belgen nu echt gek geworden.. dit kan niet waar zijn!
