Mark James wrote for Elvis but he also wrote for Brenda Lee and she was the first to record this song. Elvis recorded this song after he separated from Priscilla. In a way it reflected his relationship with Priscilla and the deep regret he felt when she left him. He did not treat her very well. She was an afterthought in his life until she left.

Nice, but I much prefer the broken hearted Elvis version, sung with such hurt and passion. Then Willie did a nice version 10 years after Elvis. Written in 1972 by Mark James, Wayne Carson Thompson and Johnny Christopher. Mark James also wrote Elvis' Suspicious Minds and Moody Blue and Raised on Rock. He's a great writer!

Personally, i listened the whole way through this one, just to make sure it didn't get better near the end. A mistake on my part, my ears were bleeding by the time it finished...

@Kirilenkova I agree totally with you. He seems to wanting to prove something by singing all the fantastic old great songs performed by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Elvis, Dean Martin. He has absolutely no talent but to copy others and rip off their music. I saw him on a tv programe and I was disgusted with his behaviour with females while he's married. Gorgeous - these people need to go to Specsavers!

@hutchisoncm Let us all know when you've walked a mile in his successful singer, songwriter and actor shoes. His inspiration for singing comes from watching the parade scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He just wants to sing to the world in the genre of styles that he IS, in fact, good at. He is only praising the classics by singing their songs. Did you also know that some songs are just standards that everyone is entitled to sing? As for behavior, Frankie wasn't the cleanest dish in the washer.

@pianist9000 I wouldn't want to walk in his shoes as there are so many far more professional artists that I would prefer to follow. The problem is that he believes he is better than all the professional artists he tries so hard to copy. He is smug and conceited and loves himself to bits. The only reason he is gracing us with his pretencious voice is that he was no good at ice hockey and he couldn't hack it being a journalist.

@hutchisoncm lol, nah. I'm really not that funny. It's not that I'm over sensitive but just really trying to back up a really good artist who isn't a classic. Just because someone isn't from before the millennium doesn't bust their credibility as original or good enough to compete with classics. I love Elvis and Nelson but jazz is something I grew up with the most and Michael has an excellent sense of what both jazz and country should sound like together. I agree, to each their own.

Nice, but I much prefer the broken hearted Elvis version, sung with such hurt and passion. Then Willie did a nice version 10 years after Elvis. Written in 1972 by Mark James, Wayne Carson Thompson and Johnny Christopher. Mark James also wrote Elvis' Suspicious Minds and Moody Blue and Raised on Rock. He's a great writer!
