Those who want to see drivers wringing the most out of these roly-poly kinds of cars should check out the excellent C&T reviews posted here on YT. I'm amazed how the cars don't flip.
Two things here: 1st: My 1976 Ford Gran Torino weighs 3597 lbs (that's 1632 Kgs not 2,5 tons!). Fully equipped, not stripped, not modified in any way. And 2nd: You are using the totally wrong tires. Lose those stupid low profiles and get the correct SR10 series for the front and 9 inch SR's for the back. And, there was a version, like mine, with a "385 series" engine (7 litre) that delivered 378 bhp. Why are you using the whimpy Torino?

It would have been easier to build less heavy cars with much smaller engines or with the same engine but it would take off like a jet, and you could also handle it in the corners. She has to power slide those turns. These old rear wheel drive cars cannot handle the same type of fast grip based driving as modern cars. I drifted my 89 Firebird Formula a few times messing around on corners.
This video also assumes that the cars depicted came from the factory as they were...We know that the Duke boys and Starsky would take as much of that heavy stock stuff out, and replace it with better (and lighter) aftermarket equipment like headers and aluminum manifolds for a start...Safe bet Chargers coming off the assembly line back then had drum brakes on all four wheels..

Torino was an old man's car even back in the day, and it's a tank, dog slow, during the energy crisis of 1974, it was SLOOOOOW. The Charger had at least a 383 or 440 in it and could run circles around any 70s car. 426 hemi was nice too!

@hu0189743 Again wrong, ZR1 runs it in 7:26.4 and the Viper ACR runs it in 7:22.1, so it looks like the ZR1 isn't all that great after all.
Side Note: Deal with the fact that the ZR1 is not as great as its made out to be, the fact that a car that cost half as much ( The GTR) only runs the 26 mile course 3 seconds slower even though its 250ish HP down. Yea really great American Tech and engineering there.

Yep, there's a big difference between a small block and big block, yet bigger still is there were 2 option engines in the Torino, a 351 Windsor and a 351 Cleveland, same cubic inches, and it ends there, blocks were different and so was the power, the Cleveland preferred higher RPM's making it a true race engine. BTW I've seen her blow Jeremy's top record at the race road course in Germany, even pushed a Ford transit to insane speeds at that same track
the idea is to thrash it around and be as agressive as possible with these cars. You just cant drive them like a car built for corners.

This video also assumes that the cars depicted came from the factory as they were...We know that the Duke boys and Starsky would take as much of that heavy stock stuff out, and replace it with better (and lighter) aftermarket equipment like headers and aluminum manifolds for a start...Safe bet Chargers coming off the assembly line back then had drum brakes on all four wheels..

Torino was an old man's car even back in the day, and it's a tank, dog slow, during the energy crisis of 1974, it was SLOOOOOW. The Charger had at least a 383 or 440 in it and could run circles around any 70s car. 426 hemi was nice too!

She's commenting on a pale copy, not the real character racecar the General was. Her mistake.

@hu0189743 Again wrong, ZR1 runs it in 7:26.4 and the Viper ACR runs it in 7:22.1, so it looks like the ZR1 isn't all that great after all.
Side Note: Deal with the fact that the ZR1 is not as great as its made out to be, the fact that a car that cost half as much ( The GTR) only runs the 26 mile course 3 seconds slower even though its 250ish HP down. Yea really great American Tech and engineering there.

Yep, there's a big difference between a small block and big block, yet bigger still is there were 2 option engines in the Torino, a 351 Windsor and a 351 Cleveland, same cubic inches, and it ends there, blocks were different and so was the power, the Cleveland preferred higher RPM's making it a true race engine. BTW I've seen her blow Jeremy's top record at the race road course in Germany, even pushed a Ford transit to insane speeds at that same track
