  • W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L ! I can't believe the ungrateful comment below, someone posts a piece of cinematic history and some clown critiques the added music, obviously that person didn't have the sense to turn off the sound if they didn't like the music. This simple film did have a surprise ending.Glenn Tryon appeared in 67 films and died at age 71. Barbara Kent appeared with Greta Garbo in,"Flesh & The Devil" she died in October 2011 at the age of 104, she refused to be interviewed about her career.

  • This clip is a disaster. The substitution of an song about hopelessness, "What Difference Does It Make", for Irving Berlin's "Always" , the hymn to eternal love to which the couple fell in love when they danced at Coney Island, totally ruins the payoff scene that is key to the greatness of "Lonesome." Thank God that a correct version of this almost-unknown classic of late silent cinema is finally coming out from Criterion.. Until then, ignore this You Tube version.

  • Thanks so much for uploading this! Great to watch. :D

  • @4MaryAnna

I did too but then I had it in a playlist, so it would unmute when it started the next video. Then I just gave up and got grumpy :)

  • paulistab, thank you so much for posting. What a fabulous silent film. I had never seen it before. It's people like you,who make yt so wonderful!!!

Can anybody translate what it said on that card at 1:44?

  • @4MaryAnna it said something like "you are close to find the love of your life" im sorry for my english, and i really aprecciate all your comments, even those ones i dont agree, thank u very much! this last comment make my day ; )

  • @paulistab You don't need to apologize for your English. I think sometimes people who speak English naturally,(people like me)expect people who don't speak it naturally,to be perfect in their English. So I'm sorry about that.

Again, thank you so much for posting this film. Happy Holidays! :)

  • Awful music. Original track would have been better.

  • @chemosh6969

I SO agree with you. Just terrible. I had to watch it muted.

  • I love this movie. Good use of the the music. I saw this in NYC at a screening with the Allow Orchestra playing an original score. The version I saw included some talking scenes.

  • Muchisimas gracias por esto! no la conseguía por ningun lado, me salvaste :)
