Omigosh, this was just as creepy now as when first I watched it at the age of seven...it didn't help that I totally forgot the ending! I think I've pegged this as being the episode where I first fell in love with Kirk, just like Miri did. And the Spock/McCoy scene after McCoy jabbed himself...yeah, I remember that. From the A.V. Club review of this episode I expected Kirk to be come off way more pedo-ish than I had remembered... but after watching this again I think it's clear that he's just trying to humor Miri in order to get what he needs. Look at the teasing way in which Rand talks about it afterwards - if they actually thought he was attracted to her they all would have reacted very differently, to put it lightly.
