  • Jamaica has a mixed population. Jamaica is not only consist of black people, but we also have Europeans, some Caucasians, Chinese, East Indians, and so forth. Jamaicans can be mixed through ancestry, like me. On my mom side, her ancestors are from Europe, which makes her white. On my father's side, they're Jamaican (African descendance). Since I am mostly black, I call myself black even though I am mixed with European.

  • My church consists of mostly Ghanaians, Jamaicans, Nigerians and very few others from other Caribbean/african countries. Today it was the pastor (Who is a Ghanaian)'s birthday, and all the countries went up, but when my grandma went up to the altar to Represent Jamaica, we all went Madd and all the Jamaicans went to the altar and sung the National Anthem whilst Holding up the flag. My Father is a Jamaican, and I'm proud :)

  • sounds a lil bit like a xmas song

  • 4 ppl are not Jamaican..

  • Lots of good people died building what we know today (there aren't many countries that didn't have rivers of bloodshed in the past). Don't count their sacrifice for naught - do you part in bridging that gap, whatever the colour of your skin. This kind of arguing and fighting is beneath us as Jamaicans - as people who love their country & as a Nation that loves God.

  • mi a jamaican an a jamaica mi seh str88888888!!!!!!!!!

    to di world

  • BOLT LIGHTNING BOLT YA C YA C HIM LIGHTING BOLT

  • I don't think anyone meant to deny their black ethnicity by pointing out others they are made of. I think whatever was said was just to place the point that we are a very diverse set of people & that should be something to embrace. That is what makes us (as Caribbean people in general) different & intriguing. No matter what, we cannot deny our black heritage; it is just something that goes without saying - it is obvious that we are black people, who, some way or the other, have black ancestors!

  • @powermysonjkj correction 33% of Jamaica is non-black. Please state facts

  • @powermysonjkj

NO! they don't hate their blackness. Jamaica really has a mixed population from Chinese to Europeans and so forth. So some Jamaicans are mixed. I'm mixed between Jamaican/European, but since I'm mostly black...I call myself a black person.

  • @powermysonjkj it isn't true that 95% of Jamaica is black. It was a port for many folks. There are many Chinese Jamaican, Indian (from India) jamaican, Native Jamaicans, White Jamaicans, etc etc. Yes there are many black jamaicans, but it is an extremely diverse country - that is why their motto is "Out of many, one people". I am a proud Black woman - but I'm also a scholar and just thought you should know. =] be peace

  • @hope0hurts He stands corrected...95% are BLACK PEOPLE...or PEOPLE OF COLOR.. Only One race exists in a court of Law...White. The term "COLORED or BLACK" means nothing. Chinese isnt a "Race", its a nationality. As a scholar I thought you WOULD know this.

  • @fuddyduddie1 would you prefer that I said those characterized as Mongolian? If we are to get into a true scholarly debate - race doesn't exist.. it's a social construct. But that isn't the point here is it? Everything in context, dear. Everything with the realms of the discussion at hand. Yes most are people of color - but color ranges from yellow, red, brown to black. Many of which do not have direct ancestors who were slaves on the island, as the Black (dropped off from Africa) population did

  • @hope0hurts sorry didnt read this one until after my last posts...but again those Africans that you refer to as dropped off slaves, just happened to be in America before the Europeans. They were not "dropped off" we had already settled in this land and WE were "conquered". Only ignorant niggas and brainwashing whites believe that African trade story. We are original Americans( so called African-Americans). Haiti fought America for ages way before any U.S.A ever existed.

  • The argument at hand, was that those that are African-American (or Black American or Negro American) are the same (ethnically) as those that are Jamaican. That is false, because to claim that nationality to only have one ethnic group is very misguided. That was my claim as understood by all other readers other than yourself. The intent behind the words remains the same. =]

  • @hope0hurts ok now I see your problem....you dont understand that color is only skin tone. White or colored...if you are colored in anyway, shape. form or fashion you are labeled ( by LAW) as Black regardless of Nationality. So 85% of the WORLD is Black...True a Nation can contain many ethic groups but only ONE color. Color is that Color..White is a different story. And trust me Im no racist...all this can be found in an Oxford Law dictionary. This is why we have a hard time in court.

  • @hope0hurts I also agree with you that it is misguiding to state that "a Jamaican is Black". But there are no such things as Chinese Jamaicans. They are either Chinese, Jamaican, or other. Mexican, P Rican, Cuban, are all so called "Latinos" yet they vary in color...that is ethnics. So to say that 95% of Mexicans are colored is a true statement. As is in the Jamaican one. Everyone is "Colored" cept Whites. Even in a court of Law this is provable.

  • @powermysonjkj I have no idea man. Black is beautiful and respectful. I am very mixed persone myself, but unfortunately have no black in me :(.

  • Comment removed

  • @powermysonjkj wtf? that has nothing to do with it. we are proud of who we are. we are just showing our history and how far we are coming from. we are not racists either. i don't know who you hating.

  • Jamaica is such a beautiful country. How could you not love it?

  • Phahahahahaha this is fucking hilarious

  • @XlostmyhopeX

By chance are you a descendant of one of the Brits whose hind-parts my ancestors in Jamaica thoroughly beat? You snobbish British b*tch! You should cry at the truth of your empire which built its wealth brutalizing, dehumanizing, stealing from and killing Hebrew Israelites from West Africa. But, ESAU, your laughter will turn to tears. So, laugh all you want for now.

  • @AllTruth1 I didnt do anything wrong man, back up and chill out

  • @FreedomBeats

I sent a comment to XlostmyhopeX so, what are you talking about?

Is FreedomBeats a new or other moniker in addition to XlostmyhopeX?

  • @AllTruth1 You were talking about the british as a whole, read what you said to him

  • @FreedomBeats

I'm Jamaican - you know one of descendants of the people your ancestors colonized and as you are an beneficiary of the Superpower status which Britain now holds, attained from its brutalizing of, stealing from and killing of other races, i.e., black West Africans & East Africans and East Indians (Asians), I view you as deserving to share the burden of Britain's crimes against humanity.

  • @AllTruth1 Lol i don't care, just chill out. I havnt killed anyone. Not asking for a lecture.

  • @FreedomBeats

Too bad that you're "not asking for a lecture" because I gave you one and will give any Brit with a superior attitude on this video site, created to instill pride in Jamaicans.

  • @AllTruth1 lol i didnt even make a suprior comment, your an idiot lol. Learn to converse properly. End of.

  • @FreedomBeats

What a joke: here you are attempting to insult me, by telling me to "learn to converse properly" because I said, "... I gave you one and will any Brit with a SUPERIOR attitude..." Well, here's some proper conversation: "suprior" is misspelled by you, IDIOT. "End of" isn't a complete sentence and even if it were you would be grammatically incorrect, as you don't end sentences with prepositions. Now, take your own advice to "learn to converse properly."

    The End!

  • @XlostmyhopeX fuck you, you asshole

  • cool song

  • Verse 2 says:

Teach us true respect for all,

    Stir response to Duty's call,

Strengthen us the weak to cherish,

Give us vision lest we perish.

    Knowledge send us Heavenly Father

    Grant true wisdom from above.

    Justice, Truth be ours forever,

    Jamaica land We Love

  • Jamaicans have become a vengeful people in language, in music, in actions. Unable or unwilling to take control of our emotions, we live unconscious of our purpose to "play our part in advancing the welfare of the whole human race." What a tragedy! Can we change direction. Yes we can! And for the sake of our generations we must.

  • The correct words of the Jamaican National Anthem are:

    Eternal Father bless our land,

Guard us with Thy Mighty Hand

Keep us free from evil powers,

Be our light through countless hours.

    To our Leaders Great Defender,

    Grant true wisdom from above.

Please see author's biography - "Eternal Father Bless Our Land"

  • Best Anthem R You Dumb..?

  • So beautiful anthem.

  • Beautiful..

  • I wonder how come so many people are proclaiming their eternal love for Jamaica and none of you noticed that the lyrics (in text - info) is wrong.

    Should be

Guide us with thy mighty hand

    "Guide us", not guard us.

And yes, it is correct to say lyrics is as opposed to lyrics are, and yes we are African, if a cow is born in a pig pen it is still a cow, ergo, an African born in Jamaica is still an African.

I am not saying you don't love JA cause yu nu kno the anthem, but at least learn it star.

  • @nuffyfan thats so long,if you took time to listen to the actual song you would hear that the song is correct its the written content thats incorrect, so who's at fault?

guard us is correct if you think of GODS MIGHTY HAND, IT WOULD BE GUARD

  • @Triplej345 What do you mean if I take time to listen to it, I am a Jamaican, this is required to be known by every child in every school. I was not guessing. I was TELLING you what is correct.

  • well yuh wrong bout guide...its actually guard...if you can actually get the official song lyrics you will see that it is guard not guide. Alot of smaller children and even adults like yourself are singing it wrong by singing guide instead of guard

  • ye mon

  • Does it honestly matter what we speak? I personally am quite proud of my Jamaican heritage just because English is my main language it doesnt mean I'm any less Jamaican. Every country has their own language and people should respect that :)

  • Jamaica is the largest english speaking country in the Caribbean. Jamaica's population is between 2-3 million with over 6 million Jamaicans overseas. The first language is english. Patios was used by the slaves as a secret communication from the plantation owners. It is widely used.

  • the official language of jamaica is english. the lingua franca is patwa, which has english vocabulary grafted on to an african-based syntax.

  • Not all Jamaicans speak broken English. Most speak perfectly good English.

  • we speak potois in Jamaica, and when we're ready and if we feel like we speak english at will.

    Unno si mi?

  • we just speak broken english

  • (baboynamalaki) yo idiot you american?

  • no we r english..we were ruled by the british

  • ok. but you have your independence right now? so does that mean that jamaica is an english speaking country? not spanish?

  • yes jamaica is an english country

  • I suggest you pick up a history book. Yes, we have our independence. We gained our independence from the British, therefore we speak English. At one point waaaaay back in history the Spanish had conquered the island, but then the British fought and took hold of the island, and the island remained under British rule until we gained our independence in the early 1960's.

  • we are not english, we are Africans in Jamaica stolen by the english. get used to dis

  • we are not africans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • maybe you are not African cause you are one of those who reaped the benefits of those who went into Africa and stole people and took them west (including Jamaica) If you even look at the population make up it tell the percentage of those who are of African decent. If you are not African where does your bloodline come from. The true Jamaicans were Arawaks if you know the true history.

  • @dahjah Not all Jamaicans are African. The True Jamaicans are the Tainos. Africans came after, then the chinese, indians, germans etc. And with all these other countries..we have a mixed population with a good chunk of others are solely Indian or Chinese, or Syrian etc etc, but still a JAMAICAN. OUT OF MANY, ONE PEPOLE. The end...

  • @br0wnsugarplum

Excuse me but although you are right, are you trying to down play that over 90% of Jamaicans trace their ancestry back to West Africa?

Well, when you reply, I will give you a wonderful history lesson.

  • @br0wnsugarplum Yeah youre right jamaica belongs to south america. Well it is an island between north and south

  • @br0wnsugarplum

i completely agree with you im jamerican and ignorant comments like that, even if they wern't meant to be, piss me off. thumbs up on your comment. =)

  • @br0wnsugarplum are u serious? how can the true jamaicans be tainos? when most of them died out before the africans even got here, the were the first inhabitant of the land of jamaica but not the true of first jamaicans, u dig

  • @deregiment She simply meant "original" when she said "true" Jamaicans. Is that so hard to figure out. Having them die out don't make then any less true or original than the rest of us.

  • @br0wnsugarplum Yes that is true, but 70% of Jamaica's population consists of Afro-Jamaicans. Jamaicans with African Ancestry, the other percentage is the Caucasians, East Indians, Chinese...etc

  • @iiRockJamrock Yeah I know lol... my mom is also Jamaican, and her mother was born in Jamaica, but is of Chinese descent.

  • @br0wnsugarplum That is what i loved about Jamaica.been there for nine months. My gf is jamaican.going in december again.the OUT OF MANY ONE PEOPLE was one of the first things i saw when arriving at Montego Bay airport.Felt welcome right away.

  • No Jamaica is an English speaking country.

  • We speak English in Jamaica, not Spanish :)

  • no. they speak english. broken english but english none the less.

ps. i'm canadian but my dad and grandparents are from Jamaica and proud of it. =)

  • well i prefer to call it an English creole instead of broken English....just like other islands which have french creole, dutch creole and spanish creole...patois is based on english (because we became an english colony) with influences mainly from West African languages, then spanish and french

  • No not at all we have our Patois.... but thats kind of like a broken english lol kind of Like ebonics for black people :) lol

  • Im doin a project about jamaica!

Its a sports thing n our class wanted 2 do JAMAICA!!

    I love jamaica

  • this is actually a very nice anthem. I heard some Jamaicans sing this to me in church on saturday and it sounded violent like someone getting shot when they said "JAMAICA......BOOM! JAMAICA.......BOOM! jamaica land we love..." lol but it's a beautiful anthem. Much love from Trinidad and Tobago.

  • dwl lol thats funny...i hate when they do that...just cnt get it out of them to stop doing that...They are actually trying to mimic the sound of the drums

  • i'm jamaican so yall shut up

  • Jamaica , nice anthem and nice sports man , Ulsain Bolt and Powell

  • its kinda going too fast. no actually it is going too fast

  • ok here is da ting da anthem is NOT going 2 fast its just dat ur brain is slow at comprehending things. Its ok we understand its not ur fault
